I came home to a very happy kitten. I was nervous to leave her so long. So I asked for not too much info. Holly just let me know all was good so I don't know details. But my kitten seemd healthy and playful and cuddly when I returned and the place tidy. She was as Holly said in "good hands."

Arrisa stayed with our Frankie for 11 nights and we couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter. she met with us twice before hand so we could get to know her a bit which meant a lot. She sent us regular updates and pictures. Arissa even did all the laundry and cleaned the apartment...even baked croissants and left us some...yum! I know Frankie misses her as he keeps going into the spare bedroom where she slept looking for her. Thank you so much Arissa!

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was 12, and it’s truly one of my favorite things to do! I love spending time with furry friends—feeding them, playing with them, and making sure they feel happy and safe. Since moving to Winnipeg four years ago, I’ve been the go‑to pet sitter for friends whenever they travel. They trust me because I follow their instructions carefully and treat their pets like part of my own family. I’d be happy to give your beloved companion the same loving care while you’re away! I’m working from home right now, so I’d really enjoy hanging out with a furry friend. I have plenty of experience caring for pets, and I’m flexible with my hours to make sure they get all the attention and walks they need. I’ll make sure your pet feels safe and comfy. With a balcony for fresh air, your furry friend will be happy. I follow instructions carefully and give lots of love and care.

About: I have had dogs since I was born. I have fostered over 50 dogs and puppies for several rescues and done a lot of training. My dog, Leia who recently passed peacefully at 13, was very friendly and good with all of the fosters and was great at helping me train them too. Now it’s just me so no other pets in the home. I am currently at home full time and have lots of time to give your dog all the attention they need! I have a car and am mobile enough to play fetch and in the house but walks are usually short. I have a fully fenced yard and a 2 foot deck. I am experienced in puppy proofing my home and have dog toys and balls to play with. I can help with basic training and take instruction on any diet or food concerns or allergies and medications. My dog was 13 when she recently passed, and happy and well trained. My dog loves to play fetch and we walked almost daily as long as the weather wasn’t bad. I would treat your dog as my own. Lots of pets and cuddles too.

About: I’ve taken care of my cat Lincoln for 9 years now, and am unable to adopt a dog because of the apartment I live in. I would love to spend some quality time with dogs however, I miss them so much! I’m currently working part time and trying my best to spend all my free time outdoors, I would love a dog companion for my walks! My cat has remained an indoor cat ever since I have adopted him, and I’m very dedicated to making sure he stays safe and healthy!

About: Hello! My name is Hadas and I am a dedicated pet sitter and dog walker based in Winnipeg. I am 26 years old and work full time from home during the week so my schedule is flexible. I have a passion for caring for animals, and I specialize in providing services for both cats and dogs. I am a big animal lover. I currently have three cats (one senior) and have experience with puppies and senior dogs. 🐶🐈‍⬛ I currently work home full time Monday to Friday 8-4:30. I am always home during the weekends as well. I have a very flexible schedule and can be with your pet all the time and give it all of the love and attention they need and deserve. My home is a very clean, organized and safe place. I have three cats who love dogs. Two of them are four years old and the other one is 11. They are all in great health condition, are fixed and have all their vaccines. We recently had our senior dog pass away and they all got along great. As long as your dog is cat friendly there won’t be an issue.

About: I’ve had dogs and cats my entire life, so being around animals has never felt like work, it just feels normal. Our home always had two or more dogs at a time (of all sizes), so I’m very comfortable juggling big personalities, different energy levels, and all the chaos that comes with a happy pack. My family used to breed Mastiffs, which means I truly grew up raising puppies. I was there for the tiny, clumsy stages, the early training moments, and all the cuddles in between. Helping care for litters taught me patience, structure, and how important consistency is, especially with large breeds. I’ve also loved and cared for senior dogs (fostering), small dogs (had a couple little pomeranians), so I understand the softer side of things too. Slower walks, extra gentleness, watching closely for comfort and mobility, and making sure they still feel safe and happy. Animals have always been family to me. I’m big on affection, routine, and making sure every pet feels secure and spoiled in the best way. Whether your dog loves long walks, play sessions, or just being someone’s shadow, I’m happy to meet them exactly where they are. Pet care fits really naturally into my routine. I work Monday to Friday from 9 to 5, which makes me a great option for evening walks, check ins, and overnights during the week. I’m fully available on weekends, so I can dedicate plenty of time to longer stays or more active pups who need extra attention. I live in a house with two other girls who also love animals, so it’s a welcoming home environment with space and flexibility. Your pet’s routine and comfort always come first, and I’m happy to stick closely to whatever they’re used to. I know leaving your pet with someone else can feel a little vulnerable because they’re family. I care for animals the same way I care for my own, with a lot of attention, patience, and love. I’m careful about things like doors, gates, and sticking to their normal routine because I know how important those small details are. Whether I’m in your home or they’re in mine, I want them to feel safe, relaxed, and genuinely cared for, not just “watched.”

