About: I have had many dogs over the years, all adopted. Have fostered dogs too. Your pet will have access to several dog beds. My cairn and I would love to watch your dog with you are away. I am recently retired so am home most of the time. So your pet will get care and attention all day long that includes one daily walk. Additional walks available for a fee. I have a stockade fenced in back yard. I go outside several times during the day to hang on my deck and let my dog explore and play.
“Catherine was a caring, well informed and all around wonderful dog sitter. If there was a concern, she let me know. Truly she is someone we trust with our pup, and we are sad that we have to move away before using her services again. She goes above and beyond.”

“Alex was very mindful and considerate with twice faily check-ins accompanied by photos. He also checked the litterbox regularly. He even played laser with the cat which was great!”

“Drew went to my home daily for almost 2 weeks and took exceptional care of my 4 dogs. He left very good notes and did everything asked of him. I would definitely use Drew again to care for my dogs.”

“Aliyah was fantastic! She replaced a last minute cancellation and was so on top of everything clear and smooth. We were gone for our wedding weekend, and I was able to have 0 worried for my kitty cat while we’re gone knowing she was in Aliyah’s care <3”

“I cannot Believe how awesome Jason has been. Very happy I found him to take care of my dog and go to my apartment to check on him!! Absolutely worth more than 5 stars”

About: I have had such a love for dogs ever since I can remember!! My family grew up with Labrador Retrievers - our two dogs were polar opposite: one was absolutely wild, while the other was super calm and sweet, so I've dealt with a range of different behaviors! Over the years, family friends and neighbors have asked me to dog sit their dogs, with ages ranging from puppies to senior dogs. My schedule is very flexible, as I am home most of the time! I have plenty of flexibility and availability for walks, drop-ins and pet sitting! Whether you need care for the mornings, afternoons, or evenings, I should be free to help :) I care for every pet as if they were my own! I know how important routines are to our dogs, so I like to keep their normal routine as closely as possible to ensure ease, which includes meal times, walks, and play time! I will of course follow any specific instructions or preferences you have for your pet as well. In our spaces, I am respectful and focus on making sure your pet feels comfortable, happy, and cared for. I love taking photos, so you can expect lots of updates on my end to see how your pet is doing!
“Maya is awesome! We needed a sitter in a pinch and she made an effort to fit in a meet and greet right away. She followed directions perfectly with our cat and was super responsive and easy to communicate with! Will def book again. Thanks, Maya!”

“Thank you Rebecca for another great sit with Winnie! Winnie is very finicky with her food and Rebecca made sure to spend extra time helping Winnie eat and let us know what her eating patterns were.”

About: I’ve loved dogs since I was a kid, and as soon as I was able to, started walking dogs in my neighborhood in middle school. My family ended up owning 4 dogs at one point and I’ve been one of their primary caregivers for the past 10 years! Between jobs at the moment, so I’m available any night for dog-sitting. I’m also able to pop in to walk dogs throughout the day, as my days are mostly free. I can prepare food, get fresh water, give medications, brush teeth if needed. Happy to follow any particular instructions needed for your pet to keep them happy, calm, and healthy!
“Had a great experience with Jessica! She took such good care of Truffle during the drop-in visits, kept the litter clean, and made sure food and water were always taken care of. Super reliable and caring — it gave us so much peace of mind while we were away 😊”

About: Growing up, my house was full in the best way possible. Every pet was treated like family, and I learned early on that each animal has its own personality, needs, and way of showing affection. I’ve helped care for dogs, cats, hamsters, chinchillas, snakes, guinea pigs, fish, and more. That range means I’m comfortable with more than the usual routine. I pay close attention to body language and habits, and I can keep you updated with photos and notes. I’ll treat your pet the way I’d want my own pets to be treated! I’m working full-time from 10am-7pm, but I’m flexible outside of those hours. I’m also a graduate student, so I know how to use my time wisely. I like to stay busy. I have a secure house and I’m very respectful when entering someone else’s home. I’ll leave everything as-is and perform tasks with ease and composure.
About: I started caring for pets in college (~2015), I am a 3rd Medical student at PSCOM. I am currently completing a research year at the NIH. Pet care is a great way to raise funds for my education, while doing something I love! I grew up with dogs: chihuahuas, german shepherds, saint bernards, and pitbulls. I have cared for small-to-extra large dogs. Loved each experience! I love to run/walk near-by trails and hikes. If you are comfortable with me taking your pets, I would gladly do so! I always send photo updates. I have two Jack Russel mixes of my own! They had to stay in Pennsylvania with my family, so taking care of your fur-babies will help me feel connected to them. If you want me to house sit, I will be studying most of the time and would appreciate a well-lighted desk and/or kitchen table! Happy to answer any questions. I am an early morning riser, and can fit in a 1-2 mile walk/run (whatever you & your pet are comfortable with) before starting my day at 9am. If the location is near my area, lunch visits to your pets are possible. Afternoon care could start as early as 5pm. I will model my gym & studying routine around whatever routine you & your pet are used to. When we are home our two boys stay inside, they love head pats and jump up for hugs/cuddles. In the summer time we have a fenced backyard patio where they stay during the day. In the winter time, we set up an enclosed area in our basement so they stay warm while we’re at work/school. They are small bodied but take up our queen sized bed!

Yuxi is the most wonderful pet sitter. She took such good care of my cat while I was gone, sending frequent updates with photos and videos. It is obvious she loves animals and they love her back. I was able to thoroughly enjoy my trip and relax knowing that my cat was in such good hands. Thank you again Yuxi!

Sharon is absolutely wonderful and my cats love her. She is very attentive to their needs and makes sure they have plenty of food and water and takes care of their litter boxes. She is also an excellent communicator and takes super cute pictures. I highly recommend Sharon.

Highly recommend! Quantairra was flexible with my last-minute booking and provided updates after each visit. My scaredy cat, who normally hides under my bed whenever new people come over, actually came out on the first day, let Quantairra pet her and engaged in some playtime. Honestly, that alone deserves 5 stars!!

This was our second time having Edgar look after our cats, and he did a great job again! He sent fantastic photos and videos each day, which we loved getting while we were away. It was reassuring to know our cats were in good hands. We’d happily book him again!

Karen was excellent! Highly recommend. She dropped in to care for my dog during the workday over the course of two weeks while my husband was away on a trip. My dog adored Karen. She was very responsive and took excellent care of him. I would definitely rebook with Karen.

Becca is great! She’s taking care of my foster kitties twice now and is so good with them. I always get detailed reports so I don’t have to worry about them! She also went above and beyond, even coordinating with the rescue so that they could be in the loop with their care.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
