About: I have grown up with dogs and have been around/worked with them all my life. Needless to say I’m very comfortable with them. I’m confident in working and caring for a dog of any age and providing any care they might need. I have also been riding horses since I was a small child and feel comfortable with any needs they might need met. Feeding, mucking out (cleaning up poo and pee), giving meds to dogs, cats, horses are all tasks I feel confident in. Side note I also feel comfortable taking care of basic reptiles, but my experience is mostly in horses, cats, and dogs. I currently work full time in inner harbor from 8 am-4:30pm. I could possibly provide care before my regular working hours depending on location. Can definitely provide care after working hours. In my home my cats are fed both wet and dry food throughout day depending on their needs. At this time I do not provide the option of caring for an animal at my house.
“Marley was so thoughtful! She left lots of notes about her visits and asked questions to let me know she really cared and gave my kitty lots of attention during her visits. Thank you!”

About: All my life, I’ve owned and cared for dogs, cats, rabbits, and hamsters, so I’m comfortable with pets of different sizes, personalities, energy levels and routines. I have experience in handling reactive dogs of all sizes as well as couch potatos. You can count on me to follow any specific feeding routines and dietary needs, as well as administering medications. Pups, kitties, bunnies, and everything in between are welcome! I'm currently working a flexible part-time schedule which gives me plenty of time to walk your reactive pup, play with your crazy cats, or sit (and crochet) while keeping your pets company! Most pets don't want strangers in their space! I pay close attention to body language, and let them set the pace so each visit feels as safe and comfortable as possible. When staying in your home, I follow your pet’s routine closely, including feeding, waste cleanup, playtime, medications, and as many walks as requested. I keep your home secure, never invite guests over, follow household instructions, and always clean up after myself.
About: I've had pets throughout my whole life, but as I got older and moved out of parents house they become very expensive. So, instead of getting my own pet, I use this site to engage myself with the precious animals. I currently work full-time through the week. I fit pet care time in on the weekends when I have nothing planned. I can totally do potty breaks after work hours. I care for the pets by giving them attention, playing with them(outdoors/indoors), feeding them, taking them outside for potty breaks, and cuddling because animals needs love too.

About: I have taken care of dogs for the past 15 years, and am an avid dog lover. I am thrilled to sign up as a pet sitter and walker and enjoy time with new friendly faces! I am currently working as a part time pet sitter/walker while moving forward in my acceptance offer to BU to pursue an online masters program. I will be available Monday-Sunday any time to care for your pets! Safety is so important! I currently carry extra dog leashes, a harness if needed, dog treats, pet corrector spray, a safety back seat dog cover in my car. I know a few local dog parks that are fenced in, quiet and safe to play too. I know CPR and am happy to continue any training or routines your family conducts.

“Michael did a great job cat sitting our 2 cats.He scheduled a visit beforehand to meet us and the cats and to get information regarding their schedule and all the particulars. He is professional, dependable, and responsive. Next time we need a cat sitter, we will definitely use him again.”
“10/10, I would absolutely book with her again! She made the entire experience seamless from start to finish. Communication was excellent, everything went smoothly, and I felt completely at ease knowing my pets were in great hands. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would definitely recommend her to others.”

