“I highly recommend Susana for a dog sitter! She was incredibly responsive from start to finish, which gave us so much peace of mind. Our dogs absolutely loved her — it was clear they were comfortable, happy, and well cared for the entire time. We came home to relaxed pups and a tidy house. Truly a wonderful experience, and we’d book with her again in a heartbeat!”

“Wow! Jan and Paul are the dynamic duo of house/ pet-sitting! My partner and I were nervous leaving our two hyper dogs and testy cat for a long weekend, but we had no reason to be. Paul was so attentive and caring, and Jan was so communicative and kind. We are so lucky to have found these two wonderful caregivers. We already booked our second trip and can rest easy knowing our girls will be in great hands. Thank you J + P! See you soon <3”

“Roree!!!!! You took such great care of Chewy! Thank you for the daily communication and pictures! I truly appreciate the care you gave my little baby🐱this is the first time I have felt so happy with the person caring for him while I was gone, and I could tell when I got home that he was well taken care of while I was gone. Thank you so much!”

About: I’ve been dog sitting for different families for about two years and have really enjoyed it. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe and comfortable when their owners are away, so I do my best to keep their routines consistent and give them plenty of attention, care, and affection. Whether it’s feeding, walking, playing, cleaning up after them, or just spending time with them, I treat every dog as if they were my own. Families have trusted me to care for their dogs, and I take that responsibility seriously. I do work part time, I work full 8 hour days on Thursdays and sometimes Fridays. The other days I work 5-6 hours. I’m usually off around 4:30 or 5 but my start times vary. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I do my best to keep their routine as normal as possible. I follow all instructions provided by the owner, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medication (if needed), and any special care requirements. I make sure pets have plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship while also respecting the client’s home and keeping it clean and secure. My goal is for both pets and owners to feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for while they’re apart
“I have two large quirky dogs and one is a velcro dog. I can always tell with my velcro dog if it went well with the sitter based on how clingy she is when I get home. My dogs barely cared when I got home! Annemarie did a great job caring for my two, I will definitely look to rebook with her in the future.”

“Brooklyn did a fantastic job watching our two morkies over a weekend period. We especially appreciated her proactive style of communication, her calm when dealing with any issues, and of course all the pictures of our pups throughout the day while we were away. Would definitely recommend her services and book with her again. Thanks Brooklyn!”

“Michaela is super attentive, and went above and beyond in taking care of our German Shepherd during a weekend trip. She handled our dog’s meds perfectly, and sent regular updates and photos that assured us that Lua was having a great time. Thanks again Michaela!!”

About: I have had dogs for my entire life! I currently have 2 dogs. Both are Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Trinity is our senior girl 13 yrs old, and Shira who is 2. I have had the most experience with big dogs (mainly German Shepherds and now Rhodesian Ridgebacks). I have done Schutzhund with my shepherds and have done dog shows and obedience shows locally with my Ridgebacks. Our dogs and the ones I take care of are always my priority. I treat all dogs like they are mine so they get all the love, snuggles, and attention they want. I have a safe and secure home and yard. We have a 3/4 acre completely fenced back yard fenced to 6 feet high. We are in the country and have lots of bunnies for them to chase. We also have a creek on our property that in good weather would be fun for the dogs to play in. I have some agility equipment that I will break out when the weather is nice and let dogs go through those or show them how. For rainy days we have toys and dog puzzles to keep their minds active. We also have a shop that I can put up agility equipment when the weather is lousy and cold so they can chase each other around in there if they are getting antsy. I also do daily obedience with my own dog and any other dog that is with me and wants to join in. While most of my experience has been with big dogs, I will work with any style and breed of dog after I meet them and we get to know each other. I also have experience working with packs of dogs, as at one time, I had a large pack of both German Shepherds, and then Ridgebacks. I also have a lot of experience working with puppies and can help with basic training. I seem to have a knack to help dogs who normally don’t eat or are very nervous when being left with someone else. I have had many boarders who’s moms and dads said were picky eaters or wouldn’t eat for a couple of days and somehow with me they eat well, don’t miss meals, and many times expand their diets. If you have a dog that takes medication I can, and have, administered meds that their parents bring. But I will only administer prescription meds written by a licensed veterinarian to the specific dog with explicit instructions. Bottom line, I don’t just “board” dogs. They are part of the family and treated as such until you get back. They Are talked to, interacted with by my dogs and myself and my husband all day long. They aren’t just put in a room or left outside to fend for themselves. They are truly being loved and cared for from the minute they are dropped off until the minute you pick them up. My husband and I are retired so I am full time at home now. So I can board 7 days a week. And overnight care at my house will be my specialty as you never have to worry about your dog being left for hours during the day or night. I have a very “dog friendly” home. That being said my house is clean and fairly tidy. I clean daily to make sure the dogs are in the best environment. My goal is to have your dog go home with you better than when they came. If they are full of mud from playing outside in the rain they will be washed and dried before they go home. If their nails are too long I will cut them (if the dog allows). If they need to be brushed, I will brush them and often give them a massage…this is especially good for the nervous dogs. If they are scared and feel nervous they will be returned happy and calm from being pampered while you were away. Our dogs are allowed on the furniture including our bed and can play inside or outside with my dogs who are very friendly to other dogs and people. I don’t crate any of my dogs and don’t require dogs that stay with me to be crated during the day or night. If you prefer your dog to be crated at night I will follow your instructions if you bring the crate that they are used to. Many of the dogs that I board sleep in our bed but they also have very plush beds throughout our home that they can sleep on overnight or during the day for naps. Wherever they feel more comfortable sleeping is fine with me even if they don’t want to be in our room with us and our dogs.
“Kylie did an amazing job watching my girls!! She took good care of them and provided me with updates whenever I wanted and checked in with me on her own (including sending photos). She left my house immaculate (especially being here 2 weeks) and she is incredibly kind and thoughtful! I highly recommend her for others looking for a pet sitter and will definitely request her when I need a pet sitter in the future!”

