Maria was a great help and our two medium sized pit mixes sure loved the company, treats, and snuggles! She sent pictures each day, brought in our mail for us, left the house how she found it, and was always very communicative. Will definitely be asking Maria to watch our pups for future trips!

Lois was wonderful with our dogs and as a housesitter. It was clear to us in photos that Rosie got lots of exercise chasing balls and our older dog Lola was comfortable. We appreciated Lois visiting us for a meet and greet when we met her. She communicated with us with photos and videos often while we were away. Highly recommend.

This was my first time using Rover and I was in a real bind as a house-sitter I had set to help me had a family emergency 10 days before my trip. I then went on Rover and picked some possible matches. Lauryn was first to respond and was willing to help with my dog and three parrots. My dog loved her the first time they met. She did a great job and I plan to definitely use her house sitting services again.Your pets will be in good hands with Lauryn.

At the parents home, I do make sure that the pets are well fed and hydrated before leaving unless otherwise told. We had a great experience with Asia. My dogs love her and she took care of them well. She sent us multiple pictures and was respectful of the house. We had her stay two nights at our house and she took care of the house and dogs well for a reasonable price. We had to take off a night initially and she quickly responded and adjusted the dates. I would 100% book Asia again.

They were well looked after and entertained. He was responsive and sent us picture updates every day. Our house was left immaculate. He stayed committed through the snow and bad weather. Lisa did such a great job with with my newly adopted dog! She made sure to send lots of photos each day and check in with me multiple times just so that I would feel at ease. She also taught the dog how to walk on a leash! My dog did not want to walk on the leash as she had been a street dog in another country and had only been with me for a very short time before I had to leave town for work. I highly recommend Lisa and will be hiring her again!

About: I’ve been taking care of all different kinds of pets since I was about 10 years old. I’ve always lived in a home and had family that owned pets. I’m the person who ignores everyone at a function to play with the animal. I can play with a puppy for hours until they get tired or I can lay with a senior pet who just wants to be loved. I’m the person that my friends and family turn to when they need pet care and I’m always happy to help. I also work at a doggy daycare, so I have plenty of experience with dogs of all sizes and breeds. Whatever your pet needs, I can give to them! I’m a college student taking with a part-time job. I have a pretty open schedule even with work and school, and would have plenty of time to care for your pet(s)! I will be respectful to your home and follow any precautions/instructions put into place. I am willing to do whatever you need to ensure my care is something you’re comfortable with, as well as making sure your pet is as comfortable as possible.

Claire was a great dog sitter for our aging lab. Our dog started having some mobility problems a few days before we left on vacation and Claire was great at taking care of her. Very friendly, responsive, and responsible. We had her stay at our house for about 2 weeks and when we came back the dog was happy and well taken care of and the house was in great shape. Would highly recommend Claire to anyone needing a sitter!

We cannot thank you enough for taking such wonderful (24/7) care of our Jasper. I know this time there were a few hiccups, but you kept me in the loop the entire time. You also handled everything like a pro. Because you are. Jasper is becoming most comfortable around you, which makes me happy. I know he can be a sour patch kid or should I say, cat, but deep down he’s a very loving old man just with a grumpy face💙

Kara was a lifesaver. This was my first time ever using a service like Rover. I’ve never left my dog with anyone before never friendly felt comfortable, but this time I had to try Kara was a true blessing. She took her time with Braxton. My dog is really not as social and only really likes 2 people . Kara was patient and kind with him. It took him a while to warm up to her,but I think eventually overtime he will get used to her. I felt comfortable leaving her with Braxton and the videos and update she sent me eased my mind. I really appreciate all of her patience with Braxton and I’m sure the more o utilize her service, the better he’ll be. I highly recommend Kara. She was very comforting, calm, and patient.

Lois was phenomenal with our two fur babies! We had a last-minute cancellation that really put us in a tight spot, and she was super quick to help us out and accommodate our needs. As soon as we met her, we knew this would be a great fit for our husky and pitbull. She sent us many updates, photos and videos of the pups, and we could tell she really cared for them while we were gone. We will absolutely book her again and can’t thank her enough for helping us out!

Tara came through within a day when our petsitter had to cancel for medical reasons, two days before our travel. Very quickly she gave us confidence that she could take care of a big dog and two cats - and she did! We got regular updates and pictures showing happy, content pets and when my flight was delayed, she came back to walk the dog that night, without hesitation. To us, it's all about the pets and their care and safety, and without hesitation I would use Tara again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Carney

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Carney on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 3,184 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Carney. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carney walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carney maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carney choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Carney. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
