“Kimberly was very attentive and professional. She replied to messages almost immediately and provided updated information and photos about the pets. It definitely made me feel more at ease during my trip. I would definitely be booking her services in the future.”
About: I pride myself on communication and will always prioritize your pets and their needs while I care for them. I am able to administrate medication and comfortable with any kind of pet. I do this full-time and enjoy making genuine connection with pets and their families. Whether it be play time in the backyard or snuggles up on the couch with a good TV show, I am ready for it all! I do believe that pets succeed best in their own environment and I do my very best to keep their routines stable. I will always treat your home as if it is my own and am more than happy to grab mail, water plants, and put trash bins out.
“Jazmine is amazing! My dog is not used to being around a lot of people and she was very patient with her and gained her trust. Now Chloe absolutely loves her ❤️”

“Amanda took exceptional care of my three dogs, Lady, Cassidy, and Draco, while I was away. From the very beginning, her communication stood out. She kept me updated throughout the day with thoughtful messages, photos, and little stories about how each dog was doing. Amanda went above and beyond from sticking to feeding and walk schedules, giving them affection and maintaining their routines perfectly. It’s rare to find someone this reliable and compassionate. I would trust her with my dogs any time and can’t recommend her enough! 10/10 would definitely recommend booking her to take care of your fur babies. And please I need her for days when I’m away! ☺️ Thank you Amanda”

“What a wonderful person. So eager to care for the biggest baby/needy pets around. My fur babies took to her right away. There for me even with an unexpected obligation. I look forward to having her as my go-to for my pet setter.”

About: Hi, my name is Lydia! I love to take care of animals, from dogs to cats to fish and guinea pigs, etc. I have two miniature pinchers, Hazel and Alex. They are both 2 years old with some big personalities. Alex is more on the curious and playful side while Hazel just loves to cuddle. If you want to board your pets then they will always have their company :) Please feel free to reach out anytime you need someone to watch your pet(s) I would be more than happy to watch them. My schedule is flexible. I’m a student but both my classes and work are online so I’m sure we can work out a schedule that works for both of us! I will care for your pet as if they were my own pet, and if there are certain routines that a pet has I will make sure to follow them.

About: I have loved and cared for dogs and cats for most of my life. I was lucky enough to travel with my family, showing Standard and Giant Schnauzers expanding my knowledge and love for breeds of all sizes and personalities. Throughout my adulthood I have enjoyed caring for my friend’s pets while they were away. I just recently moved to Fayetteville and I miss having pets now and would like to be able to get some sloppy kisses, hugs and purrrrfect companionship and would love the opportunity to care for part of your family while you are away. Walks, playtime and snuggles are a daily routine. Special Skills I am well acquainted with taking care of puppies, and senior dogs with medical needs. I have trained dogs through obedience classes. I’m currently on Summer break and have full weeks of time off from June 1 through August 15th, 2026. The rest of the months I am free from Friday evenings through Sunday evening for home sitting. Holidays I am also free. I follow directions carefully and treat your pet and home as if they were mine. I am happy to text or send picture updates as requested.
“OMG! Carrie was amazing! She took the time to get to know my two dogs ahead of the sitting. She learned their routine and provided extra TLC to the pups. Carrie was flexible and timely. She also communicates any and all issues. For example, one of the pups had "nervous poop" and she let me know about it in case it turned bad and he had to go to the vet. She also spent time with the pups, reinforcing positive training behavior. I will definitely use Carrie's services in the near future and would highly recommend her for any pet sitting needs. Big Thanks to Carrie for taking such great care of the pups.”

“Awesome dog sitter!! Super flexible and does everything you request and truly cares for them. I’m a crazy dog mom and she is the only sitter I’ll ever trust to watch my three puppies.”

About: I have always had a dog or cat (or both) my entire life. Right now I have a dog that is almost 3 years old that I am working on socializing more. We got him less than a year ago and he was so frightened of the world and people in general, but he is slowly getting better. I have trained the two dogs I got before I moved out of my parents home and they are still thriving and very well trained. I have been pet sitting for neighbors, family, and friends for a long as I can remember. I love animals and I love building trust with one. I am available most days out of the week, but also go to the gym and have to take care of my animals as well. I have a very friendly dog that I can bring to your home, with permission of course, to play with your furr babies if needed. I typically have my own dog sleep with me at night and crate train him while I leave my home. Let me know if you have a preference on how I handle your animals whether it be putting them in the crate when I leave, if they prefer running around in your backyard versus a walk, etc.
“Taylor was nothing short of INCREDIBLE! Finding someone you can truly trust with your fur babies is though, and Taylor made us feel so very at peace with her taking care of them! From many photos of them every time she visited, to constant comprehensive updates of how they were doing; we never once felt like we were out of the loop. Taylor followed all our directions and was incredibly responsive to all our messages and requests. This gave us so much peace of mind! She met us before our set up sitting request to meet everybody. She also came to watch after them when our travel plans got delayed. Taylor went above and beyond, and completely exceeded our expectations!!”

About: I have owned and cared for dogs and cats throughout their lifecycle, from nursing kittens to sending old pups to doggy heaven. I know what it takes to give animals attention and make them feel cared for. I work from home and make my own schedule, so I can work with any schedule and care commitments. I also walk often, so taking dogs out for some healthy exercise is right up my alley. I have two cats (both female) and two dogs. I have owned both all my life, so I have every kind of experience (good and bad!) and can handle it all!
“Great sitter! She stayed in my home for a last minute trip and was awesome. My pets took to her immediately at the meet and greet. I have two dogs, a young german shepherd and 14 year old yorkie, and she catered to both of their needs. My yorkie is usually unsure of new people but took to Jennifer right away. Received frequent updates and plenty of pictures throughout the stay. Left my home clean and the pups very happy. Will not hesitate to book again.”

