About: Animals have always been an important part of my life. Growing up, I lived with two tuxedo cats who completely stole my heart. As I got older, I took on many of their daily care responsibilities, including feeding them, cleaning their litter boxes, playing with them, and making sure they felt loved and comfortable. Today, my wife and I are proud pet parents to two black cats. In addition to caring for cats, I have experience watching a toy poodle puppy under one year old. My responsibilities have included taking her outside for regular bathroom breaks, supervising walks, engaging her in play and exercise, teaching basic tricks and commands, reinforcing good behavior, and helping her work through separation anxiety. Caring for a young puppy taught me the importance of consistency, positive reinforcement, patience, and attentiveness to a pet's individual needs. Whether caring for cats or dogs, I am committed to providing a safe, loving, and reliable environment where pets feel comfortable, happy, and well cared for. I understand that every animal has a unique personality, and I strive to give each pet the same level of attention and affection that I would want for my own. i work part time in the mornings and am available most days after 1pm. I am a doctoral student at Stony Brook University, so I am flexible to watch your pup or kitty any time in the afternoons/evenings. If needed, I can do an early morning stop by at 6:30AM prior to heading to work. in my clients home, I will be respectful of property, taking off shoes before entering the house, cleaning up any messes that the animal/myself may create, ensuring the animal has food, water, litter box, toys, etc. accessible, and to lock up the house, windows, and any gates prior to leaving the home. I will always accommodate the clients requests. In my home, I have multiple floors to separate my animals from the animal(s) coming into my home. I also have a fully fenced in, large backyard for a dog to run around in. We have a home security system as well to ensure safety.
“Kerry is amazing at taking care of Honey. Since our dog is on the older side now, she’s less active and Kerry will walk her and then sit with her a while just giving her love. She responds to messages within a few minutes, and goes above and beyond. I highly recommend her for your fur babies!”

I am attentive, reliable, and passionate about keeping dogs happy and active. Whether your pup needs a fun walk, extra care, or a little extra energy burned off, I’m here to help! As a Petco employee and college student on summer break, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to care for your pet throughout the week. I currently walk two dogs on a weekly basis and would love to add time with yours to my schedule! I absolutely love dogs and make every walk a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience :) As the big sister to a loving Pit/Bulldog mix, I understand the importance of prioritizing a pup’s happiness and safety.
“Jordan has been so incredibly helpful for our family! We feel great knowing that our Maverick is getting exercise while we are at work and Maverick LOVES Jordan! Jordan currently walks our pup 2x/week for us. Highly recommend Jordan!”

About: I’ve always possessed a deep love for animals and have grown up around pets my entire life. I have several years of hands-on experience working at a grooming salon, where I assisted with bathing, feeding, and caring for dogs of all breeds and temperaments. I’ve also volunteered at local animal shelters, which helped me better understand dog behavior, body language, and each pet’s unique emotional needs. I’m patient, dependable, and committed to making every pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I would be honored to care for your furry family member like they’re my own! 🐾 I recently graduated and am taking a gap year, pursuing additional courses as an aspiring physician assistant and working part-time in healthcare. My schedule is very flexible throughout the week, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time, attention, and care to your pets. I’m generally available most weekdays and weekends, except Thursdays. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I always take the time to understand each dog’s routine, personality, and needs to help them feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I’m attentive to body language, feeding schedules, medications if needed, and making sure pets feel safe, loved, and stress-free in their own environment. I’m also happy to provide regular updates and photos for peace of mind.

“Emma has been brilliant with communication, flexibility with times and days for walking my dog, she has been a dream dog walker from start to finish. I would highly recommend her services as she really did give my dog the best afternoon out and the photos she took looked like he had a brilliant time! Thank you Emma.”

“Amanda is absolutely conscientious and dependable, but what REALLY shines is the calm demeanor and gentle nature that won over our old but still a bit rambunctious Mac immediately. Dogs always seem to know who to trust and he wasn't wrong. Sad to see her go, but we'll most definitely hire her again!”
“Madison is great! Great communication, followed all the steps needed to properly walk Enzo and went above and beyond to ensure my dog was taken care of. I would highly recommend Madison and would definitely use her services again in the future.”

About: I have been the pet sitter for all my friends and family for years , from 200pds English mastiff to 4pd Pomeranian. I have had 5 dogs at one time and it was a joy watching them play. I am currently babysitting 3 young girls for school teachers 6am to 730am. i am free after that. I some times help a friend of mine deliver food during his busy time. Just looking to fill my time with what I LOVE AND THATS ANIMALS. i HAVE A LARGE FENCED IN YARD AND 2 FURY BABIES OF MY OWN TO KEEP YOU PUPS ACTIVE. If need be crates can be used if needed. My baby sleeps with us in the bedroom one on the bed one in her bed on the floor.

