“hayley was wonderful. she immediately walked over to Gracie the moment she walked in the door to get to know her. she cared for Gracie perfectly including my wife's instructions on how many treats to feed Gracie each day. she kept the house tidy, and even put out the garbage on garbage day. she washed the sheets before she left. Gracie enjoyed each day with Hayley, and looked sad to see her go. don't worry Hayley, you will be catsitting Gracie before you know it. i would be happy to provide a reference to anyone who is thinking of hiring Hayley”

“Rp was excellent. The planning around my weekend away was extremely easy because they’re very communicative and responsive. They even planned for the potential that I was delayed on my return, making themselves available past the agreed on departure time in case it was needed. They provided daily updates with what the dogs got up to and how the days/nights were structured, and sent photos regularly.”

“This is our second time booking Princess for house sitting; this time for a longer stay with both our dog and cat. Our pets love her and immediately feel at ease around her. Princess is incredibly respectful and tidy. I will be booking her again in the future!”

About: I have always loved animals, and as an adult I have been pet sitting for friends and family in lieu of owning my own. I find that being able to help my friends care for their little family members to be so rewarding especially because I have the ability to get to bond with them. I find spending time with animals to be centering, and so they help me as well. I am available evenings and weekends! I work full time Monday to Friday, but would be available in the morning and evenings as well as weekends to care for your pets When it comes to pets, they deserve attention and play. It is clear their basic needs are met, but when their owners are gone I think it is important to show them love and fun.
About: I DO NOT OFFER BOARDING AS A SERVICE. I'm renting, my building is cats only and forbids tennants from boarding animals. I've had dogs all my life and cats since I was 14, though my true passion lies with reptiles and insects. I'm active and enthusiastic. I work part time with a varied schedule, I will be able to provide drop in visits before and after work as needed. All other days of the week I am free to take care of your pets and house. I will try to stick to your pets' walking and feeding schedule in your home as much as possible. I will scoop your litter boxes twice daily, morning and night.
“Came home to two well cared for and happy dogs. Billie is a good communicator and sent a picture daily to show how the pups were doing. She seemed to really enjoy them! I would book her again without hesitation she provided great peace of mind!”

“Kristin was so responsive to my pet care request and made arrangements immediately for a meet and greet. The transition to dog sitting was seamless. I came back to a healthy and happy dog and a clean house. Would highly recommend Kristin!”

“Anne did great with our 2 dogs and cat over the weekend. She got to deal with an episode of dog puke and a couple ticks but seemed to handle it well. Would gladly have her come pet sit again!”

“10/10 recommended!! Arissa made leaving our dog so smooth!! She took great care of him and kept me updated the whole time!! She loved him and all his corks!! Always scary leaving your pet but she did an awesome job!”

“This was my first time using Rover and I felt so fortunate to find Katharine! Her calm demeanour and knowledge about special needs dogs made her a perfect fit for my rescue dog, Parker, who can be slow to warm up to new people. Parker connected to Katharine right away and I was able to breathe a sigh of relief going on vacation and knowing Parker was in loving, trustworthy hands.”

“Victor was amazing - great communication, gave updates, really cared about the pups, and was a pleasure to deal with. Pretty sure the house was cleaner when he was done than how we left it. 10/10 will hire again. Thanks Victor!”
“I highly recommend Cael as a dog sitter! Cael took care of my dog, Phoebe, on short notice and went above and beyond. Cael stayed at my house, providing Phoebe with exceptional care. Cael sent regular updates and adorable pictures, which eased my mind while I was away. Cael also administered Phoebe's medication without any issues. It’s clear that Cael genuinely loves animals and knows how to keep them happy and healthy. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Thank you, Cael. I'm sure we will see you again soon!”

“This was our first time leaving the pups for so long with someone we didn't know. They seemed to really like her during the meet and greet and the photos we got made them look like they were perfectly at home! Winston specifically is a bit of a prince, and Jessa made sure he still felt like one!”

“I highly recommend Chloe and will be using her again. She has a very calm demeanour and my shiba instantly loved her. She was extremely kind and gentle with Pika. Chloe had no problem giving Pika her meds and tons of tummy scrubs. Highly reliable!”

“Ellen was an amazing pet sitter for our elderly pug. I booked her for my parents who went away on a two week trip and it brought them so much reassurance and peace to know he was in good hands. She was attentive and caring and sent pictures and updates to my parents. I know we all really appreciated her. The house was well looked after as well. We can’t thank her enough, and would definitely use her services again. Thank you Ellen!”

This is our second time using Carmelle to look after Silkie and Mewtwo. We are again very pleased with the experience. Carmelle is very reliable and the cats love her. One of our cats needs eye medication and Carmelle has no trouble administering the eye drops as per the schedule. We love having Carmelle as our cat sitter and wouldn’t hesitate to book her again.

Sarah was a delight to meet again, and her love of animals is such a wonderful attribute. She has a wonderful heart and will go above and beyond what’s required. Always very professional, keeps notes of my dogs from before (she walked them the other week) and can’t fault her approach – she certainly makes my tail wag too!
From the first interactions, onward, Princess was kind, enthusiastic and communicative. You can feel her love and care for your pets instantly. She is so personable and lovely to chat with, and our boys instantly warmed to her While we were away Princess consistently sent daily text updates with pictures from mealtimes and walks, as well as medication administration so we could see in real time how our boy were being cared for. Princess always asked questions if she was unsure and prioritized safety, prompt communication and gentle, loving care. She truly loved our boys so well, we felt very at ease knowing she was there to give them everything they needed Absolutely will be booking with Princess for our future trips- the boys will be thrilled to have her back again 😊

We are so grateful for the amazing care that Arissa provided our two kitties. She went above and beyond caring for them and ensuring we received regular updates. Arissa was truly amazing and our kitties had the best time with her. It was sweet knowing that she truly got to know our two kitties and cared for the comforts they love. Arissa also went above and beyond in the way she left our home and we can’t recommend her enough. She truly loves pets and has a heart of gold!

Christine was very easy to work with. She was quite interested in getting to know Milo and willing to follow his schedule. We received daily updates, pictures and a video. Christine took Milo to the dog park a few times which he loved. The house was left very clean and we appreciated that she took care of washing the bedding. We would definitely recommend Christine to others considering her to care for their pet. She genuinely enjoys being around pets. We hope she’ll look after Milo again in the future. He was quite relaxed when we returned home and approved of all her attention. Thanks Christine!
Camila was an excellent dogsitter! She connected with our dog almost immediately, took her on lots of walks, sent photos and videos and seemed to really love hanging out with her the 5 days she was in our home. She is also very responsible and easy to communicate and make arrangements with. I would highly recommend Camila to care for your dog and home!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Winnipeg on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Winnipeg maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Winnipeg walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Winnipeg choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
