About: I have owned dogs and cats my whole life. At one point we had 4 dogs in the house! I am a dog-lover above all, but I also LOVE cats and understand them and their boundaries. I look forward to making new furry friends :) I currently work part-time on Saturdays and am a grad student during the Fall and Spring. Pet care is an AWESOME addition to my open schedule! I have overnight “cat-sat” on and off for the last two years. I do not leave any messes and am respectful of others’ spaces. I keep to myself and read books or do homework online when I stay the night somewhere—as well as hanging with critters!! I am professional and respectful about the work I do🩷
“Emily house-sit our dog Amber for 4 days. I cannot recommend her enough and cannot wait to work with her again. First of all, she was able to stop by earlier in the day than I initially set the sitting for, and let Amber out midday and come back later to start the actual sitting. I hugely appreciated this since I made a mistake in the reservation start time. She was great with photo and text updates. From all the photos I could tell how happy Amber was. Her food and medication schedule was kept the same and she had lots of fun with Emily. And I have to say that the house was left immaculate. She went the extra mile to unload the dishwasher that I accidentally left in full, and took out all the trash. None of which were her responsibility but she truly went above and beyond and we appreciated all of it. We cannot wait to have her take care of Amber agan.”

“Briona was excellent with my two cats and dog, making sure they were comfortable and loved. She also took great care of my place while I was gone. It’s nice to know I have someone I can trust while I’m away and I finally get to enjoy some holiday time.”

About: I grew up with a standard poodle and multiple cats and have fostered a total of 13 cats (Austin Pets Alive). I have cat, dog, and house sitting experience. I have experience working with animals of all ages. I have experience working with incontinent dogs. I have experience working with cats who are on oral medications. I have experience working with animals wearing a cone/donut I am self employed and work part-time at a coffee shop Tuesday through Friday which allows me to be extremely flexible and available for assistance! I treat every animal as if they were my own! Consistency is important (routine, feeding times, exercise, etc). I follow my intuition and listen to what an animal is trying to tell me based on their behavior and/or body language
“Michelle stayed at our house for two nights to watch our dogs and was absolutely fantastic. She kept us up-to-date with pictures and videos and followed our instructions perfectly. Would recommend Michelle to anyone!”

“Nikkii was absolutely great. She sent pictures and kept me posted on how they were doing daily. My 2 crazy fur babies loved her and can't wait to see her again! Thank you for taking such great care of them”

“We are first-time Rover users and had a great experience with Brooke. Brooke stayed at our home with our dog and our cat for 5 nights. Upon meeting her, she was kind and professional and demonstrated her knowledge of animal care and ease being in new situations. She left our house tidy and took care of normal house stuff during her stay. We are so grateful to Brooke and would highly recommend her and plan to use her in the future. Thanks so much Brooke that we could be on our trip and have the peace of mind that you offered in staying with our animals!”

“Taliah did a wonderful job watching over our two cats and our house while we were away on vacation. She sent us sweet daily updates and when we arrived home our house was spotless, and more importantly our cats were very happy.”

“I came home to a happy healthy pup and my house was just the way I left it. Jenna sent pictures and updates and we were able to communicate with ease. She has the most wonderful personality. My dog is fun but she is also an attention seeker. Jenna handles her with grace.”

About: Pets are my life, and I give them my full care and attention when in their presence. In previous experiences, I have cleaned litter boxes, administered medications, taken long walks (I'm an avid runner and can even take your dog for a run if they like it!), fed both wet and dry food, and dealt with anxious pets. I am a fairly free agent during breaks from college and can schedule my day around when your pet needs a walk or food! I can come as early as 7am and as late as 9pm! I am very respectful when it comes to coming over and caring for your pets. If you give me clear instructions where food and leash and/or medicine is I will do my duties, hang out with your pet for a while (and send you a cute pic), and leave everything else the way it was. I do not offer to have pets stay at my house.
“Shannon watched our two huskies and stayed in our home while we were away for a weekend. She took excellent care of our home, collected our mail, and took the best care of our Doggos. She sent several picture updates of our dogs which helped immensely. We will definitely use her in the future and highly recommend her to others!”

“Kat was an absolutely awesome dog sitter. My husband and I were looking for someone to stay in our home last minute and care for our dogs and Kat was immediately responsive and proactive. She was timely, followed instructions, provided updates throughout the day and the dogs were very well cared for. I would highly recommend Kat as a dog walker or dog sitter. We hope to work with her again!”

“Both my dogs love Ethan. My little female dog is weary of strangers. Not Ethan. She goes right to and paws at him for his attention. I've never had a previous pet sitter that she trust. Animals sense a good person. Also, Ethan was terrific handling our large male Siberian Husky who is a very bratty, stubborn and at times difficult. Ethan knew exactly how to handle him. I highly recommend Ethan. He is now our permanent pet sitter.”

I will provide updates as needed. My mission is to make your pup and you happy.
“Chris took very good care of our dog, Millie! He was very communicative at the end of every day letting us know how our dogs day was, along with pictures. I also appreciated while staying at our house it looked the same way when we left it. (No mess). We will definitely use Chris again for future dog/house sitting!”

“Adam did great house sitting for me and hanging out with Sammy while I was away. Sammy seemed to be happy I was home, but not stressed out which is always the goal with getting a sitter :) Adam even pulled a couple packages in the house for me that were delivered while I was away. If I need another sitter, I will definitely reach out to Adam!”

3rd time using Ethan. This time for 7days, six nights in my house. Ethan was awesome with both dogs. Huskies can be bratty and difficult. Ethan had absolutely no issues handling him. Both dogs love Ethan. And Ethan did an awesome job taking care of the house. I highly recommend him.

Wow, Tasha is the absolute best! So thoughtful, responsible, and communicative in sitting Murph and our house. She sent us regular updates including the cutest pics and videos, left the house in better shape than when she arrived, and gave Murph all the attention and care an energetic puppy needs. He was sad to see her go at the end of the weekend but you can bet we’ll ask her back for next time.

This was the first time using a pet sitter. My dog had such a good weekend she did not seem all that glad to see me when I got home. The house was just as I left it. I felt comfortable going in having communicated with Jade beforehand and appreciated updates over the time I was gone. Hope to have Jade again in the future

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cromwell walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cromwell maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cromwell choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