About: I have been around animals all my life and have lots of experience with seniors dogs. I have administered different types of medications and had to make modifications to allow for more mobility. I currently go to school twice a week in Winnipeg and work at a daycare in Stonewall Monday-Wednesday. I am available evenings and weekends and afternoons Thursdays and Fridays. I don’t have a fenced yard but many trees and can provide a staked leash if preferred. I can do crating if you would like for inside as well. At your home I will be cleaning up after myself and your pet and will make sure all their needs are taken care of.

About: My husband and I have owned dogs for the past 15 plus years together, and our families both owned them for many years growing up. While he would not attend your home with me, I like everyone to know that our entire house is Pet lovers. My soft spot is for seniors, and dogs with varying degrees of health related issues. The ones that nobody wants and the often misunderstood ones. I have cared for a variety of breeds with varrying degrees of health issues. I have extensive experience in administering medications, IV fluids, intramuscular injections, eye drops, nail trims, and more. I have had 2 blind dogs (one of which had both of her eyes removed due to glaucoma), so am very familiar with their sometimes unique challenges. I also have experience caring for dogs with little to no hearing, as well as ones with various levels of behavioral challenges, such as resource/food guarding, stranger/leash aggression, and more. As the owner of Manitoba's ONLY small animal rescue charity, I also have a wealth of knowledge and experience with exotic and small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and more! While I love a good puppy cuddle, my heart belongs to the older four (or less!) legged friends, and I would love the opportunity to meet your furry family members. I have an extremely flexible work from home/anywhere schedule with my current job, which allows me the freedom to help provide care for your furry family members. I can work from almost anywhere that has a charging outlet and a wifi connection, which i believe makes me an excellent choice for in your home care, or even a quick wellness visit! I love the idea of coming to your home to care for your pets, as it allows them to continue to feel safe and in a familiar environment. Following their regular routine helps make any time away from mom and dad as stress free as possible. Pets are never left outside unattended, and if you don't have a completely fenced yard, they will always be on a secure leash for potty breaks. If spending overnights in your home, I welcome the pets to share a sleeping space, or crate them as requested. Even if I do things different with my own pets, I want to ensure all of your rules and routines are followed while you are away.

About: Animals have been a huge part of my life from day one. I’ve spent 25 years caring for pets, from playful puppies and curious kittens to senior dogs and cats needing meds and extra TLC. I’ve had both large and small dog breeds, and I’m confident handling everything from daily walks to administering medications and sticking to routines. I’ve also cared for cats of all ages, including grooming, litter box upkeep, and giving oral meds. On top of that, I grew up around horses and even had two of my own, so I’m comfortable around animals big and small. I treat every pet like family and make sure they feel safe, loved, and happy while you’re away. My life truly revolves around animals, they’re a top priority in my daily routine. I'm used to planning my day around feeding schedules, playtime, walks, and medication when needed. Pet care isn’t something I squeeze in, it’s something I genuinely love and make space for. Whether it’s early mornings or evening check-ins, I’m flexible and committed to making sure your pets get the attention and care they deserve. At my home, pets have plenty of space to roam and play. I live on an acreage with an underground fence, so dogs get lots of safe outdoor time. I share my home with 3 friendly dogs and 4 cats, so your pet will be part of a loving, animal-friendly environment. We have kennels available for pets who are crate-trained or need their own space, as well as quiet areas for pets who prefer a calm, low-energy setting. I’m also happy to care for pets in their own home, offering visits, walks, litter box cleaning, playtime, and lots of love. FAQs for House Sitting - Stonewall

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 246 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Stonewall. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Stonewall maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Stonewall walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Stonewall choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