Sent many pictures. Went above and beyond with communication while I was gone. Spent hours with my cat and cleaned his ears, cat box is cleaned regularly, overall i definitely recommend Austin. He took notes during the meet and greet to stick to my schedule.

Kimberly was awesome with our pups. They loved her and she was great at communicating with us while we were away. She sent updates and photos which eased the anxiety of leaving them home. We recommend Kimberly to anyone needing a pet sitter and won’t hesitate to book her again!

Christina was great with my puppers and everyone was happy and healthy when I came home! She sent pictures daily, even though I was distracted with family and not always able to check in. Being able to open my phone when I got the chance and know my babies were happy, was a stress off my plate. ♥️

Gwen is fantastic, taking care of our dog while we were on vacation was great for our dog and us also. Bogey was totally content when we got back, really don’t think he even missed us. It was great that he didn’t have to adjust to different surroundings, or his routine was not affected. Gwen would send pictures and messages letting us know how he was doing. We will definitely contact Gwen the next time we need someone to sit with Bogey. Highly recommend Gwen!

Molly was a breath of fresh air, we desperately needed someone to watch our fur kids over the fourth of July weekend and she came in clutch. She was great with our animals, even the one that doesn't get along with everyone. She promptly sent us updates everyday and brought up any concerns with our animals. Would recommend her a hundred times over and very thankful to have found someone with the professionalism and patience that she has with animals.

Elizabeth has been amazing house sitting for us! She takes care of our dogs, chickens, quail, and everything at our house. She is always very flexible with changes and has amazing communication. Each day she sends pictures or updates. Highly recommend Elizabeth if you are looking for a house sitter or pet sitter!
THE ABSOLUTE BEST! That is where I start. We had to book him in a pinch and we were able to get a meet and greet in with Khalil and our 3(65# plus) dogs. The meet and greet went great and he showed up on time 3 days later. We received photos every single day. He stayed in our home and was able to keep them entertained while there. The photos we received they were always looking happy. We were gone for 10 days and when we came back it was like we had just left with the house being clean. Khalil stayed in our guest room. We didn't ask him to but he took the sheets off of the bed and put them in the laundry room. The dishes he had used were put in the dishwasher. Main thing was to take care of our dogs and he went above and beyond on that! We will absolutely recommend Khalil to anyone and everyone looking for short and long term stays. Khalil was very responsive. We will be going back to him when we have to be out of town again. Khalil made it so easy to trust that they would be in good hands and taken care of the entire time. I could go on and on. An overall phenomenal experience.

We are so happy to have connected with Marsi and extremely thankful for the excellent care our 5 cats received while we were away! They can be a handful, but she loved them like her own, paid attention to their every need, respected their every cat demand, and took wonderful care of the home as well. A delightful, respectful, and very professional pet sitter! Thank you for everything <3

Hero dog sitter! Brittany literally came to the rescue for our pups and is kind, sweet, and really cares. Long story ahead, but important. We initially hired a different sitter to housesit our pups Monday-Friday. We left our house very early Monday to travel to Puerto Rico and expected the sitter to arrive mid to late morning. While traveling, the other sitter I initially hired told me she was in another state due to weather and was trying to get to our house as soon as possible. She said she had a family member that routinely helps her and was headed to our house immediately to take care of our pups until she could get there. I felt I needed to accept this plan since I was already very far away and did not have notice or time to change anything. I got a few updates the rest of Monday that the pups were being taken care of, and that everything was fine. I woke up Tuesday morning in PR and felt something was just “off”, so I checked my security cameras and no one had ever come to my house. No one arrived to housesit or take care of my dogs, ages 18, 15, and 2. I began panicking as I realized they had been alone for over 24 hours while I thought the other sitter’s family was with them. I logged on to Rover and sent out basically an emergency message to anyone it would allow me to message that was available the same day. Within a few minutes Brittany responded that she could help. This is such a busy time of year with the holidays and travel and she stopped everything to take over house sitting for the rest of the week. When she got to my house, thank GOD, my dogs were okay. They were hungry and thirsty and Brittany had a mess from them being alone for almost 30 hours at this point. She fed them and cleaned up and immediately sent me pictures and videos to show me they were okay. I had already checked to see how fast I could return to NC myself but it would have taken over 24 hours. For the rest of our trip Brittany took excellent care of my dogs and reassured me they were okay. I am handling the situation with the other sitter and I have no idea when she made it back to NC but she, nor her helper ever arrived to my house or checked with me since to see if my dogs were okay. I want to let everyone know that Brittany is amazing and will take care of your pets like her own!!
Halee is hands down the greatest. She did way more than I had asked for in a tremendous way. I told her one of my concerns was my little one having accidents (on purpose) when I'm not around. She checked on my boys more frequent than I had originally requested, to help with that issue. And guess what?-No spiteful accidents! She is very proactive and a problem-solver. I had last minute changes and she was flexible to work with me. I will absolutely be using Halee forever! 100/10.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost of House Sitting in Cumberland is $33 per night as of November 2026. Most bookings cost between $19 and $61 per night. On Rover, sitters set their own rates based on factors such as their experience, the length of care, the number of pets, and your pet’s specific needs. As long as your booking dates and pet profiles are accurate, the price shown before you confirm is the total, including any booking fee.
As of November 2026, there are 448 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cumberland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cumberland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cumberland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cumberland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
