Christi did an amazing job taking care of our dog, Amy. From the moment they met, Amy absolutely loved her, which gave us a lot of peace of mind while we were away. Christi was reliable, caring, and clearly great with dogs. It’s obvious she genuinely enjoys what she does. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again in the future. Highly recommend.

Aaron did a great job taking care of our 2 giant fur babies, our home and our plants! He provided updates and pictures and I felt secure that everything was well taken care of while we were away for 5 days. We came home to happy dogs, a clean house and peace of mind! I would happily hire him again next time we go away.

Paula is awesome! We were nervous about leaving our special needs little pug with her, but she made a couple of visits out to our house ahead of time, got to know him and his needs, and he felt so comfortable with her straight away we knew he would be in good hands. She cares a lot about the animals left in her care, and we’re so grateful for her 🫶

About: I've never had a time in my life when there was not a pet in my home. From a young age I was taking care of my family pet as well as neighbors when they went away. All of my personal pets have been adopted and have been family to me. Over the last few years, friends and family have repeatedly chosen me to care for their pets especially when they travel becaise I have the flexibility to stay in their homes. I currently have free time most days including evenings and weekends. I am available for daily walks and overnight stays within the St Thomas area. I typically stay in the clients home to minimize the confusion and stress in a pets life that comes when their family goes away. I walk myself everyday, so when requested I am available to take your pet on a walk more than once a day if required.

About: I’m a dedicated and compassionate pet sitter with over 20 years of fostering experience caring for dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. Through fostering, I’ve gained extensive hands-on experience supporting pets with different needs, from energetic puppies to senior dogs requiring extra patience and care. I also have experience caring for diabetic dogs, including following feeding schedules, monitoring behavior, and administering routine care as instructed. I understand how important consistency and attentiveness are when caring for pets with medical needs, and I take that responsibility very seriously. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always strive to maintain their regular routines so they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, medication support, or simply companionship, I provide calm, reliable, and loving care. I’m dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to clear communication, so you can expect regular updates and photos for peace of mind. I look forward to meeting you and your pet and providing a safe, nurturing, and stress-free pet sitting experience. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I work from home, which allows me to be present, attentive, and flexible throughout the day. Because I’m home, I can provide regular potty breaks, timely meals, walks, medication support, and plenty of companionship rather than leaving pets alone for long periods. I structure my schedule around the pets in my care, making sure their routines are followed closely and their individual needs are met. Whether it’s playtime, exercise, quiet rest, or extra monitoring for pets with medical needs, I’m able to give them consistent attention and supervision. Working from home allows me to be reliable, responsive, and adaptable, ensuring pets feel comfortable, safe, and cared for as part of my everyday routine. I provide attentive, personalized care whether pets are staying in my home or I’m caring for them in their own home. In my home, pets have access to a large yard and a secure, fenced-in dog run, giving them plenty of safe space for exercise, play, and fresh air. I always supervise outdoor time and make sure pets are comfortable, engaged, and safe. Inside, pets are treated like part of my family. I follow each pet’s regular routine for feeding, walks, medications, and rest to help them feel at home and reduce stress. I provide plenty of affection, enrichment, and calm companionship throughout the day. I respect their space and follow all care instructions closely. I make sure pets receive the same level of attention, consistency, and love they’re used to, including maintaining their normal schedules and providing updates and photos for peace of mind. My goal is always to create a safe, nurturing, and comfortable environment where pets feel secure and cared for—just as if they were my own.

About: Hi! I’m Laura, and I’ve been caring for dogs and cats for well over 10 years. I’ve cared for my own pets as well as family, friends’, and neighbours’ animals, and I’ve had experience with a wide variety of dog breeds and personalities, including small breeds, large guardian breeds and high-energy herding breeds. I'm the type to occasionally and very casually (and safely) cross the street to ask if I can pet your dog. I’m responsible, active, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. I’d love to help keep your pets happy and comfortable at home, out on a walk, or just by checking in. I look forward to meeting you and your pets! I’m a mature student in a hybrid program, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to spend a lot of time with the pets in my care. I’m happy to follow your routines and instructions closely, and I understand that caring for your home is part of the responsibility too. I’ll treat your space with the same care and respect I give your animals. House sitting is my favourite way to care for pets because I know how much easier it can be for them to stay in their own home and follow their usual routine while their people are away. I’m attentive to each pet’s individual needs, whether that means an energetic walk, plenty of fetch or playtime, a quiet companion for a shy cat, or simply keeping an older dog comfortable and settled.

Linda was amazing! She took such great care of our dog while we were away for an extended period. On top of that, she was so mindful and respectful of our home. We really appreciated her flexibility and how she accommodated our requests. We got photos and videos every day and we rested well knowing our dog was in Linda’s loving, capable hands. We will definitely be using her services again in the near future and know our dog will love every second of it.

I have a house with a fenced back yard and lots of space. I've been doing this for years now and have had plenty of experience and happy clients! I’m a chill friendly person. Also patient. I grew up with 3 dogs and 5 parrots so I have plenty of animal experience. I've also had a number of successful and happy customers here and on Kijiji where more positive reviews can be found under 99% Geek Sitting! The Terms of Service prevent me from telling people to seek me off the app, and only allow me to say that it's safer to stay in the app. They monitor conversations and penalize harshly! I live near the intersection of Charlton and Locke and would be happy to host your pets here, but if you would rather I can be talked into other arrangements. I can also do 'sitting for kids, or tutoring, I'm knowledgeable in many areas. I've also spent time on Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace and offered a discount at 25 a day but obviously it doesn't offer you the same safety you get here, and it's against the rules to ask you to find me there, so I wont. "Kerri Murtland January 12th 2026 Geek99% is an absolute legend! I swear by his service. I have made him my permanent dog care provider. Geek99% is flexible, dependable, dedicated, supportive, friendly and always willing to take care of my dog last minute. 10/10 highly recommended services" "Taylor Simmons May 16, 2025 We couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter than Andrew! He took care of our dog, Suki, for three months while we searched for a new home, and throughout the entire time, he went above and beyond. Andrew kept us regularly updated with messages and photos which gave us so much peace of mind. Every time we visited Suki, she was happy, healthy, and clearly well-loved. It was obvious she was in great hands. We're incredibly grateful for the care and attention Andrew gave her — he's truly someone you can trust with your pet." I'm always available, as a writer and agoraphobic I don't get out much. You can find me here any day of the week and weekends. I'm attentive, kind, empathetic, understanding and patient. I love animals. I grew up with them, but I don't have the money or resources to have my own. I think being able to earn money getting to hang out with cool animals and chill with them sounds like the dream. I'm responsible, loving, and stable.

Jillian was wonderful and bonded with our dog with ease. Our Moose was post surgery and a little fussy. Jillian gave him lots of affection and helped him feel comfortable enough to rest while we had a much needed family outing. I would highly recommend Jillian for any dog or cat sitting needs. We feel lucky to have met such a kind and caring person to trust with our fur babies. We will be booking with Jillian again! 10/10 :)

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Norfolk County on Rover is $82.74 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 149 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Norfolk County. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Norfolk County maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Norfolk County walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Norfolk County choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
