“This was my first experience with Rover. Lara was referred to me by someone on Nextdoor. I dont know the neighbor who referred Lara. And I met Lara once in-person to introduce her to my cats. I was a little nervous about having a stranger in my house. But, I’m so glad I went with trust instead of fear. Lara is very communicative. She sent regular updates and photos of my girls, and left the house spotless. She asked questions when she had them. And, best of all, I had no worries while I was away. The last time I was a way for a few days, one of my cats was a little cranky with me. Not this time. All three acted like I never left. 😐 I highly recommend Lara. Just don’t book her when I need her, please. 😀”

“Sara was amazing with our three cats when we went out of town. She spent time playing with all of them even our grumpy hard to find kitty. She kept us updated on the weather so we could make sure they kept cool during a surprise heatwave and made sure we knew all the changes in the house while we were gone. I highly recommend her to care for your pets, she truly treats them as her own.”

“Ulysses took care of my kitties for several days. When I got home they were calm and fed. I could tell that they had been well cared for. Everything looked great and he even took out the trash for pickup. I will use his services again.”

About: I’ve taken care of many different dogs and animals since childhood. I was part of my local 4h helping raise animals from steers to Guinea pigs. I love all animals and love them more than humans. I currently work from home. I can be very flexible with my schedule to accommodate different needs. I will always be available for your pet for some pets or a step outside. I have a small cat who keeps to herself. Your dog can be free around my home or crated if you prefer. I work on my computer all day so I can always be attentive. I live right on a creek so your dog will be very entertained on their walks.
About: I'm an actor who brings passion to everything I do. I want to run or play fetch or scratch the bellies of any and all the beautiful pups out there! Dogs have been apart of my life since I was 7, when we took in a stray basset hound named Scarlett. She was a kindred old soul. Because I travel a lot for work, I'm unable to have my own, but this is the next best thing! I've watched Chihuahuas and Golden Retrievers, old dogs barely able to leave the house and little pups who never wanted to stay inside. I've found that Black Labs are great to run lines with and Huskies actually love the sun! Whatever the needs, whatever the occasion, I am ready and game! I am a working freelance actor and writer for stage, film, and TV so my schedule is quite varied depending on what project I am working on at any given time. This does allow for a lot of flexibility in my routine. I have a deep passion for animal care and I can ensure that your pets will be as loved as possible while you are away.

About: I took care of my pet cat for 15 years and have helped look after cats in my neighborhood since I was a little kid. I hope to one day have a kitty of my own again but in the meantime I promise to give your pets the quality care they deserve! I currently work part-time and go to college locally, so I have four days a week when I'm free to spend as much time with your pets as they need! I can definitely be flexible with scheduling, just send me the details :) I can put out food and water and clean litter boxes as well as basic grooming such as gentle brushing etc. If your cat has any specific dietary needs I can make sure those are accommodated as I take that seriously due to personal experience.
“Another terrific set of services from Denise while we were on vacation. All went well and smoothly. Denise sent us pics, which our other pet-sitter did not, and we enjoyed (and felt comforted) seeing that all was well while we were away. Thanks for your help, Denise!”

About: I have had dogs all my life! I pet sat for puppies, senior dogs, large dogs (80+ pounds), and tiny chihuahuas. I have also worked with anxious-aggressive dogs and can work with you to get your pet care. I work Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7am -5:30 pm. Otherwise, I am flexible and I’m good at going with the flow. I want to make sure both you and your pet feel safe. Pets are family and I want you to know they are in good hands! I can make sure your pet care is to your standards. I also always send pictures!
“Shannon was great! She did drop in visits to feed and socialize with my cat. She played with him and sent great pictures from each visit. She was attentive to instructions and everything went very smoothly.”

About: I’m a 22 year old college graduate looking to fulfill her hopes of pet setting once again! Being a full time student meant busy weeks, leaving no time for pet care. Something I actively did before transferring to UCSC. But with this newfound, post-graduate freedom, I’m eager to get back into the gig. Besides caring for my own kitties, I’ve worked with 7 clients over the past four years. All of which have been dog sitting gigs, with one job including an additional 3 cats (if that makes sense haha). And in my time as a sitter I’ve had four consistent clients. Additionally, I’m more than willing to sit for most dogs/ cats regardless of age, size, energy level, etc. It is my job (and such a privilege) to ensure their needs are met! Worth a mention - I’ve not had any experience in pet training, but I’m committed to being the best companion to the little loves! I can’t wait to connect with you and your fur-babies! I’m hoping to fill my week days (which are fairly open as of late) with pet care! Connecting with animals is truly such a rewarding job. Knowing I can make your life easier, and also that your pets are happy fills my heart with oodles of joy. My housing agreement unfortunately states that I can’t allow pets on to the premises. However, I’m extremely comfortable staying in/ visiting other spaces. Being respectful of your space is one of my top priorities.