“Lilly did an exceptional job with our dogs, and with very short notice. Our dogs are a little high maintenance, and need a lot of exercise and attention so coming home to happy and content dogs was awesome! We can’t thank you enough, everything looks great, and Thor and Blue are happy! If you’re looking for a responsible dog sitter, Lilly is it! She’s kind, trustworthy and an animal lover! Thanks again, Lilly 🥳”

About: In my life I’ve taken care of 3 mid sized dogs as well as around 8 cats. I’m new to the profession pet sitting and care aside from friends and family but I know that for the rest of my life I want to spend time with our animal friends and learn more about them! I have full availability with scheduling. I have transportation to do in house visits but pickup and drop offs might get difficult depending on the size of your dog. I can make regular stops at your place to do check-ins/feedings/walks. I would be able to do longer visits if needed or even overnight if available.

“Erin helped us out in a pinch that required some extra communication and a handoff. She was professional, communicative and helpful, and we were confident that the pets were well cared for. We wouldn’t hesitate to use her services again!”

“Shane was awesome. We felt very comfortable after meeting him that he would do a good job taking care of our dogs. He even took out our garbage and recycling cans for pickup and brought in the mail. Thanks Shane!!”

“Our family needed Jacob during a very difficult time. Jacob was kind, prompt, and immediately hit it off with our girls (Bear and Tookie). He was available to provide last minute care for our fur babies and sent updates daily on their well-being. We will definitely utilize Jacob‘s services in the future. He comes highly recommended by all our family members!”

“Breauna was amazing with our dog Joey! He has some anxiety especially when he's separated from us but she did a great job of taking care of him and making him feel secure. She exceeded expectations by taking him on walks that were not necessary and sending us lots of pictures and updates! She was also very respectful of our home and we came back to the place just as neat as we had left it. Very kind and amazing vibes, well definitely be using her again!! Thank you so much!!!”

About: While I've grown up with dogs and cats, I also have professional pet sitting experience taking care of dogs with diabetes, blind cats, guinea pigs, and even a llama! Pets and their caretakers have trusted me so much, they have flown me to their new homes after moving out of state for further petsitting assignments. I give emotional connection and comfort to pets while they're missing their humans, even reading aloud to them, because I believe it is an integral part of the job. Currently, this is my primary work, so I will have time to spare to take care of your animals. I volunteer regularly at animal sanctuaries and other orgs to improve the lives of animals. I have typically been asked to spend the night with the pets in the client's home, and spend as much time with them as possible, but I can also make daily visits instead if necessary. If you prefer I make visits, keep in mind the distance it would take for me to get to your place, and consider allowing me to make fewer, longer visits instead of multiple brief ones throughout the day.
About: I have cared for many different kinds of pets/animals in my life growing up and I love to show all animals affection. They are so unique in their own ways. ♡ I am sadly allergic to cats. If you have a cat and a dog, I will only be able do quick care for both pets and walk the dog. For I am unable to house sit so I can give my best performance. Im excited to show your pets lots of love and care! Please, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me. :) I am very flexible on my schedule and happy to work around what is best for us both. Pet care is always my top priority. Communication is key so please just let me know what is required + wanted and I will do what is needed to the best of my ability. That being feeding/watering, taking them on walks, dog parks, letting them out to do the do and so much more.
“Marie was amazing!!! I am such a helicopter fur mama but I was quickly assured they were in great hands. Thorough communication, lovely updates, and my pups + kitty were as happy as can be when I came home. Will definitely be reaching out again in the future! Thank you so much Marie! 🙌 Moose, Evie, & Mazzy miss you already! ☺️🐾”

“Sierra was perfect for my high-energy puppy. She completely understood how demanding a young dog can be, making sure he got plenty of exercise and playtime. The photo updates she sent were fantastic and so fun to receive. I came home to a spotless house and a very tired, happy dog. Highly, highly recommend her to anyone!”

FAQs for House Sitting - Dole
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 3,662 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Dole. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dole walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dole maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dole choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dole. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
