“From the moment we dropped Nessa off until the time we picked her up, we were pleasantly surprised by how completely at home she felt with Marla. Normally, Nessa is very apprehensive when meeting new people, new animals, or even visiting a new place. But from the moment Marla opened the door, our normally shy and hesitant little girl ran right into the house to greet Marla and all of her pets. To say my husband and I were shocked would be an understatement! Watching Nessa happily run off to play filled this mom and dad with so much joy. While we were attending our niece’s wedding, we kept checking our phones, fully expecting a call or text saying Nessa was crying or looking for us. That message never came—because she was apparently having the time of her life! When we returned to pick her up, Nessa was excited to show us all of her new friends. It was obvious she had been well cared for and truly enjoyed her stay. We could tell that Marla treated Nessa as if she were one of her own, and there is no greater compliment we could give. We only wish Marla lived in Connecticut instead of New York. Finding someone who genuinely loves and cares for your pet as though they were part of their own family is incredibly rare, and we would trust her with Nessa again in a heartbeat.”

About: I've always had a special connection with dogs. Ever since primary school, I volunteered to walk all my neighbors' dogs and would stay to play with them for hours—tug-of-war and frisbee were our favorites. I've walked dogs of all sizes, sometimes up to three at a time. Getting my own puppy was the best thing in the world for me, and I naturally have endless patience for animals. Throughout college, I walked and sat for my piano professor's dog for years—around the neighborhood, and I also drove him to dog parks and beaches. On top of that, I've volunteered at an animal shelter, cleaning dog and cat rooms and socializing with the animals. I currently can't have a dog of my own because I fly in and out for work. That's why I'm doing this part-time — it's never an assembly line for me. Each dog gets my full, individual attention, and I truly make friends with every one of them. I'm a sound designer and composer working on contract-based stage productions, which gives me a flexible schedule. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine — I walk dogs at least three times a day, feed them as many times as requested, and make sure they get plenty of playtime outside of my work hours. Since I'm not working a rigid 9-to-5, I can easily adjust my day around each dog's needs, whether that means extra cuddles, a longer walk, or a spontaneous trip to the dog park. Plus, because I fly in and out for work and can't have my own dog right now, caring for other people's dogs is something I genuinely look forward to and prioritize every single day. I live in a first-floor condo apartment in a neighborhood with lots of green areas — perfect for dogs who love quick potty breaks and longer sniffing walks. I let dogs free roam throughout my home and they're absolutely allowed on furniture. I treat every dog as if they were my own, which means lots of freedom, comfort, and attention. Since I do this part-time, I never have more than two unfamiliar dogs at once, so each dog gets a calm, focused environment. I'm extremely respectful of their space and routines — I follow all feeding, walking, and medication instructions to the letter, and I always leave things cleaner than I found them.

About: I am a professional dog walker and pet sitter with over twenty years of hands on experience caring for animals. I recently moved to Suffolk County, New York from the Upper West Side of Manhattan after closing my small business in the city. Long Island has been an amazing change for us and we truly love being here. Animals have always been a huge part of my life and have shaped my career for more than two decades. Now that I work from home, I find myself really missing the daily connection with pets. I am certified in pet grooming and have experience in animal behavior as well as light training. I love teaching dogs fun tricks like giving kisses and building trust with them through patience and consistency. My day revolves around your baby 🥰 • Your dog can be outside as often as they wish (and you allow), whether it’s sniffing in the yard, playing fetch or tug of war, or going on walks • Your dog will be able to go in/out of the house for potty breaks, playtime, or rest any time they like • I always supervise dogs in the backyard at all times, on top of having a full fence, so you never need to worry about your dog eating something unsafe, or pulling a “Houdini” if they have escape artist tendencies 😂 🐕 I have a large, fully-fenced yard filled with toys, interesting smells, and plenty of squirrel and bird watching! 🐕 If your dog enjoys walks or trips to the park, I live on a beautiful and safe low-traffic block and have several dog-friendly parks nearby that we can visit during your pup’s stay, with your permission. 🐕 My dog, Pearl, a 2-year-old mixed breed medium-sized girl, will be overjoyed to keep your pup company, share her many toys, and play play play! She is also happy (and trained) to give your dog space if that is the pup’s preference - I have enough space in my home that dogs can relax separately from one another if they prefer that. 🐕 No need to bring your dog’s bed, we have plenty! The couch is all theirs too! I can also gate off rooms and/or crate your dog at any time if that is what you or your dog needs or prefers. 🐕 A safe environment for your dog is maintained here at all times and is of the utmost importance‼️: —dogs are never left unsupervised —my home is free of choking hazards —play with toys & with other dogs is always carefully monitored —I do not keep any items in the home that are dangerous for a dog to ingest (xylitol, poisonous plants, etc.)

About: I’ve taken care of all kinds of dogs (and other animals!) for many years. Family, friends, and co-workers have relied on me to watch and care for their pets whether it’s walking, feeding, playing, even taking them to the vet. I’ve taken care of dogs of all sizes and ages, from senior bull mastiffs to pugs under a year old. There is no dog too big or too small because they’re all perfect to me. I’ve also found lost dogs and helped them return to their owners! I have experience caring for anxious dogs, blind dogs, deaf dogs, dogs with mobility issues, and dogs that require medication. Other animals I’ve taken care of include: cats, parrots, guinea pigs, fish, rabbits, and hamsters. Pets are so precious, they’re such an important source of joy in their family’s lives so it’s such a privilege to be trusted with their care!! :) Pet sitting is currently my full time job, so I have lots of time to give your animals the special care and attention they deserve! I have a fenced in yard which is perfect for dogs to run around in. I also have a car so I’m able to take dogs to the dog park or dog beaches nearby (if that’s something they would enjoy). At a client’s house I still follow any guidance/schedule given to me. In between I typically take the dog’s lead. I’m at their house so it’s important to me that I respect their space (and the clients above all)! I like to take their cues to make sure that their sense of routine isn’t disrupted.

About: I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, from puppies to senior dogs. I currently own four dogs: two adult Belgian Malinois, a German Shepherd puppy, and a senior Shih Tzu mix. I have crate trained and potty trained multiple puppies and am familiar with the time, patience, and consistency required for successful training. Through caring for both high-energy working breeds and senior dogs, I have experience managing different exercise needs, routines, temperaments, and levels of care. I am committed to providing a safe, structured, and positive environment for every dog in my care. I am home most of the time and provide full-time care for the dogs in my home. Because I am available throughout the day, dogs receive regular supervision. I have a securely fenced yard where dogs can safely go outside for potty breaks and exercise. I am comfortable reinforcing crate training when needed and believe crates are a valuable tool for safety and routine. My own dogs are crate trained and are crated when they cannot be directly supervised to ensure their safety and prevent unwanted behaviors. I provide a structured, safe, and supervised environment while making sure each dog receives plenty of attention, care, and opportunities to play and relax.