About: I absolutely love animals! I'd love to take care of your family pet! :) I am a stay at home wife and Momma with time to give your pet. I live with my husband, two children (10 and 7, girls) and seven year old black labrador (our boy loves all animals, he has had exposure to a wide array of pets). If references are needed I have years of experience and would be happy to provide some. Thanks for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you! ~Robyn Pet care fits nicely into our daily and weekly routines. We walk every night before bed as a family and during the day the pet would not be alone because I am in the household daily. I typically walk in the morning as well. However, I’m happy to meet the needs of your pet, all pets have their own routine. Mine is very flexible to their needs. When your pet comes into our home they are instantly part of the family. Loads of love and affection rained down on them from us. It’s very important for me to know exactly what your pet likes and it’s top priority during our time together.
About: I love dogs and dogs love me. I have lived with many dogs while care for them as a puppy and house trained them. I love to go on walks, and house sit these love bugs. It brings me joy to support and be in service to families. I Owned a cat for 16 years and then as an adult I have cat sit before. Cats often take time and adjustment to a new energy. So I allow the cat to come to me. I am an online energy healer/life coach and so I work daily on a computer and can be flexible with routine. I would consult and agree to the time needed daily or weekly with the pet care I like to ask for a printed out routine or schedule. Emergency contacts and possible things to do around the house so when the owner comes home they can relax and have everything still flowing in the house.
“Fuliang did a great job. I felt my cat Alba was well cared for. I got a nice detailed report on the last day. Could have used a picture of my cat everyday but otherwise I am a very satisfied customer and will use this sitter again for my pet sitting needs.”

About: I’ve cared for cats, dogs, rabbits and more since a young age. I enjoy it and it is a passion of mine to bond with every animal that I encounter. I am available all days of the week as well as some holidays. I can be very flexible as well. South Bay clients welcome :) We keep all of our pets indoors as means to keep them safe from predators and harsh weather conditions. If they are crate trained we can provide crates for them.
About: I have taken care of a large variety of pets, including cats, dogs, reptiles, fish, and rodents. They have ranged from newborn to elderly, and I have experience with pets with behavioral and medical concerns. I have worked in a professional capacity as a dog groomer and in a boarding facility, and trained my own puppy, Maisie! I've been petsitting since I was young, starting with neighbors and family, and animal care remains one of my greatest passions. I'm excited to meet your beautiful pets! At this time, I'm not offering overnight services, because my own puppy is too young to be left alone at night. Throughout the day I am available to dedicate my energy to making sure your pet is happy and having all of their needs met ♥️ As a pet owner myself, I know how nerve-wracking it can be to be away from your pets. For that reason, I make sure that I know exactly the routine and requirements you're looking for in a sitter, and I keep regular communication with you — both to ensure your expectations are met and to share updates and cute photos of your furbabies whenever requested. I know how central my pets' well-being is to my life, and the safety and happiness of your beloved companions are no less important to me.
“Cat was lovely and took great care of my cat. I got daily photos, updates, and she was very patient with us when we had a series of the technical issues at the house. Highly recommend.”

“Chaitrali was a great sitter for my 2 kitties! She dropped in for 4 visits and was very attentive to them every time. She was patient with them to play, fed them correctly, gave them lots of pets and sent detailed updates and pictures so I wasn’t worried at all. I could tell she likes animals, especially cats. She was very flexible with scheduling and responsive with her communication. I will be sure to book with her again if I go out of town!”

About: I've had pets ever since I was born but really started caring for them when I was about 5 years old. We've had every kind of pet from bunnies, birds, dogs, cats, chickens, hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, lizards, etc etc. I've been doing sits for trusted house sitters for about 5 years. As I traveled around the country. I have five star reviews from every client. I'm not doing trusted house sitters as much now that I'm stationary in Santa Cruz. Fairly new to Santa Cruz. Working a couple days a week at The Bagelry, trying to decide if Santa Cruz is the place for me to put down roots. I make sure to meet the pets beforehand if possible and get as much information as I can about their needs so that I can make sure they feel comfortable and safe with me there while their owners are out of town. I'm flexible with whether or not they want to sleep with me and how their walks are and they're different eating schedules, and habits.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Forest Springs
David cared for our three cats while we were away and performed exceptionally well. He went beyond expectations with our older cat requiring medication, ensuring she received every dose by mixing it into her food and ensuring she ate every drop. He was prompt and thorough, inspecting all three animals even when one hid. He sent detailed entertaining updates and lots of photos. I strongly recommend David for your pet care needs.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
