“Gina is so great!! I’ve had her do several drop-ins for my boys and even house sitting over the weekend, and she has such great communication every time. She’s so loving with my babies that are a little high maintenance. So thankful to have her!!”

“Micah is excellent! This was the first time ever I had such service booked. Micah did an amazing job with my active dog who is still in the puppy stage and can be a bit much :D Micah is very respectful, and I have 100% confidence I’ll be returning”

“Leah took wonderful care of our dog, Nutmeg, while we were away for 10 days. She gave us complete peace of mind by providing daily updates with photos, which made it so reassuring to see how well Nutmeg was doing. Leah carefully followed all of the instructions we left and treated both Nutmeg and our home with great care and respect. It was clear that she genuinely cared about Nutmeg’s well-being, and we came home to a happy, well-cared-for pup and a house that was just as we left it. We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter and would absolutely book Leah again. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and reliable to care for their pets.”

“Darrius did a great job with our pups. One is very prickly and needs medicine. He did a great job of making sure she took her medication which is our main concern. He also let our bigger dog take his time outside even when the weather wasn't great. We will definitely use him again.”

“Sydney was absolutely wonderful! Before our appointment, she took the time to meet Mona, get familiar with our area, and understand all of her needs. On the day of the appointment, she was punctual, and kept me updated throughout, which I really appreciate it. Most importantly, Mona was so happy to spend time with her! I highly recommend Sydney and wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again. Thank you Sydney!!!”

“Sydney was absolutely wonderful! She stayed with our German Shepherd and tripod Lab for 5 nights, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. Before the stay, she took the time to come meet us and our dogs, and she asked thoughtful questions that showed how much she genuinely cares about animals and wants to provide the best care possible. Throughout our trip, she sent daily updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind knowing our dogs were happy and well cared for. It’s clear that Sydney truly loves dogs. She was attentive, responsible, communicative, and treated our pups like they were her own. As a recent college graduate, she is incredibly mature, dependable, and professional. We came home to two happy dogs and a clean house. We would not hesitate to book Sydney again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!”

“Jasmine stayed with our 2 dogs while we were on vacation for 4 nights! Our dogs are picky about who they like and they warmed up to her super quick during the first meet and greet. She took great care of them and the house as well. We got updates each day and she responded quickly when we reached out to her!”

About: I've cared for dogs and cats throughout high school, college, and now into my remote-working career. I used to be an active Rover sitter in Houston with several recurring pups that I loved. I recently moved back home to Katy to help support my mom during her cancer treatments, and I really miss being around dogs. That's why I am re-opening my schedule for dog-walking, cat-sitting, house-sitting, and drop in services! I'd love to bring some extra joy back into my daily routine. I currently work from home, so I am available to walk your dog or check in on your cats before working hours (before 9 a.m.) and after working hours (after 5 p.m.). If you live close enough, I may be able to check in mid-day as well. In my own home, my pets are treated like royalty! I have my dog, Ollie, three cats (Tom, Luna, and Belle), and a crested gecko (Leia). Safe to say, I am an animal lover. Because I have a lot of pets, I am looking to offer dog walking and in-home check-ins for your dogs, cats, or other animals (I have reptile experience).
“Gonzalo, Juliana’s brother and Judy’s son, house sat our girls for a 2.5wk period. We were extremely nervous at first as it was the first time ever that we left the girls at home, let alone for such a long period of time, but we couldn’t have asked for a better match than Gonzalo. He cared for the girls as if they were his own and they were super happy and well cared for. We will definitely book Gonzalo again for all future trips!! Thank you!!”

“Absolutely sweetheart!! I trusted her with my two polar opposite dogs and she did absolutely amazing!! Stayed with them all day so they didn’t have to be in a cage all day. She was very responsive and send updates throughout the day. 10/10 would recommend and rebook again!!”

“Amazing! Jess took care of our three dogs, a 13Y F/ 4Y M/ 7Y M, while we were away for a weekend trip. They range in personality and in needs and she was able to take care of them all well. We hope she’s free the next time we plan a trip given we’d definitely rebook her for overnight stays.”

“Ryan was absolutely what I was looking for! Reliable, professional, & trusting! After my last rover experience I was a bit hesitant what would happen when booking someone else; however, Ryan did not fail to amaze! He checked in on my pups multiple times a day, fed them and sent pictures in which they looked very content. I feel very comfortable leaving my pups in Ryan’s care while I travel. Definitely recommend Ryan for your pet services!”

“Elisa was very attentive to our 5 dogs while my sister and I were away! She made sure to send lots of pictures and videos, and was really responsive whenever I had questions or wanted to check in.”

About: I have always loved animals of all kinds, and I will ensure your furry friends are treated as if they were my own. I have always lived with cats and dogs and have cared for all sorts, from low maintenance "living plants" to buddies who need extra care and support due to age or ailment. I have an extremely flexible schedule so I can adapt to whatever routine you and your pets are used to, whether that's early morning walks or late night feedings. I can do it all with ease. I will abide by any and all rules you have for both your house and your pets and I will make sure they are followed to the strictest interpretation.
“This was our second time having Kaitlyn watch our dog, and we couldn’t be happier! She took him on lots of walks, sent tons of pictures and updates, and it was obvious he was having the best time. Our dog absolutely loves her, and it’s such a relief knowing he’s excited to see her when we leave. Kaitlyn is always on time, communicates really well, and makes the whole process so easy. We never have to worry because we know he’s in great hands. We’d recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable who genuinely cares about your pet, and we’ll definitely keep booking with her!”

“Belen is officially our dogs’ favourite person (after us, of course), and honestly, we know why. She watched them for a full week and treated them like royalty. Belen provided us with regular updates, which included photos, videos, and witty commentary. She cleaned up after them like a pro, kept our house in beautiful shape, and somehow made everything feel effortless. The dogs were calm, delighted, and clearly adored. We’re pretty sure they didn’t want her to leave. If you’re lucky enough to book Belen, hang on to her. She’s a total gem, and we’re already hoping she’s free for our next trip.”

About: My entire life, my home has been described as the neighborhood’s “local zoo.” From livestock to pocket pets, I’ve cared for a wide variety of animals over the years. I’ve volunteered working hands-on with animals at the zoo, and currently care for two dogs, one cat, some small animals, and fish I’ve been pet sitting for over five years and have experience with many dog breeds, ages, and personalities. I focus on building trust, supporting positive behavior, and helping animals feel safe and comfortable in my care. I believe pets deserve to enjoy being animals—without unnecessary stress—while still feeling understood and respected by the humans around them. I’m currently a full time commuting student. My school hours will begin at 8am and end at 4:30pm most days. I will be available to feed and walk your pet before and after these timings. Weekends I am free with notice. Pets are allowed supervised free roam of my home. During the day, they will likely be confined to one room or a crate if needed while I’m at school. Pets will have unlimited access to water, other dogs to interact with, plenty of toys, etc.
“Sherine and Kai were amazing as always! It gives us such peace of mind to know they are taking care of our kitties (including two elderly kitties) and house while we travel! They are so great with the cats and go above and beyond with the house! They are our go-to for housesitting! Highly recommend them!”

I was beyond impressed. She took amazing care of my two dogs. They both loved her so much that it showed in the pictures she sent of their smiling faces. My senior dog (who needs meds and extra care) got all the care he needed and was almost trying to leave with her. My Aussie got all the exercise and play that he’s been wanting. She gave us updates and asked questions to make sure the dogs got everything they needed and more. She went above and beyond not only with our dogs, but also with taking care of our home. I don’t think I’ll ever want another pet sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Foster walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Foster maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Foster choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Foster. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
