Alexis was so friendly and kind to our animals and family. She stayed at our home for the week while we went away and I knew everyone and everything was safe. It’s always stressful leaving the pets behind but I felt leaving them. My kitties are older. One kitty needs a pill and they are higher needs and Alexis took care of them no problem. My dog is high energy and she had fun with her. Thank you!

About: I have hosted dogs for over 15 years and have experience with many breeds. My dog Harvey was a member of Therapy Dog International. I believe that the key to well-behaved dogs is plenty of exercise so aside from wrestling and chasing, we go for long walks preferably off-leash. Our home is on the Mohawk River so water loving dogs get to swim. I take care of dogs full time. I live on a dead end street so we can take frequent short walks. We also go to the dog park. Every dog has unique qualities that require special attention and care. I watch for fear-based reactions and avoid certain situations or help to overcome anxiety.

Rebecca is excellent. She’s thorough, timely, and a great communicator. My dog felt at total ease with her, which isn’t a small feat given his anxiety. I felt completely secure having her stay with him while I was out for the day and he took to her instantly. She was easy to work and plan with. Hire her!

Haley was the perfect dog sitter for our two pups. She anticipated questions we had before we asked them, sent lots of pictures each day, and went above and beyond with their walking and exercise schedule. She’s truly the best Rover person we have had, and we can’t recommend her enough!

About: I have taken care of numerous dogs throughout the years. I have experiences with various breeds, shapes, age and sizes. I will be sure to give your pet baby love, time and attention and truly deserves. Your pet deserves nothing but the best!🐶🐾❤️ I am a full-time state worker; therefore, this will be my part-time gig (nights, weekends, some holidays). Sleeping can be arranged as long as the dog has arrangements while I work the next morning! I have fed animals and made sure to follow any dietary needs including medication, I have slept over, given plenty of walks and make sure all pets feel they’re in a safe and trusting environment. I also enjoy cuddling!😊

We had a great experience! She took wonderful care of our corgi, Jolyne, and our home while we were away. She sent lots of detailed updates, pictures, and videos, which we really appreciated and made us feel totally at ease. She also went above and beyond by bringing in our mail and taking care of the trash cans. We’d absolutely book with her again!

About: I’ve cared for dogs and cats of all ages, from energetic puppies to gentle seniors and I treat every pet like my own. I’m reliable, patient, and always focused on keeping pets comfortable. With experience in walks, feeding routines, medication support, and giving plenty of affection, I make sure every pet feels at home while you’re away. I am currently home from college so I’m pretty much free all week days! But I will do my best to always be there for your pet! I have four dogs at home and very confident that I will be able to take care of yours. My animals are very loved and social because of our loving atmosphere.

This is our second time having Lianna dog and cat sit. She was incredibly thoughtful and checked in regularly throughout our trip, including checking about medication for our dog. We loved getting the photos of our pets while away; it makes leaving a bit easier knowing we can count on Lianna to keep them company.

About: Growing up, I often pet sit and house sit for friends and family, and since then, I’ve worked full time with dogs for over a year at a training and daycare facility. I have extensive experience with all sizes, temperaments, and breeds of cats and dogs. Whether it be a feral ex street cat, a pampered house cat, a fearful pup with a bite record, or an enthusiastic family dog, there’s no pet i won’t treat with the same respect and love as I do my own. I currently work part time and will be a full time student in the fall. I’m available at most times of day although that can vary. I can also be available as early or as late as needed. My goal is always to make pet care the least stressful and most fulfilling I can for both the animal and myself. I have a lot of experience with all sorts of pets so I can easily tailor your pets experience based on their personality and needs.

Colleen is an amazing sitter! She took great care of Philly, was inquisitive about my dog/her routines. She was also VERY patient and forgiving.... my dog occasionally likes to dig through the trash apparently - she handled it perfectly. Will be coming back for services frequently! About: I’ve been taking care of dogs of all kinds since I was 10. For the past five years, I’ve regularly helped friends, neighbors, and family with their pets walking, feeding, and bathing them whenever they needed help. I’ve always had animals at home and currently have a sweet dog of my own. I truly enjoy spending time with dogs, cats and ferret and making sure they feel safe, loved, and happy while their owners are away. Pet care easily fits into my weekly routine. I’m responsible, organized, and make sure to give each pet the attention and care they deserve. I can be flexible with my schedule and always keep pet owners updated with photos and messages during each visit or walk. I provide a safe, calm, and loving environment for all pets in my care. I live in a pet-friendly home with a fenced yard where dogs can play and enjoy supervised outdoor time. I also have a friendly dog who loves company, but I can easily separate or crate pets if needed for their comfort and safety. I always make sure they feel relaxed, well-fed, and loved as if they were my own.

We can’t say enough wonderful things about Alexa! We were honestly nervous about leaving our dogs because we had a bad boarding experience in the past, but Alexa completely put our minds at ease. From the moment we met her, it was clear she genuinely cared about our dogs. She kept us updated with messages and photos, and knowing they were safe, happy, and so well cared for made it possible for us to truly enjoy our time away. When we came home, our dogs were relaxed, happy, and clearly loved. That says everything. Alexa went above and beyond, and we are incredibly grateful for the exceptional care she provided. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, compassionate, and reliable to care for their pets. Thank you, Alexa!

FAQs for House Sitting - East Glenville

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in East Glenville on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 586 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East Glenville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East Glenville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East Glenville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East Glenville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in East Glenville. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
