“Great experience with Amy keeping our small dog. Lots of photos and updates provided during our dogs stay in her home. Would use again. Thankful our dog was well cared for!”

“Matt was absolutely amazing and so easy to work with. This was our first time spending a weekend away from Kappy, and Matt really put us at ease with constant updates and photos.”

“Our pup had an amazing stay. We were put at ease by the many updates and pics of her enjoying herself. Pamela and Paul are so incredibly friendly. We will definitely book again!”

“I was having a rough time finding a sitter in time for my trip and she was perfect for my dog. She sent lots of pictures and my dog got to spend time with other dogs all day and play. She seemed very happy and well taken care of. I definitely recommend her :)”

“Grace was so welcoming for Oliver's first stay. He enjoyed her yard and hanging with her dogs and their toy basket. Grace shared lots of updates and made sure Oliver was able to settle in quickly. I felt he was in great hands while we were out of town and I look forward to Oliver spending his next stay with Grace.”

“Nathaniel was a phenomenal caregiver for my big boy, Brock! 🐾❤️ I had to book care for Brock very last minute, and Nathaniel was incredibly compassionate and accommodating to both Brock’s and my needs with such little notice. Brock had a wonderful time and was so graciously cared for. Nathaniel went above and beyond by sending me pictures and videos throughout Brock’s stay, which gave me peace of mind and reassured me that my boy was doing great. I’d also like to highlight Nathaniel’s flexibility and his personal schedule, which worked out perfectly for caring for Brock. 10 out of 10! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you so much, Nathaniel, for taking such great care of my boy! 🐶❤️”

“Was such a great host of my cat pumpkin. Sent timely updates and made sure to get the cutest pictures of her back to me during her stay! Definitely hope to book her again in the future.”

“I had the pleasure of leaving my puppy with Shanisse and Kim for 1 week while I went away. I can't lie leaving my puppy that long was extremely hard for me. She sent me pictures and videos of Coco multiple times of the day. They have a really big closed in backyard and she seemed to love running around in it. As far as Coco being in the she house she was in her own space that was sort of "fenced" in with appropriate pet friendly gates. She had her own "condo" space. They did have one dog and a cat that coco got along with but I do not believe they had much interaction. I left food, toys and instructions that I do believe they followed. The communication was very good with Shanisse and Kim. I did not have much communication with Shanisse in person but more with Kim. They seem to work well together one for caring for the pets and one for the online support. Overall my experience was very good and I will be booking again. For reference my puppy is a cavapoo and is an out 15lbs. She did very well in their home. The posting says dogs allowed on furniture but I am not sure if she was in their furniture or not because I left her own bedding and she had her own little condo.”

“Laura took excellent of Gemma while I was out of town and sent daily reviews with pics and videos. I felt very confident she was well cared for and she dealt with Gemma’s fear of storms very well. I can’t recommend her highly enough! Spoil your fur baby and let them stay with Laura!”

“Becky was such an amazing dog sitter for our little guy Uno. I was so lucky to book her last minute! She has a lovely home with a backyard for the dogs to enjoy the sunshine. She sent us plenty of cute pictures to keep us updated on our trip. Would 100% book with her again.”

“Grace took such good care of Macy for a long weekend! I got picture updates throughout her stay and she looked very happy the whole time. Looked like lots of walks and playtime”

“We could not have asked for a better sitter for Archie! Korri and her family truly welcomed him into their home and treated him like one of their own. It was so obvious from the photos and updates that he was completely happy and comfortable there. He made himself right at home, snuggled in bed, had plenty of companionship, and even developed his own little fan club when Korri’s sister started coming over just to see him! 😂❤️ Korri was wonderful about keeping us updated throughout our trip, and those little glimpses of Archie happily living his best life made it so much easier to be away from him. She also went above and beyond for us when our travel plans unexpectedly changed. We needed to extend Archie’s stay by a couple of days, and Korri could not have been more gracious or accommodating. Then, after a delayed flight home and another unexpected hiccup on pickup day, she was once again incredibly kind and flexible and assured us that Archie was welcome for as long as we needed. More than anything, we never had to worry about whether Archie was safe, happy, or loved. Knowing he was being cared for in a real home, surrounded by people and dogs who genuinely enjoyed having him there, was priceless. We are so grateful to Korri and her whole family for taking such wonderful care of our boy. We would absolutely book with her again and recommend her without hesitation. Five stars doesn’t feel like enough! 🐾❤️”

“Ronda is amazing, patient, and very caring. She kept my puppy with great care, took him on walks, and sent many pictures timely. We will definitely go back to her next time onwards. Highly recommended.”

“Mila had a great time! Peyton (and company) were very accommodating for a last minute need. I received updates with pictures showing what a fun time Mila had.”

“Tiffany is amazing! This was the first time I boarded my Simba. I was so nervous. However, Simba was very well taken care of. Tiffany kept me updated with texts and pictures. She was professional and caring toward not only Simba but me as well. Simba truly enjoyed his stay. I don’t think he wanted to come home! I will definitely use Tiffany’s services again. If you want a reliable, patient, caring, and professional person to care for your pet, Tiffany is your person!!!”

“Amelia was wonderful! She was able to accommodate a short notice booking and took great care of my baby, Coconut! Communication was easy, and I felt comfortable knowing Coconut was in good hands.”

Amy and Kris were fantastic!! They took such good care of my babies while I was preparing my house to sell for my move out of state. Constant communication and pics. My babies got to meet new friends and play outside everyday. I would highly recommend these two. I hate leaving my babies anytime but they put my mind at ease and were so loving. Thank you Amy and Kris. When we come back to town I would love for you them to stay with you again!!! I really appreciate you two.

Amanda and her partner were so incredible with our anxious girl, Marcie! They made sure to carefully introduce her to the other dogs they were sitting and Amanda sent great photo/video updates for Marcie’s full stay so I never had to worry. 10/10 would definitely rebook.

Grace took such great care of our puppy Myla. She was very communicative and sent lots of pictures and updates throughout the stay. Taking on a puppy is not an easy venture and we appreciate her willingness to not just watch Myla for the week but also give her lots of love and attention too!

This was our first time using a non-family pet sitter so we were cautious. Amy was great at communicating, arranging a park meet-up and then a home visit. While we were away, she regularly sent updates and photos. It helped us feel at ease knowing our dog was well cared for. We were very happy with Amy!

Madeline watched our beagle over the weekend. He received excellent care. We received updates. He played in the backyard with her dog. Rested in the living room on his pillow. He was all smiles and happy to see us when we picked him up. As if to say he had a fun weekend and was spoiled. I feel safe leaving him in Madeline’s care.

We highly recommend James! This was our first time leaving our dog overnight with a non-family member, so we were very nervous! It couldn’t have gone any better. James provided us with great updates during our time away and put our minds at ease! We could tell that our guy was having a blast. He cried the entire way home because he was sad to leave! Thank you taking such good care of him, James!

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
96% of sitters in Dumbarton can provide daily exercise during dog boarding stays. Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, this may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Dumbarton home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Dumbarton.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Dumbarton sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
