“Rachel is amazing!!!! She took care of my 2 cats and puppy. Not only did she show them lots of love and attention but continued to reinforce the training schedule with my puppy which can be a lot of work! I also appreciate how she treated my home as she would her own! I would highly recommend her!!!”

About: I have a BS in Animal Science and have 2 years direct experience working with animals. I’ve volunteered at my local animal shelter, as well as received Volunteer of the Year award during that time. I've walked dogs, changed cats litter, fed rabbits, and made sure all animals in the shelter had fresh food and water, as well as clean spaces. I’ve always had a caring heart for animals, and am looking forward to taking care of you and your beloved pets! Tambien hablo español! My regular full time job is an accountant. M/F I am free in the evenings, and weekends I am available as well. Having a consistent work schedule for my regular job gives me more flexibility to do what I want in my free time. I adopted a bird a few years ago and have loved taking care of her. She is a cockatiel, and takes certain weekly/monthly maintenance requirements, which shows I'm careful in what I do. Myself being also a fit athletic person makes me a good fit for all size dogs and cats, which I have experience working with at my local animal shelter.
“We have never left our pets for this long before so we were a bit nervous beforehand. Everything went great! We returned home to happy, well cared for pets. Thank you!!!!!”

“Elva was a great house/pet sitter for us! This is the first time we have ever needed one for our 12 year old dog and we couldn't be happier with the service she provided. I appreciated that she was willing to come before we left to meet us and learn our dog's current routines. I came back home to the house still being clean and a happy dog. I will definitely reach out to Elva again for any upcoming trips!”

About: I worked at a vet clinic for over a year and worked with a dog trainer afterwards as an assistant trainer. I have 2 German Shepherds and a French Bulldog of my own that I trained myself. I love all animals and want to continue working with and care for them. I love hikes, and long walks. If allowed, I would prefer take your pup for a stroll up in our beautiful mountains to give them extra enrichment. I am currently unemployed, waiting to go back to school full-time in January. My schedule is almost always open, and I never cancel unless for emergencies. I have trained several dogs and am familiar with temperament. I love taking long walks or hikes up in the mountains. I have a very sweet puppy that loves everyone if you would like your furbaby to have some company. I have housesitted for several neighbors growing up and am familiar with the typical process. Your pets and/or house is in good hands.
About: Hello, my name is Reed. I’m a 25-year-old student and former Kennel Technician with hands-on experience in dog sitting, daycare, and boarding on my off days. Over the past year, I’ve also worked professionally leading off-leash group hikes using e-collars, managing 15–17 dogs at a time on dog-friendly trails and parks. This role has given me advanced skills in safe pack management, recall training, and e-collar handling. When your pup is with me, you can count on structured exercise, socialization, and fun adventures at dog parks and on dog-friendly trails. I’ll also make sure you receive high-quality photos of your pet so you can see them enjoying their day. I’ve been formally trained on dog behavior and care through PackPro and the Dog Handler Academy, and I continue to build on that knowledge every day. Feel free to reach out and book a date—I’d love to give your dog the care, attention, and adventure they deserve. I work at the pet resort Sunday-Tuesday and Thursdays. If needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays I can do a late overnight stay for a discount. In the house, I can board a family and give medicine oral or injections. I go to dog parks often, and usually take them outside every hour to an hour and a half. The only requirement is having a dog that is friendly so my dog stays safe as well.
“Wonderful experience with Candace! She took great care of my pup and my home for several weeks while I was traveling. She was very communicative, respectful, and went above and beyond her responsibilities. She carefully watered the house plants and even refilled the hummingbird feeder! Candace’s attention to detail is unmatched, and I look forward to working with her again in the future. Highly recommend.”

