“I think I’ll be home 4 to 5ish. My son has us set on a boat ride 12-2 in Lake George.. I thought if you lean the gray gate against the wall where he dug, maybe that would keep him away so he doesn’t do more damage.”

“Colleen is an amazing sitter! She took great care of Philly, was inquisitive about my dog/her routines. She was also VERY patient and forgiving.... my dog occasionally likes to dig through the trash apparently - she handled it perfectly. Will be coming back for services frequently! I highly recommend this sitter.”

“Madalyn was a phenomenal sitter for our fur pack of five. She communicated with us consistently and provided compassionate care to each of our pets. We have two senior dogs and one energetic three-year-old, and she met each of their needs in addition to being attentive to the cats. She sent awesome photographs and really captured all of our animals. It was wonderful being away and knowing she was there. Madeline rocked”

About: I have hosted dogs for over 15 years and have experience with many breeds. My dog Harvey was a member of Therapy Dog International. I believe that the key to well-behaved dogs is plenty of exercise so aside from wrestling and chasing, we go for long walks preferably off-leash. Our home is on the Mohawk River so water loving dogs get to swim. I take care of dogs full time. I live on a dead end street so we can take frequent short walks. We also go to the dog park. Every dog has unique qualities that require special attention and care. I watch for fear-based reactions and avoid certain situations or help to overcome anxiety.
“Alyssa did a great job watching our two dogs. She fed them and let them out according to directions and they enjoyed spending time with her. We would book her again in the future.”

About: Hi, I’m hoping to become your pet’s new bestie. I’m a lifelong animal lover who genuinely gets excited about wagging tails, purring greetings, dramatic cat stares, zoomies, and all the little quirks that make every pet unique. Whether you need house sitting, dog walking, cat care, or a flexible helping hand, I’m happy to adapt to your pet’s routine. Early morning walks? No problem. Midday potty breaks? Absolutely. Evening snuggles and overnight stays? Happy to report for duty. I believe pets are happiest when they feel safe, loved, and understood, so I do my best to keep their routine consistent while giving them plenty of attention, affection, playtime, and care. I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own — with patience, kindness, respect, and probably a few extra compliments about how adorable they are. I’m comfortable with dogs, cats, and pets with big personalities, shy personalities, senior personalities, and “I run this house” personalities. My goal is simple: give you peace of mind while making sure your pets feel happy, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. If your pet enjoys walks, cuddles, playtime, treats, or simply having a calm and caring human nearby, we’ll probably get along great. I can’t wait to meet your furry family members! I offer a flexible schedule and understand that every pet has different needs. Whether you need early morning walks, evening drop-ins, overnight house sitting, or care while you’re traveling, I’m happy to work with your routine. My goal is to keep your pet’s day as normal and stress-free as possible while you’re away. When caring for pets in your home, I treat both your home and your pets with the same respect and care I would my own. I’ll follow your instructions closely—from feeding schedules and medications to favorite walking routes, playtime, and bedtime routines. I know every pet is unique, and I’m happy to adapt to whatever helps them feel safest, happiest, and most comfortable while you’re away. Communication is important to me, so you can expect regular updates and photos for extra peace of mind.
About: I'm a reliable and compassionate dog sitter with hands-on experience caring for dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments. As a current veterinary technician student, I bring a strong understanding of animal behavior, basic medical care, and emergency response. Whether your pup needs playtime, walks, medication, or just some extra love while you're away, I provide attentive and safe care tailored to their needs. I work Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with just a 7-minute commute. This allows me ample time for evening pet care during the weekdays. I’m also fully available on weekends. I always follow the owner's instructions, as they know their pets best, and I respect any specific rules in place. I also use my best judgment to ensure your fur babies stay safe, comfortable, and happy at all times.
“This is our second time having Lianna dog and cat sit. She was incredibly thoughtful and checked in regularly throughout our trip, including checking about medication for our dog. We loved getting the photos of our pets while away; it makes leaving a bit easier knowing we can count on Lianna to keep them company.”

“Dawn is an amazing sitter. We have two dogs one of which is older and on many meds. Dawn was able to navigate their needs without a flaw. Our dogs love Dawn and so do we. I would highly recommend booking with Dawn. Ang and Tom Jordan”

“Amanda was great! She was punctual, communicative, and took great care of our pup while we were on vacation. I would recommend her to anyone wanting peace of mind while away.”

“Jenn was as good a sitter as you could ask for! She watched my moms cat Finn and stayed at the house for a little over a week. She sent us pictures and daily updates and she was great. We would absolutely use her again. Really, I just can''t say enough good things about her!”

About: this is my dream job!!! i’m so excited to be able to hang out with your pets! i love all kinds of animals and will always go out of my way to say hello, even if that means going to the dog park without my dog. i just moved here from maine, and heading to college in chicago in the fall, so im looking to explore and area and make some extra money! We just moved into a new house and neighborhood, so I’m totally open to care for any animal as we get settled! I love taking my dog on walks and playing or napping with my cat. I also love just chatting with them about my day or reading them stories when we relax. I care for my own animals everyday, and I know how nerve wracking it is to leave them alone with someone new! I promise to make them feel so loved, safe, and make sure their bellies are full! I believe in very reliable communication and will make sure to update you on your furry friends often!
“Haley was a lovely sitter and house guest. She was on time, sent lots of updates and photos of Raven. Raven also has some very specific needs that Haley was able to accommodate. Haley was also very thoughtful with the space and even started the dishwasher and put her sheets/towels in the laundry machine. I would definitely book Haley again.”

We so appreciated the care Danica provided for our two cats while we were gone. She was very professional and conscientious, and maintained excellent communication throughout our absence, along with pictures of her interactions with our furbabies. I definitely highly recommend her!! Thank you Danica!!

Jenna was more than we could have asked for. She was skilled and confident with Cooper, she clearly has a passion and love for animals. She sent pictures and updates throughout our time away. In addition to being a gracious companion to our dog, she was extremely respectful of our home. I could not recommend her enough and look forward to working with her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Alplaus walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Alplaus maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Alplaus choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
