“Emily was the best sitter we could have asked for! We have several animals; both dogs and cats, some with medication needs. She didn’t hesitate when we explained everything, and was more than up to the task! Our 20 year old cat, Goober, had especially specific instructions (including IV fluids), and Emily did every step we asked for, and went above and beyond. She understood how difficult it was to leave Goober at this point in his life (end stage renal disease) and made making him as comfortable as possible at all points in time a huge priority. She communicated frequently, sent tons of pictures, and made our wedding time completely peaceful knowing everyone was taken care of. Our home was completely perfect getting back to and she left a very sweet “just married” card for us. She will be our go-to for all of our future house-sits.”

About: Raised around dogs of all sizes and breeds, including St. Bernards, Great Pyrenees, German Shepherds, Goldendoodles, and small breeds. I also have some cat experience and currently have a Pomsky of my own! House sitting and dog sitting for family and friends by word of mouth! Oooo I also fostered for about a year! I work full time, but I work three 12 hour shifts each week, which gives me plenty of flexibility and days off to care for your pets! I want to keep your pet’s routine and schedule as consistent as possible. Let me know what your pet needs, and I’ll be upfront if I’m unable to accommodate it. Your pet’s comfort and well being come first!
“Sarah is excellent! She took great care of my dog and cats while I was away, and I came home to a very happy crew of animals. Communication and photos were great. Will definitely hire her again and highly recommend!!!”

“Kaya was amazing and took care of our senior dog last minute and did such a great job! We 100% would use her again! She kept us updated and sent pictures while we were away, which was so nice.”

“As always Patty was/is awesome. Maggie and I don't know what we would do without her. Maggie sat watching the front door yesterday waiting for her Best Friend Patty to come back! Thank you Patty for such good care you take of Maggie and our home!”

“Sophia did a great job with both of our boys. We loved receiving the photos throughout her stay. When getting home, our dogs were noticeably relaxed and happy. We will definitely be using Sophia in the future!”

About: Animals make life so much better, and I’ve been looking after them as a side hustle for 20 years. I work full time at a library in Northern Colorado. I work full time Monday through Friday. Prefer to stay over with your animal so their routine isn’t disrupted. Love going for walks with dogs, and will make sure they get some exercise before and after my shift. I have extensive experience staying over with animals in people’s homes and am a respectful and cozy houseguest. Always happy to learn the particulars of each home.
“Chris was wonderful. She responded quickly to our initial request and was very easy to communicate with. She gave us confidence that she would be a good match for our dog who can be a bit timid at times. Chris stayed in our home and we felt very confident having her stay over. Would highly recommend Chris.”

About: Being outside a lot, having a vehicle able to bring with and transport pups to really great spots and back. I do really love dogs a lot, but just a great attitude goes along way. Really just enjoy the experience, time, and friendship. With the amount of care and consideration I put into my daily life and routine, I aim to have the compassion and respect as you do for your pets and home. Always on leash unless other wise given an okay, fed at the particular times upon request, contained at home in provided kennels if need be. For me, keeps me busy, meeting everyone, exercise, and just great time shared. Pretty new to this website and area while giving me a chance to learn all about the things to come and destinations to be had. I have pets and watch pets for friends as they are fire fighters and police officers who work long shifts so along with my own pets I just bring everyone along I have a nice 3 bedroom with lanai and walk my pets two to three times per day. Once morning, afternoon and before bed. Feeding usually 2 times per day usually requires for special needs
“Autumn was great with our 3 (somewhat sensitive ;) pups). Great communication throughout her visit. Highly recommend if you are looking for someone trustworthy to look after your pets. Thanks Autumn!”

“Grateful Amy was available and willing to house sit with a last minute request for my two dogs. Frequent updates with photos of the pups was much appreciated knowing they were being well cared for. I would definitely book Amy again.”

“Danielle pitched in at the last minute when another sitter cancelled. I was going to Guatemala and felt at ease right when meeting her. Danielle is very kind and definitely experienced. She was patient with one of my pups who can be quite reserved. My home was in great condition when I arrived after a long day of travel.”

“Scarlet, was very responsible, responsive, and trustworthy! She gave us updates throughout or trip; and never once were we worried about our dogs or home. We would most definitely recommend her if you are looking for a pet sitter :).”

“Rory was fantastic! 11ish days with my temperamental chi and his 4 kitties... I will definitely be keeping her on my shortlist for future trips! Rory sent pics and videos during my trip to help ease my anxiety of being away from the babies. I can tell my brood had a good experience!”

“Allison stayed with my dogs for a few days and showed them so much love and attention. She kept me informed with updates while I was away, which meant a lot to me. It’s clear she genuinely cares about animals, and my dogs seemed very comfortable with her.”

“Leah was amazing! She saved the day when our other Rover sitter cancelled less than 48 hours before our trip. She even made time to come meet us and the dogs on such short notice. This was our first time using Rover and leaving our girls with anyone other than close family but Leah did not disappoint. She communicated well and sent lots of updates and pictures/videos which put our minds at ease. She left our home clean and everything was in order when we returned. We are so thankful to have found her!”

“Haley was really great to work with! She was very communicative and left our house spotless and our dogs happy. We really appreicated her daily updates and felt the entire time we were away that our dogs were in great hands. Thanks Haley!”

“Marcy was fantastic! We would highly recommend her for her loving, caring and conscientious sitting of your furry loved on! Our dog felt loved and truly cared for. Marcy goes above and beyond the call of duty. We are so thankful we found Marcy!”

“Sarah did a wonderful job. This was our first time using Rover and we were a little apprehensive about leaving our two dogs and two cats with someone we didn’t know. Sarah was knowledgeable and great with our pets and kept us updated with several photos and short briefs a few times each day. Highly recommend! We’ll definitely ask her to housesit again.”

About: I provide comforting care when you can't take your fur babies with you. I give peace of mind so you know your pet is having a positive experience with me and that your home is safe and secure. I understand that each pet is different and has routines and needs of care which I will always follow. Having had pets of my own, I appreciate the individuality of each animal and feel confident in giving them the space they need or the affection they desire. From me they will always get what they need and feel cared for. I have had the opportunity to care for large and small dogs, a cat who people were afraid of but who eventually happily coexisted with me. I work full time as a remote worker so I can provide in home pet first care with ease. My work and schedule is flexible, which allows for pet care to be added into my day with little disruption to me or the pet. When I am with a pet in their home, their routine and needs come first. Besides the instructions or guidance I am given about the pet, I observe and engage with the pet to learn about them and make them comfortable and happy while I am in their home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Drake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Drake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Drake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
