“Worked out great -Shayla was flexible and easy going . Cody was tired and taken care of and I didn’t suffer any consequences as a result of him being away at another’s place. In other words -he felt right at home with Shayla. Thanks !”

“Marci made the whole process easy. She kept me informed about how Daisy Lou was doing and when a winter storm approached she changed the reservation saving me money.”

“Kathya takes great care of Niko, and I'm so grateful that I found her. She makes traveling for my new job so much easier by being so accommodating to last my two last minute requests.”

“Valerie was awesome. First time leaving any of my pets with anyone when I travel. I was afraid at first but after talking with her on the phone I knew I picked the right person and it felt like i knew her forever. She's that kind of perxpn. Loving and caring. Kept my baby for 5 days and during the 5 days she sent pics and informed me if his status. I will definitely use her again.”

“I can't thank Aldrin and Teresa enough for taking such excellent care of my baby, Alphy, on such short notice. I had to make a last-minute day trip to Dallas for a family emergency, and they made the entire process so easy and stress-free. I was a bit concerned that Alphy would be a handful since he’s such a high energy dog, but Aldrin and Teresa are incredibly kind, attentive, and accommodating, and Alphy had a blast playing and burning off all that energy! When I picked him up, he was happy, tired, and clearly well-loved. It’s evident that they truly care for the dogs they watch. I highly recommend Aldrin and Teresa to anyone looking for a reliable, loving place for their pet.”

“We left our golden retriever and pug with Jennifer for about a week and we're well taken care of. She sent photos of the dog's and any updates. She is very accommodating. Will definitely use her services again.”

“Karen was an awesome dog sitter. This was our pup’s first time with a sitter and Karen made sure she felt comfortable the whole time. Karen sent us daily updates and pictures which was super reassuring. Our pup seemed to really enjoy her stay. We will definitely be booking again!”

“Melinda is the best! She quickly gained my little Yorkie's trust and even sent a video of giving some belly rubs, which was a sure sign that our dog was very comfortable and getting lots of cuddles. Melinda was very quick to respond to all of our inquiries and sent lots of pictures during our 2-week vacation. I had no worries about my sweet baby while I was gone. We will definitely hope Melinda is available the next time we need a sitter. Highly recommend!!”

“I can tell that Axle had the most amazing time with this very sweet and special couple. They loved him like he was their own and I even felt like he was bored when I excitedly got him back home to our routine. He loved being there that much!”

“FIVE STARS AND MORE FOR TEENA!! She and her family took such excellent care of my Hadley. They treated her like their own and she had the best time!! She was so happy in every picture and it made leaving her so much easier. I won't call anyone else ever, there just isn't a better caregiver than Teena!!!”

“We selected Digna after receiving several offers for our request for services. She was the only one who offered a meetup beforehand and that immediately made us feel comfortable leaving our Felix with her. She kept in touch with us while we were gone providing many pictures as well. I could tell he was being well taken care of while we were gone. I would definitely use her services again without hesitation! Thank you so much!”

“Yvette is a very attentive sitter. We had a meet-n-greet before the day of service. The objective was to see how my dog responded to her and the environment. When I walked into her home, there were no offensive dog smells and her home was clean with kennels and a backyard large enough to give my dog space to run around. The day of service, Yvette, would have provided food but I elected to bring my dog’s food. She obviously knows how to work with finicky dogs because mine would not eat without something added to his food. Yvette, knew how to handle that situation and I appreciate her initiative. I will use her services again when the need arises.”

“Jamila was extremely superb in her ability to work with animals as well as care for them. We were absolutely blown away by the attention she gave our babies. Amber and Libby looked as though they were right at home. Jamila was sure to send us constant updates as well as beautiful pictures of our dogs while we were away. We will certainly, without a doubt ask her to sit our animals again great job Jamila.!! 😊”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in TX ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
