“I felt very at ease leaving my dog with Christopher. He sent all kinds of great updates, snuggling, and playing. My dog is high energy and reactive, and they got along great. My dog also had a Minor injury and Chris went above and beyond to stay with him and keep an eye on things making sure he couldn’t make it worse.”

“We couldn’t be more grateful for the amazing care Trie provided for our 13-year-old Maltipoo. He has a tough time with separation anxiety and often struggles with eating when we're away, but Trie was absolutely incredible with him. She stayed by his side, took him on several walks a day, and knew exactly how to encourage him to eat. Trie sent us frequent updates and lots of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. For the first time, we were able to truly relax on vacation knowing our fur baby was in such loving hands. She is incredibly sweet, gentle, kind, and attentive — exactly the kind of person you’d hope to find to care for your pet. We’ll definitely be booking with her again for any future travel!”

“Christine did her usual wonderful job taking care of our Bobby. She has such patience with our almost 15 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She is very responsible and reliable! We so appreciate her and highly recommend her as a petsitter/housesitter.”

“Jennifer was caring and respectful of our wishes with the care of our pets. The daily photos of them having fun together was reassuring. I highly recommend Jennifer with the responsibility of caring for your pet family.”

About: I always loved and had dogs. Until I had a small size dog I have realized that leaving them at home is very heartbreaking. I have a 12year old Maltese girl. I always looked for someone to take care of her when I was not available. Now, I want to be that person for your little precious ones. I can be their companion when you are not available. I can maintain the same standards you provide as much as I can. Little ones have access to my couch, bed, lap as long as they want or I have different types of beddings around my apartment if they feel like being alone. (My dog is very independent, sometimes she prefers sleeping alone.) They won't be alone for a long time. Maybe just a short period of time such as grocery visit, I have a camera at my home so I can monitor how they are doing. Looking forward to meet them soon! ❤️ I’m currently studying and working from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pups in my care. We usually have two long walks and one shorter outing each day. On weekends, we enjoy exploring nearby parks and spending extra time outdoors. I have a friendly Maltese who enjoys the company of other dogs. My home is pet-proofed and set up to keep pets safe and comfortable, with crates, cozy pet beds, toys, a home monitor, and access to an outdoor area. I follow each pet’s routine closely and make sure they receive attention, exercise, and a calm environment.

About: I have taken care of friends and families pets a few times over the years. I’ve walked dogs. Given meds. Refill food and water. I normally spend the overnights with the pets. Lots of pets and snuggles are always given. I do work 2 jobs so I would be there every morning for morning routines. On the days I have my 2nd job I will come back between jobs for check in and potty. I’ll come back and spend each night for nighttime routine. I work 2 jobs. I have time in between the jobs to do a midday check in. I am able to do overnights. I would be there each morning for morning routines. Midday check in between jobs. Come back each night for nighttime routine. Days that I don’t have my 2nd job I’d be in for the night after my first job. I will not be able to care for pets in my home at this time. I care for pets in a home by sticking to a normal routine. Let them out when needed. And most importantly give them lots of pets and snuggles!

“Sarah was great! She took the time to meet with me ahead of time to review Lucy's special needs. She even did research ahead of time so she would be familiar with her disorder. She arrived on time and communicated quickly every time I reached out. Lucy seemed very happy upon my return. She helped keep the house in order and even watered my plants. She is extremely kind and caring. I have fully confidence in leaving Lucy in her care. I will definitely continue to request Sarah as I need assistance.”

“Kirsten was wonderful. She was prompt and took great care of my dog Shotz. I appreciated the pictures and updates. Shotz seemed to like her as well. I would definitely have her dog sit again!”

“Erin took care of our dogs at the last minute after our dog sitter canceled on us. She came to visit and meet the dogs. She sent pics of the dogs daily. She took great care of our pups and even bought them a gift. How sweet! We would highly recommend her to stay with your dogs.”