About: Grew up with dogs and have many years of hands-on experience caring for them in everyday life, including feeding, walking, basic training, and understanding different breeds, temperaments, and energy levels. I’m confident handling both calm and active dogs and adjusting to their individual needs. I now also own two cats, which has given me additional experience with feline behavior, routines, and creating a safe, stress-free environment. I’m comfortable caring for both dogs and cats and treat every animal with patience, responsibility, and genuine care. My schedule is very flexible, and I’m available for pet care throughout the day, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and on short notice when needed. I can’t take pets into my own home because I have two cats, but I’m very happy to stay at the client’s home and provide care there. I make sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and keep their normal routine while you’re away.
About: I have always been the go-to friend, when it comes to taking care of their pets while they are away. Over the years I have had experienced all sorts of dogs and cats, and have given them all the care and love as I do my own pets. ❤️ I’m a full time hairstylist who’s just wanting some animal interaction away from the salon. I have Mondays available from 11-3 to snuggle, walk and play with your fur babies. If I am making a home visit, I will spend 40-60 minutes with your beloved pet. Making sure water is topped off, and feed if need, while giving your pet undivided attention in your absence. If I am dog walking, my dog and I will stop in and take your dog for a fun jaunt and play in the park. (40-60 min). (If my dog doesn’t get along with your dog, we can make it just me.)
“Kasey was so wonderful with our pups! She was communicative, sent periodic photos, and clearly watched over them with lots of love! She went above and beyond and offered to stay late when our flight was delayed. We will absolutely rebook with her!”

“Our usual dog sitter had to cancel on us last minute, so we were in a bind trying to find someone else to care for our sweet, special needs dog with less than a weeks notice. Big ask, especially last minute. Brandi was so quick to respond, happy to take on the job, and asked really good questions to ensure our doggo was well taken care of while we were gone. She sent pictures throughout our trip and made sure he had his medications at the times he needed them, and even took him to get a pup cup. She not only took great care of our dog, but our house as well. We came back to the house as we left it. She was kind, reliable, and we absolutely loved working with her. We will definitely be reaching out to her again.”

“This is the second time that Heather has watched Leo. She is fantastic. When I come home I notice little things that she did but was not asked of her. For example, she cleaned and filled up Leo’s water bowl that was outside. She folded up the hose that was a mess outside. Cleaned the floors. Little things like this are appreciated but not expected.”

“I am a new tender hearted dog owner who was so nervous to leave my pup. Nichole put me at ease and took wonderful care of Red. Daily updates and pics were great and kept me from worrying. She took great care of my house too. I will be asking Nichole again anytime I need a dog sitter!”

“I can’t even begin to tell you how great Kirk is. Part of me doesn’t want to, because he’ll get busier than he is even now. The care he gave our pets was more than I could expect. They love him. If you’re like me, coming home is one of the best parts of any vacation. We came home to a cleaner home than we left. Not only did he change his own sheets and towels and launder them. He performed other tasks that needed to be done. We’re getting older, and some tasks are harder for us than before. Kirk took care of them.”
“We had a wonderful experience with our dog sitter! She stayed in our home the entire time with our dogs and took excellent care of them. She was incredibly respectful of our space, kept the house very clean, and followed everything we asked. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our dogs were well cared for while we were away. We would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and responsible sitter.”

“Jai was a great pet and house sitter. He provided pictures and updates every day. I loved hearing about his and Ivy's day. I would recommend him and plan to use him in the future!”

“Caroline was great!! She took excellent care of my dogs! This was my first time with the house sitting service and I’m so glad it was with Caroline! She was great to communicate and send pics and my pups had a great time with her!!”

About: Ive taken care of pets since I was 7. My first pet was a salamander named "Ziggy." My next pet was a cat named "Jenny" who lived until she was 22-years old! Currently I have a blue heeler named "Sugar" who I absolutely Love! Sugar likes treats and needs as much exercise as possible. I throw the ball for her and I take her on a walk every day around 8:00 PM when it cools down. I talk to pets. My voice seems to soothe them if they are nervous about a new person visiting. More importantly, I make sure your pets are safe before I leave. I know what it is like to leave your Fur babies and want to ensure you can relax knowing they are in good hands.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 1,317 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Croydon. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Croydon walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Croydon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Croydon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
