I have volunteered at a dog rescue, and I have experience walking and sitting all sorts of dogs— small, large, young and excited, old and a bit slower, trained, untrained. I've raised dogs and cats and have done the whole shabang- training, potty-training, cleaning up messes, etc. I understand things happen and am patient with them. I'm happy to play with your pets, take dogs on walks, and give them extra love while you are away! I am a clear, honest communicator. I want you to be aware if anything happens you need to know about to ensure the safety of your pet. I have been on your end of Rover, and I know how nerve-wracking it can be to leave your pet with someone you don’t know very well. So I will send consistent updates and pictures, and be available for any questions from you. I can’t wait to meet your furbaby! I will treat them as my own 🩵 I work from home and have a very flexible schedule. I have a few meetings spread through the day, but most of the time, I can make drop ins/walks work with whatever schedule is needed. And if I am dog sitting, I will be home all day since I work from home. At my home, I have a fenced in yard. I will supervise any outside time. I will make sure the leash and collar are secured before going on a walk. I don’t put my face in their face, and allow them to take the lead on contact and interaction. I know I’m a stranger to them at the beginning, and know trust needs to be built!

About: I’ve spent most of my life caring for dogs and have personally trained five dogs with different personalities, needs, and learning styles. Over the years, dogs have been much more than pets to me, they have been members of my family. That experience has given me a deep appreciation for how differently every dog communicates, learns, plays, relaxes, and builds trust. I’m especially passionate about canine behavior and body language. I pay close attention to the small signals dogs use to communicate how they’re feeling, whether they are excited, nervous, overstimulated, curious, playful, or simply in need of some quiet time. I have a comfortable home with a fully fenced yard where dogs have room to play, explore, enjoy supervised outdoor time, or simply relax. I take a calm, patient, and structured approach to caring for dogs. I believe dogs thrive with a healthy balance of affection, freedom, exercise, positive reinforcement, and clear rules and boundaries. Structure should help a dog feel secure and understand what is expected of them without taking away their opportunity to be a dog. Understanding canine behavior and body language is especially important to me. I pay attention to the smaller signals dogs use to communicate whether they are excited, uncertain, overstimulated, uncomfortable, ready to play, or simply in need of some quiet time. Every dog has its own personality, history, routine, and comfort level, and I believe good care starts with respecting those differences. Charlie Girl is a happy, social dog who genuinely enjoys connecting and playing with other dogs. Even so, I never assume that two dogs will immediately be comfortable together. Introductions and interactions are handled thoughtfully and supervised, with each dog's behavior and comfort level determining how quickly they progress. I also make it a priority to follow the routines and expectations established by each dog's family, including feeding schedules, sleeping arrangements, walking routines, training cues, boundaries, and other care instructions. Consistency can make being away from home much easier for a dog. Most importantly, I take the responsibility of caring for someone else's dog seriously. These animals are members of their families, just as the dogs throughout my life have been members of mine.