Being retired gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to devote to your pets, providing attentive, dependable care without rushing or juggling another job. About: Hi there! My name is Lena, I'm 38 years old, and have been pet sitting professionally on and off for the last eighteen years. I started officially petsitting out in San Francisco and after moving back east, I professionally pet sat for a local company in the DC area for two years. I have experience in taking care of dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, turtles, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, and pigs. I love animals and enjoy taking care of them, so your pet will be in very safe and capable hands! My wife, who also works remotely full time helps me on occasion with taking care of your pets. You can check out her Rover profile at: https://www.rover.com/sit/sheiip87322 We guarantee that your pet will always be taken care of no matter what! I require meet and greets before confirming bookings with new clients. This is so we can both make sure that we’re a good fit, so please keep this in mind when choosing me as your sitter and allow sufficient time for this. I will not take new clients without meet and greets! *Pictures are of my cats and some of my dog walking and petsitting clients. I currently work as a freelance videographer/photographer and live in Edgewater. I have a very flexible schedule and mostly work remotely. I currently have three cats, so I’m used to having fur babies by my side 24/7. At the moment, I’m not accepting boarding clients. When I do stay at your home, I follow whatever routine your pet is used to. I know animals tend to stick to routines and try to be mindful of their daily schedules.
About: Hi guys! My name is Emily, I’m a 27 year old who loves animals. I really like to read, go to concerts with my friends, and spend time with my family. I’ve been house sitting and pup sitting for over 10 years now. My availability is very open at the moment considering I’m doing school virtually. Please feel free to contact me anytime for all of your dog, cat, fish, bird, turtle, hamster, cow, horse, etc needs! I also have a huge vegetable/flower garden so have plenty of experience with that if necessary. Look forward to hearing from you! I currently am working part time and doing school virtually so I have a very flexible schedule that would allow me plenty of time to help care for your babies! I’ve had 10 plus years experience with pet sitting so have had to handle many different situations that have made me a better sitter. I’m prepared for anything and love these pets as my own!
About: I am not only pets friend and lover, but also there strong defender. A whole my life i was surrounded by forest animals and domestic pets. I love to spend my time with animals. They bring me a peace and kęp me moving. I can’t imagine my life without them. I I keep them safe, happy and relaxed. I give them not only food and water, but also love and care. I take a lot of them.
About: I've had dogs since I was 9 years old. Friends and family rely on me to walk and feed their dogs. I love playing and caring for dogs! I mostly work from home during the week so I am able to be fully present and attentive to those I am watching during that time. I stick to a schedule based on what their owner has told me what their needs are. I like to stick to their walking and feeding routine, as well as gaining their trust so they are comfortable in my home.
About: I’ve had pets in my household for as long as I can remember, they’ve always been part of my life. Right now I share my home with a cat I adore. Animals have my whole heart, and caring for them comes naturally to me. I treat every pet like family my own included because to me, they’re not just animals, they’re my kids. If you trust me with your pet, I promise they’ll get the same unconditional love I give my own. I work a hybrid schedule, typically in the office just 1-2 days a week. That means I’m home most days and able to give your pet plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship throughout the day, not just quick check-ins before and after work Safety is second nature to me, I’ve had pets since childhood and know exactly what foods and everyday items are dangerous for dogs and cats. I’m also no stranger to handling the unexpected. I’ve faced situations where something happened to one of my own pets, and I’ve had to think fast and act quickly to keep them safe. Whatever comes up, you can count on me to stay calm, resourceful, and ready to jump into action.
About: What sets me apart is the genuine love and respect I have for dogs. I believe dogs are not just pets—they are cherished members of the family. I treat every dog in my care with patience, kindness, and attention, just as I would my own. My goal is to give dog parents complete peace of mind, knowing their fur baby is safe, loved, and well cared for while they’re away. • Puppy training & obedience reinforcement • Senior dog care & medication administration • Positive reinforcement training • High-attention, compassionate care • Reliable routines & clear communication I allow pets on all furniture, my bed, my chairs, couches. I don’t believe that pets shouldn’t be allowed on furniture. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, as I currently have ample time and flexibility to dedicate to dogs in my care. This allows me to provide consistent attention, regular potty breaks, playtime, walks, training reinforcement, and plenty of companionship throughout the day. After recently losing my own dog to kidney failure, I understand deeply how important it is to trust someone with your fur baby. That experience has strengthened my commitment to providing attentive, compassionate care and treating every dog as if they were my own. I’m able to give dogs my undivided attention, whether that means extra comfort for senior dogs, structured routines for puppies, or simply being present to ensure they feel safe, loved, and at ease. My goal is to give dog parents complete peace of mind, knowing their fur baby is receiving the same care, patience, and love I would want for my own.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Donovans Pier
I completely trust Heather with my sweet senior rescue! I was on a longer trip than I wanted to be due to a family commitment, and only was going to do the trip if i didn’t have to board him. Although a friend was able to housesit with him at night, she works full-time. Heather came to the rescue and did three check-ins each day for four days straight (walks and feedings)! She is so affectionate with him, and he just loves her. Knowing Heather was checking in on him kept me from being completely distraught! She also was so patient and understanding when I had an issue with my lockbox, and we had to temporarily pivot to another solution. Heather is a pet sitter extraordinaire!

Shannon took wonderful care of our cats, Palmira and Pliges! She sent detailed updates and lots of photos after every visit, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She gave them plenty of affection and playtime, paid attention to their eating habits, and even tidied up around the litter box. She was kind, thoughtful, and went above and beyond. We would happily book her again and highly recommend her!
Stacie was great and I’d absolutely book with her again. She was flexible, communicative, and clearly took great care of my cats while I was away. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled, kept me updated, and gave me real peace of mind during my trip. It was obvious from the updates and from how my cats acted afterward that they were comfortable with her and well cared for. I really appreciated her attention to detail and the care she put into everything. Highly recommend.

Mara was amazing at caring for my very senior special needs dog and our other dog who doesn't warm up to people so well (but Mara's energy won her over). She provided great pictures to let us know they were doing well. Also, I appreciated how she accommodated our last minute booking when I was having trouble finding anything dog sitter. She's highly skilled and a literal dog whisperer. :-)

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
