Sonja has watched our crew a number of time now but this time was the first time with our 4 month old puppy. There is no one I trust more than her to care for them the way we do. Always grateful for her!

Raquelle is amazing! Our greyhound was well looked after when we were away. She sent loads of photos to me every day so I could see him. And to top it off, Raquelle cleaned the house (including doing laundry) before she left. I would DEFINITELY recommend Raquelle for dog sitting/house sitting!!!!! 5 stars all around!

About: Do you find yourself busy on the weekends? Or exhausted after a long day of work? Is it raining or snowing and all you want to do is kick back and relax? Whatever you’ve got going on, I’ve got you. I have a true love for dogs and enjoy walking them anytime during the day. I have grown up around dogs and am very intuitive to their needs. I am laid back and responsible and I will keep your fur baby safe and happy on our walks together! I also love to brush cats and dogs, especially when they need to have their spring/winter coats brushed out! I have an open schedule! I love to take care of my cats daily and also take care of my friends dog when they are away on work trips. My routine involves a long walk in the morning usually but I’m also known to enjoy an evening walk. I have flexible scheduling! I have a fenced in yard that I can play fetch with your dog. I live with cats and ensure they are well fed, groomed and happy. I love playing with cats and dogs. I have a talent for encouraging cats and dogs to eat as well if they need enticing. I love to take long walks in nature.

Autumn spent a week with Julie and her family and she had a great time! It was the first time we left her with someone outside our family and it was such a relief to know she was in good hands and in a family setting. She is definitely going to miss Julie’s dog Coco!

10/10 would let her dog sit again. Came back to my home cleaner somehow and some very happy doggos. Really good communication, even when I'm in the backcountry with no signal. You can definitely trust her with your home and pets.

About: I have owned animals since I was a kid. I just recently had my dog pass away and I am very keen on looking after your fur baby like they were my own! My passion is to work with animals. I currently live in an apartment so I’m looking for dog walks or dog sits but once I have a house I will be open to boarding!! As long as your dog gets along with other animals I will be able to allow them in my home ☺️ I do live in an apartment but constantly go outside as I have a dog of my own. I also go on trail walks around the area and can take them to the dog park if allowed.

I can't thank you enough for watching our little pet family. I was a very nervous first time Rover pet parent but you put my mind at ease right from the meet and greet. I appreciated the updates throughout the stay and can't recommend you enough. Thank you Yoda!

Walter stayed at our house over the long weekend to take care of our 2 German Shepherds. When we arrived home the house looked exactly as we left it, and the dogs were happy, even sleepy. Walter communicated with us during the weekend with photos and a couple texts. We are happy with Walter and would use his services again.

I can’t say enough good things about Katelyn! She was an absolute blessing. From the moment we met, it was clear Katelyn truly loves animals and takes her work seriously. This was my first time ever leaving my nervous/reactive dog Luna with someone other than family for 2 nights and 3 days. I am an anxious person in general and I obviously wanted the very best for Luna. Luna has specific preferences about how things are done around her. She needs her food prepared right so she eats. Even being leashed to go for a walk by someone other than me can be a challenge. Katelyn followed instructions perfectly to make sure Luna was comfortable at every step and had no issues! She is very professional and asks thoughtful questions before hand to make sure she’s prepared for her stay. She also sends great updates while you’re away to give you that extra peace of mind. Katelyn stayed in our home for the duration of care and left it spotless when we came back. Luna was her wiggly happy self upon our return home! I highly recommend Katelyn to anyone looking for a trustworthy, compassionate, and attentive pet/home sitter.

About: I love dogs and going on long walks; it’s the best of both worlds! I have worked with dogs of various ages, energy levels, and behaviour. Whether your dog likes to run, play, and walk for hours, or just likes to chill with a pal, I got it! I have worked with puppies and older dogs, reactive dogs when other dogs are near, feeding dogs medication, beep collars, crate-trained dogs, etc. I’d love to meet your fur-friends, learn more about them, and will happily accompany them on walks and play time! I am currently working part-time, more so in the evenings, so I have plenty of time from early mornings til 2-4 that I can walk your pups and provide pet care. As it is only part-time, I am still able to work evenings sometimes! I am in school from Sept.-April, therefore I have plenty of time for long walks and pet care now and am available to be your daily morning dog-walker! I do not offer pet care in my home, although am able to provide pet care in a clients home! All of my pet care experience has been in other people’s homes, whether it was dropping in for a potty break, quick walk, or a long walk, even last minute! I have also provided pet care staying overnight in a client’s home for a minimum of 1 night-2.5 weeks. I may not be able to get time off of my part-time job when staying in a client’s home so I hope it is okay if I am gone for 4-8 hours in the evening for a couple of the evenings, if it falls on the days I am scheduled. I have always made sure to time out feeding and walks according to my work schedule when needed.

Lisa was incredible. She cared for my four dogs as if they were her own — attentive, warm, and genuinely invested in their well-being. She kept me updated with thoughtful messages and photos throughout my trip, giving me complete peace of mind. Though walking them wasn’t expected, she went above and beyond to make sure they were happy and active. Lisa is truly reliable, compassionate, and trustworthy — I wouldn’t hesitate to have her back.

About: I have lived and worked in a CKC Registered dog kennel growing up, very familiar with taking care of English Bulldogs and Frenchies specifically. I have also been a pet sitter for many family members with all different breeds, friends and coworkers over the years. I have experience with many dog breeds small to large, cats, small-animals and reptiles. I work part-time, I have a very open schedule for walks, drop ins, hangouts, and home pet sitting for how ever many days may be needed in your home! I have a fenced in yard that is easily accessible even for a older dog that may have mobility issues, I am familiar with every dog park in the city, or I can take them on a hike through one of our many parks and trails. Keeping it laid back is also perfect, a roam around the neighborhood where you're located is a great option also!

Katelyn was fantastic house sitting our dog for 2 days. We've never left our dog with a stranger before and our dog generally struggles with us being away but she felt so comfortable with Katelyn, which says a lot about Katelyn's personality and her genuine love and care for dogs. Katelyn was responsible, attentive, made sure that she knew our dog's routines, and followed through with several particular instructions pertaining to our dog. She also was wonderful in sending us updates and pictures of our dog and we could see how well our dog bonded with her. We truly felt that our dog was well cared for. I definitely will be using Katelyn again in the future and I completely recommend her to anyone who's looking for a considerate and responsible dog sitter!

Appreciated Dannie’s ability to work around my changing schedule. Dannie was terrific in responding to messages and coming out to meet the crew and go over their routines and various aspects of the house. Dannie was also terrific with the 3 cats and sent me photos and updates. They are indoor outdoor cats and she managed that well plus keeping the bird feeder topped up. Washing was done before I arrived home to a home cooked meal and some lovely flowers. I would highly recommend Dannie. A responsible and caring sitter. You will feel comfortable and confident leaving her to be in charge.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in St. Thomas on Rover is $46.62 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 282 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across St. Thomas. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in St. Thomas maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred St. Thomas walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in St. Thomas choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
