“Kristin was so responsive to my pet care request and made arrangements immediately for a meet and greet. The transition to dog sitting was seamless. I came back to a healthy and happy dog and a clean house. Would highly recommend Kristin!”

About: I have been taken care of dogs since I was a baby and have had 9 puppers in my life time. My dog Beau is my companion who is full of life! Taking care of her includes administering her medication on a daily basis. I have trained Beau since she was a puppy, this includes simple commands such as sit or shake but also includes more complex training including “place” “heel” and other tricks! I also have experience with senior dogs who often require more care. I am a full time University Student with time during the day, evenings, and weekends to care for pets with all levels of needs. I often have breaks in classes that allows me time to care for animals during the day when most people are at work n I create a safe and comforting environment for all animals in my own home or theirs. I do my best to revolve my schedule around the animals daily routines to make the transition more seamless.

“RP was great with both our dogs. Appreciate the patience he took to get to know them and it gave us great piece of mind to have such a reliable person taking care of our important fur family members.”

“Shayleece was amazing with my dog, Osito. He took to her right away. She was responsible with his health and food. I had to extend my trip for business reasons and she was very flexible. I couldn't have asked for better care. She also took good care of my house. Osito was well cared for and very comfortable with her. Excellent care. Thank you so much for the help.”

About: I have had dogs since I was born. I have fostered over 50 dogs and puppies for several rescues and done a lot of training. My dog, Leia who recently passed peacefully at 13, was very friendly and good with all of the fosters and was great at helping me train them too. Now it’s just me so no other pets in the home. I am currently at home full time and have lots of time to give your dog all the attention they need! I have a car and am mobile enough to play fetch and in the house but walks are usually short. I have a fully fenced yard and a 2 foot deck. I am experienced in puppy proofing my home and have dog toys and balls to play with. My dog loves to play fetch and we walked almost daily as long as the weather wasn’t bad. I would treat your dog as my own. Lots of pets and cuddles too.
“Arrisa stayed with our Frankie for 11 nights and we couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter. she met with us twice before hand so we could get to know her a bit which meant a lot. She sent us regular updates and pictures. Arissa even did all the laundry and cleaned the apartment...even baked croissants and left us some...yum! I know Frankie misses her as he keeps going into the spare bedroom where she slept looking for her. Thank you so much Arissa!”

“Pearl is hands-down the best cat sitter we could wish for! She was terrific with our cat Kit. He's a very shy cat, but loves his bestie Pearl. Pearl sent us lots of photo and video updates during our two-week vacation. It's been such a relief to know that our cat (and our apartment) is in the best hands. We're looking forward to another cat sitting arrangement in the future!”

“This was Kinseys first time taking care of my little ones :) She was proactive with setting a date and time for our meet and greet! I have a 15 year old tabby that’s 12 lbs and a 8 1/2 year old lab retriever mix that is 95 lbs! Kinsey sent me a couple photos to show that they were safe and sound! Kinsey was great at communicating - if she had any questions she let me know right away! She also ensured to give Callie, my pup pup all her AM pills and PM pills which helps provide me peace of mind! It was a rainy week and she made sure to dry Callie so that my place didn’t get messy. She also alerts you immediately if something is wrong! I will definitely be booking with Kinsey again! My place was neat and tidy! Just as I had left it.”
“Sarah was a delight to meet again, and her love of animals is such a wonderful attribute. She has a wonderful heart and will go above and beyond what’s required. Always very professional, keeps notes of my dogs from before (she walked them the other week) and can’t fault her approach – she certainly makes my tail wag too!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Headingley
We had Eleni watch our dog (Jack) and cat (Morty) and she was absolutely wonderful! She was so kind and helpful, very communicative throughout the entire stay, and kept us well-informed with updates. Both pets were happy and well cared for when we returned, and it gave us real peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. Eleni went above and beyond, and we’ll definitely be booking her again in the future. Highly recommend!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Headingley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Headingley walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Headingley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
