About: I’ve been a lifelong dog lover and have had the privilege of raising both rescue dogs and a purebred Golden Retriever over the years. Each one has shaped how I care for animals—with patience, understanding, and a lot of love. In our home, pets truly are family. Their happiness, comfort, and well-being are always a top priority, just as if they were children. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your dog, and I take that responsibility seriously. I’m known for being kind, conscientious, and reliable—not just with dogs, but with people too. I’ll always communicate clearly, show up when I say I will, and make sure you feel confident your pet is in good hands. I’m currently working part-time, which allows me to dedicate quality time and attention to the pets in my care. My approach is simple—I care for every pet as if they were my own. That means plenty of exercise tailored to your dog’s individual needs, along with a strong focus on mental stimulation through enrichment, play, and engagement—not just walks. In a client’s home, I respect your pet’s routine and environment, keeping things as consistent as possible to reduce stress. I make sure they receive plenty of attention, exercise, and mental stimulation, while also giving them the patience and calm presence they need to feel at ease. I care for every pet as if they were my own—prioritizing their comfort, happiness, and well-being at all times.
About: I grew up with cats and have cared for them practically my whole life. I had a dog, that I trained from a puppy, in my 20s, and have cared for many other people’s dogs as well (including senior dogs). I also had fish and a frog as a teenager and have some minimal experience caring for rabbits and hamsters too. My current cats are formerly feral, one of whom is extremely anxious and takes daily medication for her anxiety so I understand how to care for especially nervous and skittish kitties. I’m also familiar with the signs of UTIs in cats and can be on the look out for them if your cat is prone to them. I have been a pet sitter for friends and family my whole adult life and am excited to expand my services to others in the community. My schedule, except for very early mornings, is pretty flexible. I can be available after 9 or 10am (depending on distance from my home) until 9:00 pm almost any day of the week. Upon first meeting new animals it’s important to allow them to come to me first. I get on their level and allow them to approach me to help establish myself as a safe person. I try to be a calm presence, using slow and deliberate movements; for cats I slow blink at them, for dogs, I avoid direct eye contact. I extend a fist for both cats and dogs and they can decide if they’d like to be touched by me. From there I pay attention to body language and suggestions from you on where your pet prefers pets and scratches. Play and treats (if allowed) are also really helpful in building a trusting relationship. As for other care - feeding, meds and walks, I follow the instructions you provide.
“I am so grateful for Nerissa! Flexible with planning, prompt replies, genuinely caring and trustworthy. She cared for my dog on short, same day notice and sent thoughtful pictures and texts throughout her visit. I am genuinely so pleased and happy with the experience. Thank you Nerissa!!!!”

About: I've cared for dogs through dog-sitting and have lived with and become close to several cats. I have research and experience regarding cats & dogs - but I'm very respectful of owners’ beliefs and instructions. I have a pretty flexible schedule right now because I'm self-employed with another business as well. I'm generally available 7 days a week, depending on my other work and plans. I can care for pets in my home or at your home. My home is clean, safe and has room for pets to play and relax. I have lots of toys for dogs and cats, and depending on the pet, we can also spend time in the yard or go for walks.
“Cassandra has been absolutely wonderful to work with, and my pup sure looks forward to his daily walks with her! I am thankful we were able to find someone we trust with him and are excited to have someone we can rely on in a pinch.”

“Nicole is quick to respond, very reliable, and easy to communicate with. My dog loves her and Nicole gives detailed reviews on the time spent with him. I would highly recommend Nicole.”

“Kaily is awesome! She arrived 5 minutes early, poop bags for just in case and water for Sunny during their walk. Kaily also provided pics during the walk and a map so I knew exactly where they were. Excellent service and a job well done. Sunny came home happy and because his walk was scheduled in the evening, he was content for the remainder of the evening. I will definitely be re-booking Kaily on a weekly basis!”

About: Caring patient pet lover with life long history of living with and caring for dogs. Experience with cats as well. Have studied and worked in behavior therapy field in past (not offering as a service now, but am knowledgeable of techniques). Have a loving and playful boston terrier cross at home that loves company and snuggles. Slow, guided introductions are important for both myself and my pup- safety, security and fun is key! Crate training (or at least familiarity with ex-pen gating) is important for overnight stays as I may have to step out for short periods and dont feel comfortable leaving unbonded dogs alone together without supervision! I run a small business from my home and set my own works hours so I am extremely flexible. Open and honest communication is very important to me! Please note there are 3 dogs in our home- my pup plus 2. One is a tiny senior, one an energetic spaniel mix puppy I work for myself, from home so I have no predetermined schedule that requires me to leave the house - I can be very flexible We have 2 different fenced areas behind the house - one small with doggy door, the other full yard size. Plus we have unfenced acreage beyond that which our dogs are invisible fence trained on, is good for leashed exercise for untrained dogs

Harry really has taken to Sarah, and we will be seeing her again soon. Always happy to do extra walks, if needed and genuinely loves being around my dogs......She is so pleasant and very trustworthy. She even showed with one of Harry’s favourite treats – she recalled from last time, these special touches make all the difference! Wag Wag
My experience with Cassandra was wonderful! They arrived on time and clearly has experience and knowledge around working with animals. They were gentle and kind with piper, and send me pictures of their walk. I would absolutly reach out to them again when im needing a sitter or dog walker!

Lucie has been walking my dog a couple times per week when I go to the office. I am beyond pleased with how wonderful everything is going. Lucie is very responsible and punctual. She always sends pictures and updates after the walk which really appreciate. I know my dog is well taken care of while she is out with Lucie. I would highly recommend her for anyone needing dog walks or pet check ins.

Freya answered a last minute need when my two girls were sick with the flu, she responded promptly, helped me understand I needed to finish my profile and was very kind to my dog. I got unexpected pictures from Daisy’s walk and she had a great time! Will definitely be asking for help from her again 😊

My large dog, Percy has been having a hard time with other dogs lately. My two dogs and I met Alicia at the large dog park in the afternoon. I must admit I was a bit worried to turn Percy over to Alicia since he has been nervous lately. She was awesome. Immediately she took Percy's leash and helped me carry Poochie to the park. Poochie and I held back and Alicia took Percy off for a faster walk. She observed him and was able to lead him in directions that kept him calm. I was very happy that they both worked out quite well. Thank you Alicia for your help and experience. <3

Anthony is amazing! My pups enjoyed his company a lot. They're weary over new people sometimes, especially men but they instantly loved him. He followed my instructions clearly, took some beautiful pictures and he even took them for an extra long walk. I booked him on short notice and he accommodated no problem. I highly recommend Anthony! And will definitely hire him again.

Abrianna & Natalie are amazing! They have walked my elderly dog with health issues 4 times now. They were very kind and caring with him and even went over and above when he had an indoor accident. They were available upon request and even last minute. I loved that they sent pics too, made me smile and feel less guilty about being away. Highly recommend them!

Memphis did an amazing job walking Zeus! She was patient, attentive, and made sure Zeus got the exercise and attention he needed. I could tell Zeus felt comfortable and happy the whole time. It’s such a relief knowing he’ll be in good hands. Thank you, Memphis, for taking such great care of him, we’ll definitely book with you again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Winnipeg choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