About: Hi! I am a 50-year-old Mom living in Derry. I have a lifetime of experience with animals such as cat care, dog care, turtle and tortoise care, rabbits, chickens, hamsters. I am also experienced in many household chores, cleaning, moving, personal assistant work, office work. I have e experience in senior care with light housekeeping, meal prep, errands and companionship. I am open and caring and love to help all people. My daughter and I do a lot of philanthropic work for Animal Shelters, Homeless Shelters and Foster Care children. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors. I have a small townhouse house where I live with my 4 cats and 2 tortoises. I am looking forward to meeting you and helping care for your loved ones. I have a flexible schedule to spend quality time with your pets as well as enough time for feeding, cleaning and playing. I am currently unemployed after a lay off and spend my days helping care for pets. My pets are a high priority in my house. They are treated with kindness and respect and it is understood that they all have different personalities. They have their own room in the house and various beds and toys in different places. We do 2 feedings a day, a fountain water bowl and treats.
“Becky was a fantasy dog sitter during our 11 night trip out of the country. She sent us photos and updates every day and immediately brought up any concerns. She took our pup for walks even though we have a big back yard and gave him lots of pets and snuggles. She went above and beyond bringing in our mail and watering the plants too. We’ve already booked her for our next out of town vacation.”

“Sam was amazing! We have a very senior dog who has some issues, and Sam was so great with her and so understanding! She kept in contact and sent photos, letting us know how Piper was doing. She went above and beyond, and we came home to a happy dog. I would recommend Sam to everyone! Thank you so much, Sam!”

About: We treat animals as parents would with a child. It's all about knowing that every creature has a personality of their own and taking the appropriate approach for positive behavior and training. We work full-time, yet we make time for evening walks with our youngest dog (if the temperature is bearable). On the weekends, we take her for 1-2 walks within the two days. Late Spring to mid Fall is the best time for outdoor fun. We have another older dog that is crate trained if they need to be caged in because of visitors. If a dog is trained well enough to not run off, we do have a wide open backyard they can run around in.

“Mikayla stayed with our active Jack Russell for 2 weeks while we were away. I never worried about our pup, knowing that she was being taken care of and played with. Mikayla shared updates and pictures, and answered promptly when I checked in with her. I recommend her without hesitation, we have never been so at ease while away.”

“Tiffany was great! Our pets had never stayed with anyone except family and she agreed to do a meet and greet with us first to ease our minds. She took everything we said seriously and didn’t make us feel like crazy pet parents! Came back to very happy animals. Will definitely book with her again in the future.”

“Allison was truly a blessing and if I ever need this service again, I will absolutely contact her! This was my first time ever leaving for multiple days and our planned sitter (a friend of ours) fell through shortly before our trip. Allison gave us the peace of mind that our dog's would be taken care of. She stayed with them for more time than I had even dared hope for and sent us regular updates. She was transparent, responsible, respectful and kind. Upon our return it was obvious that our dogs missed us but it was also obvious that they had been well cared for and treated with nothing but love and kindness. I can't possibly be even more thankful than I am.”

“Indigo stayed for a few nights to watch my dog and cat giving them lots of cuddles walks and keeping me apprised of how everyone was doing with frequent updates and photos. Indigo left the house spotless and would be welcome back anytime.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Derry Village
This is about the third time Sandy has taken care of our kittes and home, and she always does an outstanding job. It allows me to fully relax and enjoy our travels because I know that our babies are happy. They used to get so freaked out when they saw the suitcases come out. Bu now they just look on as we prepare for our trip, knowing that their friend Sandy will soon arrive to entertain them.

Jennifer was amazing while we were away on vacation. Upon meeting Jennifer I knew she would be a great fit for us. Our dogs loved her and she is on top of everything. Our dogs were well taken care of and I received notes and pictures all week. I never once worried while we were away. Will definitely use her again and would highly recommend !

Andrea watched our two dogs and did a fantastic job! Especially given that it was a last minute request she was incredible to work with and the dogs loved her right off the bat! Would recommend her to anyone, and look forward to working with her in the future! Thank you Andrea!!

Danielle was awesome and handled probably the weirdest request effortlessly. We asked Danielle to come to our RV to watch our dogs while we were in a wedding. We got updates, pictures, she gave meds, everything was perfect. We appreciate her so much and would highly recommend her for your pet sitting needs!

I had a wonderful experience with Emily. She is incredibly responsive, always quick to reply to messages, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She was super easy to work with, beginning with our meet and greet to coordinating details, everything was smooth and stress-free. Panelo was well cared for and happy, and my home was left in excellent condition. Highly recommend and would absolutely book again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Derry Village walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Derry Village maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Derry Village choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
