Christi did an amazing job taking care of our dog, Amy. From the moment they met, Amy absolutely loved her, which gave us a lot of peace of mind while we were away. Christi was reliable, caring, and clearly great with dogs. It’s obvious she genuinely enjoys what she does. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again in the future. Highly recommend.

Britney was a very caring sitter for our senior dog with no hearing, special feeding requirements and socially skittish. Her updates, including pictures, assured us our dog was being well taken care of in our absence. We were very comfortable having Britney in our home. We would gladly use Britney in the future.

Paula was excellent! We had to go away and needed a sitter over night for our boy and she was phenomenal. We got updates throughout the evening and morning after, pictures of our dog and her together and I know he got lots of love! She is very outgoing and I can tell my dog likes his new friend! I will definitely be going to Paula for any of our future needs!

We recently had Josey stay with our dog Oliver overnight. We can’t say enough good things about the experience. She came for a pre-visit a few weeks before to get to know Ollie and we felt super comfortable leaving him in her care. Her communication is prompt and thorough and she checked in regularly and sent photos to ease our mind. It is obvious that she is very experienced and genuinely loves dogs. Ollie loved his stay with Josey and hopes to see her again really soon!

I have a set schedule I work around, but can often make time for any special client requests. I look after our 2 large breed dogs, and have time to care for your pets as well. About: I’m a dedicated and compassionate pet sitter with over 20 years of fostering experience caring for dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. Through fostering, I’ve gained extensive hands-on experience supporting pets with different needs, from energetic puppies to senior dogs requiring extra patience and care. I also have experience caring for diabetic dogs, including following feeding schedules, monitoring behavior, and administering routine care as instructed. I understand how important consistency and attentiveness are when caring for pets with medical needs, and I take that responsibility very seriously. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always strive to maintain their regular routines so they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, medication support, or simply companionship, I provide calm, reliable, and loving care. I’m dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to clear communication, so you can expect regular updates and photos for peace of mind. I look forward to meeting you and your pet and providing a safe, nurturing, and stress-free pet sitting experience. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I work from home, which allows me to be present, attentive, and flexible throughout the day. Because I’m home, I can provide regular potty breaks, timely meals, walks, medication support, and plenty of companionship rather than leaving pets alone for long periods. I structure my schedule around the pets in my care, making sure their routines are followed closely and their individual needs are met. Whether it’s playtime, exercise, quiet rest, or extra monitoring for pets with medical needs, I’m able to give them consistent attention and supervision. Working from home allows me to be reliable, responsive, and adaptable, ensuring pets feel comfortable, safe, and cared for as part of my everyday routine. I provide attentive, personalized care whether pets are staying in my home or I’m caring for them in their own home. In my home, pets have access to a large yard and a secure, fenced-in dog run, giving them plenty of safe space for exercise, play, and fresh air. I always supervise outdoor time and make sure pets are comfortable, engaged, and safe. Inside, pets are treated like part of my family. I follow each pet’s regular routine for feeding, walks, medications, and rest to help them feel at home and reduce stress. I provide plenty of affection, enrichment, and calm companionship throughout the day. I respect their space and follow all care instructions closely. I make sure pets receive the same level of attention, consistency, and love they’re used to, including maintaining their normal schedules and providing updates and photos for peace of mind. My goal is always to create a safe, nurturing, and comfortable environment where pets feel secure and cared for—just as if they were my own.

About: We have had dogs my entire life. I have adopted multiple rescue dogs since moving to including a Senior dog with vision and hearing loss who was not house trained, therefore needing a proactive approach to potty time. I am reliable and free during the day or evening as I work from home in my home based business. I can't wait to meet your little one and to have him be my new best buddy. I currently help my dad with his 3 intact labs and am comfortable with most dogs and most temperaments. Mastiffs, Rottweilers and Pitties are my fave dogs. I currently do not offer home based pet care. However, in YOUR home I would follow any medication, behavioural and activity guidelines you set out.

About: Recently I spent five months pet sitting in BC. I thoroughy enjoyed spending time with various dogs in their homes. I found that the dogs felt comfortable and at ease in their own homes while their owners knew their pets were well taken care of. Each day was a new adventure as we walked along lakes and mountains paths. I am a recently retired teacher looking for new opportunities and adventure to fill my time. I have a flexible schedule to suit your petsitting needs. As a pet owner in the past, I know how important safety is to a pet owner. I also know that a dog who gets lots of exercise and a cat who gets love and attention are happy pets. I will ensure that I will treat your pets like they are my own.

Walter was great with my 4 year old chihuahua. Because he is timid, I was nervous leaving him with a sitter for the first time, but Walter sent pictures and kept me informed on a daily basis. By the end of the 3 night sit they had become buddies, and Walter left the house in perfect order. Definitely recommend!

FAQs for House Sitting - Norfolk County

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Norfolk County on Rover is $82.74 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 148 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Norfolk County. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Norfolk County maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Norfolk County walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Norfolk County choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