About: While I’ve never owned a dog, I have worked as a dog sitter and walker since I was a kid, and I’ve been in and around dogs my whole life. I also have in-depth experience with other animals including rabbits, lizards, snakes, gerbils/mice, rats, fish, frogs, but especially cats. I volunteered at a cat shelter administering meds and working with the high needs and feral cats. I am a graduate student so I have a very flexible schedule outside of Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I can stay at any house within 30 minutes of stony Brook university for as long as you need. I like to get the basics out of the way first; walk, food, water, meds and other maintenance (litter-box, pet related cleaning ect). I love to send a cute photo of your pet(s) to you every day to ensure both your peace of mind and help build that library of cute photos! Even for “drop-in” sitting, I will spend most of my day working/relaxing in the home around them, intermittently playing with them or letting them outside (if relevant). I since I grew up around so many pets, I very naturally am always aware of what your pet is up to in and around me, often talking to them directly (as if they understand). Especially for drop ins, I try to simulate them having you still there/they have not been left home alone and overall want to make them feel less lonely. Of course I will adjust this as necessary regarding specific anxious attachment concerns! For dog walking, if you’re willing to let me drive your dog, I love taking walks in parks or along a beach! I would love to “double dip” and take care of any other pets you need taken care of, I have experience across the animal kingdom (rodents, reptiles, amphibians, fish!) or any minor tasks you need done like watering plants or bringing in mail/packages! Things like packages or feeding fish are fully included in my rate, but I might request a small fee increase ($5 max) depending on the magnitude. For example if “water the plants” involved 20 different exotic plants with specialty watering techniques or if feeding the fish also included changing their tank water. Overall my only concern regarding safety/trust and environment is that I am not comfortable with aggressive dogs. Even if they are only trying to intimidate me at first, I am overly cautious around aggressive dogs which impedes my ability to provide them the care they deserve. (This is mostly due to an experience as a child while taking care of my grandparents dachshund where another dog tried to attack her so I picked her up and the other dog ended up biting my arm).
About: Animal lover since the day I was born! I have a 5 year old cat named Lilly who is extremely friendly with other pets so I can bring pets to my house. I worked at New York’s Best Pets on Dyckman 200 Street before it burned down unfortunately and there I took care of feeding, grooming and playing with the pets as well as customer service. I’ve taken care of many dogs in the past, from walking to dog sitting. I have given prescribed medicine to dogs when they needed it and have trimmed their hair when asked to, as well as given them a full shower and a good groom. I live next to Raynor Beach Country Park and I love going out for walks and runs so you know your dogs will always have a good time and stay fit! I’ve been taking care of pets most of my life and I want to give pets the best experience they’ve ever had. I’m athletic so I have plenty of energy to burn. With me, I can guarantee your pets will have a great time and you’ll be satisfied with how they’ve been taken care of!
About: I’m a total animal lover with over 5 years of experience caring for dogs and cats—and I’ve got a full house myself with 4 pups and 4 kitties, so I truly get how much love (and personality!) our furry friends bring to our lives. I’m super flexible with scheduling and can check in on your pet as often as every 2 hours—or even more if needed! I’m also totally comfortable giving medications and handling any special needs your pet might have. I love keeping pet parents in the loop, so whether you prefer texts, photos, videos, or even a quick phone or video call, I’m happy to provide regular updates to give you peace of mind. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and totally loved while you’re away!
About: Ever since I was a little girl I have always been surrounded by extra love from my pets. I cannot imagine my life without any of my furbabies that I’ve had the honor of loving and caring for along the way. Both my dog, Champ and my cat, Shea currently have my heart. They are the absolute best of friends. I’m inseparable from my dog. He is an Akita-Husky mix who recently just celebrated his 12th birthday. When I’m not at work teaching, I’m usually bringing him on adventures. From strolls through Port Jefferson, to hiking upstate to road trips to Connecticut, he has definitely become quite the explorer. It is my hope to be able to meet your four-legged family member and to help put your mind at ease knowing your furbabies are safe and cared for :) I’m currently a teacher and off for the summer so I have plenty of time to care for your fur babies as much as you need :) Your trust is the most important thing to me. I will ensure you home is found exactly how you left it while also ensuring your pet is in the best hands possible! :)

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
