About: I have my own dog that I’ve been training since he was a puppy. I have experience potty training, giving oral medication and more. I grew up with dogs and have been pet sitting for friends and neighbors since I was in middle school. I have experience with large and small dogs as well as young and older dogs. I just graduated with a bachelors in biochemistry & Nutrition and Exercise at Virginia Tech. I’m now home living with my parents and have a very flexible schedule! I currently live in a house, there’s plenty of open grass, walking areas and even a fenced in back yard for any dog to run around in! I’m happy to assist you with your dog care needs in your own home as I know that’s where they’re often most comfortable!
“Rhiana was amazing! She accepted my request at the last minute, communicated effectively, and even got my shy cat to come out and play on the first ever visit. She has the gift!”

About: I have taken care of dogs and cats and rabbits for years. I also have experience as a pet owner to a cat and grew up with dogs and cats and various rabbits and farm animals my entire life. My goal is to ease your pets anxiety when their person is not there! I will work to make sure your pet has what they need and the love they deserve! I work 3 days a week but am off by 5:00 and am super flexible. I am free on weekends and am happy to stay with the animals when I’m not at work! I also have the flexibility to leave during lunch during my work hours. I am very in tune with your pets needs and will make sure they always have fresh water and food at correct times. I’m happy to send as many updates as you need, and as many pictures! I am very flexible of what is required for you and your animals needs! I love to walk around the neighborhood and get them exercise as well as spending time in their safe environment. I’m happy to play fetch or sit with them and just give cuddles.
“Abigail is an excellent pet sitter and I strongly recommend her. I felt very comfortable with Abigail coming into my home to care for my cat. She is a kind hearted and caring person who genuinely loves pets!”

“Danielle was incredibly caring for our three cats! I did not worry a single time we were gone, as I knew she was caring for them as her own. Danielle took the time to acknowledge, pet, and play with our cats during each drop in visit. Her notes and messages were very thorough and personal, and she sent lots of photos, all of which we deeply appreciated! I would definitely recommend Danielle to watch your animals, and we will absolutely use her services again!!”

About: Hello everyone! My name is Paige and I am currently a student at UVA and part of the Virginia Polo Club where I help take care of our ponies and play polo! At home, I help care for a Pitbull Mix and a large Australian Shepherd, both weighing around 75 lbs. I am confident in my ability to understand their body language and handle them effectively. Growing up with dogs, barn cats, and horses has equipped me with a diverse skill set when it comes to animal care! I have experience administering medicine, cleaning up accidents, managing reactive dogs, and caring for animals of all ages. For years, I have been doing drop-in visits and overnight stays caring for dogs, cats, and even goats! I’m organized, reliable, responsible, and adaptable to your pet’s specific needs. For the Fall 2026 semester, I am consistently busy Tuesdays and Thursdays midday and for a few hours in the evenings, but am available in the mornings and every other day of the week. If you have any concerns, questions, or clarifications, please feel free to reach out -- I’m dedicated to ensuring the best care for you and your pet(s)! I’m currently a student at UVA but have a flexible schedule during the week and would love to help take care of your animals! I can do overnight stays every day of the week. Unfortunately, I can’t board any pets where I’m living but am more than happy to come to you! Back at home we have 2 medium-large dogs that weigh in at around 75 lbs that I can walk, crate, and otherwise manage. I’m able to notice changes in body language and what they mean. I also have experience feeding and giving medication to livestock and am comfortable dealing with larger animals.
“For our first time using Rover, Aiden was amazing! Great communication, sent pictures and notes on the visits. This was a great first time and we appreciate all the time and effort put in. Thank you!”

About: I have lived with and taken care of two dogs since I was 7, and my friends, family, and neighbors have used me to pet sit since I could drive at 16. I am a law student at UVA, and I would love to spend time with your fur babies while you are busy! As a law student, I have lots of breaks throughout the day in between classes. I also never have class in the evenings, or on Wednesdays or Fridays. With reading as my daily homework, I can move my schedule around to accommodate pet visits throughout the week, and am happy to do homework while spending time with the animals. In my home, I feed my dogs and cat, take the dogs on walks, and use cat and dog toys to play! I ensure that the walks are only during safe temperatures, and I am well-practiced in administering medications for pets as my oldest dog is 13 years old. I am also a neat freak, so there would never be anything out of place whenever my clients come home. My motto is to leave spaces better than I found them!
“Karlee was awesome! She left the most detailed notes and photos that I've ever seen from a sitter, and she was incredibly personable and warm. Definitely glad we found her to care for our kitties and wouldn't hesitate to book her again.”

“Kelsie was marvelous and our cat loved spending time with her. We appreciated her flexibility when our plans kept changing and that she came for a previsit. She also took the time to ask us about his veterinarian in case of emergency. Will call on Kelsie again!”

“So happy I rebooked Caroline to care for my cats when I was gone. She was so sweet and kind to them and treated them like her own. I know I never have to worry if she is looking after them. Extremely grateful for her”

“Mitch did a great job with our cat! He sent regular photos and updates, which we really appreciated, and we came home to a very happy kitty. We've already booked him for future visits!”

“Ed is a very nice person who took extremely good care of my little son. My first time leaving him alone but Ed followed all instructions and sent me great pics! Would use his services again.”

“Emil is super flexible and always willing to help! He’s easy going and took my pup and kindly watched her for my first week of work. It was hard to leave her, so I appreciated all his help!”

“My dog had such a great time with Bertie while I was on vacation, she probably didn’t even notice I was gone. Seeing the pictures of their day together made me happy and I will rebook in the future!”

“Megan has been amazing. My cats connected with her very well. Even my older cat who is standoffish with strangers sat on her lap. She came to my rescue when I needed her for another day and I appreciate her so much!”

“Sabal absolutely LOVES Maggie!! Maggie is always able to tire her out even though she is high energy, and is so caring and thoughtful. She is also a great communicator, and I always feel at ease when Sabal is in her care.”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Commonwealth
First time using Rhiana's services for my two cats and I am impressed! She suggested a meet and greet ahead of the stay before I could do so, and asked great questions. She promptly acknowledged instructions I sent her through Rover and gave me a report and lots of photos every day. Very professional, pleasant and detail oriented which I do much appreciate!

Sarah was very conscientious and took good care of my cats. They were calm and happy when I returned home, and the house was clean and neat. She sent photos and helpful notes every day. I'd recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a reliable and responsible person to take care of their kitties!

Samantha takes excellent care of our animals. She took the time to stop by before the visit, learn all of the idiosyncrasies of our furry companions, and she is very personable. We feel very comfortable trusting our animals with her and already plan to use her again.

We cannot speak highly enough of Danielle. Our cat is the center of our world, and reading her visit updates are the highlight of our day when away. Danielle includes some absolutely gorgeous photos each time, with a blurb highlighting the funny and adorable antics our little boy gets up to each day.

Kelsie developed a great relationship with our cat and helped him feel safe and loved while we were away for longer than we’ve ever been. We always looked forward to our pictures and report card. She’s a great communicator and even kindly brought in packages, which is never expected but always greatly appreciated!

Bryn was absolutely amazing! She took such good care of my cats, which is not the easiest task since one needs medications. It was a last minute ask and she was available, and jumped in with no hesitation. I honestly am glad that my other sitter canceled because I got to have the best care from Bryn! My only concern is that my cats will miss her to much.

Yana consistently does a wonderful job with our two shy kitties! She always spends plenty of time with them and gets them to warm up to her, is great with communication and sending photos, and keeps their food and litter areas neat and tidy. We have peace of mind knowing they are in caring and competent hands while we are away!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
