About: We are dog people! IYKYK right? We've had dogs for a long time, from childhood besties to adult faithful companions. We raised a beagle from 12 weeks to 12 years old. We've adopted dogs midlife and have cared for multiple senior dogs. We've run the gamut of situations and are well equipped to make your dogs feel at home. Every dog we've had has been a big part of our family. Our hearts are open. In the Spring of 2025 we had to say goodbye to our beloved chocolate lab, Sandy. Now our pet free home is open to care for your dogs. Amy works from home full time (Dave is home 2 days/week) so we have lots of flexibility to dote on your dog. We love taking neighborhood walks in the mornings/evenings. We have a lovely fenced in backyard with lots of room for your dog to roam freely and your dog will love the trails that run near our house for walks.

“Justin checked in with me multiple times throughout the day, sending a few photos and provided updates on my dog Luna. Luna definitely was well taken care of and is happily snoozing by my feet after a great day out (bonus fetch!). Will be booking with Justin for a 4 night boarding stay for Luna in the future and I am extremely confident that she will be well cared for and provided lots of attention. Thanks so much!!”

About: I have 12+ years experience with dogs. And I currently own a 1 year old Golden Retriever who also loves animals! I will ensure your pets are safely taken care of up to your standards. Most of my late Afternoons are free throughout the week, and have 1-2 days completely free to take care of any animal. I work as a Massage Therapist so I am usually busy 5-6 hours a day, 4-6 days a week. I live in a 24 hour secure extremely pet friendly building. There is plenty of space for your dog to walk, or to take breaks outside of my home. I can easily crate your dog if needed.

About: I've owned and cared for dogs throughout my life, and am currently the proud owner of a 5-yo Beagle, Stella. She's very friendly with lots of friends and playmates, so our home is well adapted to four-legged visitors and guests :) I'm a freelance translator who works from home, with a flexible schedule and generally light workload, leaving me plenty of time to look after other dogs besides my own, including long walks and fun outings to the park. I have a great set-up to board dogs in my home: I live with my dog (5yo) and cat (8yo) in a bright, clean suite with a nice balcony in a very pet-friendly apartment complex in the North End of Halifax. There's a fenced-in dog run in the back and a semi-private courtyard out front where dogs like to congregate and socialize, I'm in a very walkable neighborhood close to downtown, the Commons and the waterfront, and I have a safe, reliable car that I use to take my dog and others on fun outings to the park (Point Pleasant Park is a favorite destination). In addition, I was recently certified in Pet First Aid by St. John Ambulance (Oct. 29, 2023 - certificate available for viewing in photos).

“Miriam is an excellent caretaker of my bog dog, Trigger. Triggs has anxiety and can't really be left alone, he was content and happy to spend the afternoon with Miriam while we had an opportunity to visit Halifax and take in some of the sights. Definitely looking forward to having Miriam watch Trigger agin in the future!”

“Peter was wonderful with Ella! It was my first time leaving her with someone she wasn’t familiar with but she took a liking to him very fast and felt comfortable with him! I felt comfortable leaving her with him, he gave me updates throughout the day and was overall a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend him to any pup parent! :)”

About: Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland. I emigrated to Canada in 2020. After spending a few years in Toronto, I moved to Halifax in February 2025. If you take your dog(s) to Point Pleasant Park, there's a good chance that you have bumped into me and my little black Patterdale Terrier (Calvin) already! I've been around and looked after dogs most of my life. Growing up, I had a Border Collie and looked after my uncle's German Shepherd, and whenever we go home to my in-laws' house, I love spending time with their huge Golden Retriever. Calvin and I are enjoying exploring Halifax and the surrounding areas. Calvin is very friendly and loves the company of other dogs. I offer dog boarding and daycare services. I have a seasonal job (April to December) where I work from home. There is a degree of flexibility with my job, so I can nip out with the dogs for frequent potty breaks if necessary, and can take them out in the car to somewhere they can run around and get some exercise before and after work, (if your dog has poor recall, I have an extra long training leash). During the winter months, I will be available for dog walking services in addition to boarding and daycare. When staying with us, be it for boarding or daycare, rest assured, your dog will be well looked after. There will be a good walk each morning and early evening. During the day, there will be lots of playtime, cuddles, physical and mental stimulation (and potty breaks if necessary). I am not a professional dog trainer, but I do enjoy the training process. If there is something that you are working on with your dog at home, let me know about it (what your goal is, what command/signals you use), and I will try to continue the training during the stay. Do not be surprised if your dog needs a good snooze after leaving our care! Lol.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 10 years old, my dad always had 3-4 dogs around and I love to play, feed and walk them. I raised a pup until the age of 13. I have taken care of dogs of all ages including 2 senior dogs 10+, I’m very well equipped to manage puppies and senior dogs and everyone in between. I will take very good care of your dog and will make sure it feels safe and loved. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule so I can accommodate daily walks and more. I’m available for boarding on weekends and anytime after 5PM. I live in a good sized ground floor apartment with access to a fenced backyard with no other pets around. I live 5 minute walk away from Needham Park so there will be lots of opportunities for walks and to play. I can accommodate any type of dog and will ensure they feel safe and cared for.

Trish H.
“Trish has been a friend and neighbor for years, and in all the time I've known her, she's always been a loving and attentive caregiver for animals - especially for her dog Stella and cat Chico, both of whom she adores (the feeling is mutual), but also for the frequent four-legged visitors to her home, all of whom she showers with affection. Whether she's down on the floor playing and snuggling with them on a rainy day, taking them on long walks or bundling them off for fun outings to the park or beach, it's clear that her top priority is the health and safety of any animal in her care. I've always known Trish to be highly reliable and responsible, and am happy to enthusiastically recommend her as a pet caregiver :)”

Ryan L.
“I recently had the pleasure of hiring Ryan to look after my beloved fur baby, Winston, and I cannot express how thrilled I am with the exceptional care and love provided! From the moment we met, I knew I had found the perfect dog sitter. Ryan exceeded all of my expectations in every way. Their enthusiasm for dogs was evident right from the start, and it was obvious that they truly have a passion for what they do. They treated Winston as if he were their own, showering him with love, attention, and the best belly rubs he's ever had! The communication throughout the entire dog sitting experience was fantastic. I received regular updates, photos, and videos of Winston, which not only put my mind at ease but also filled my heart with joy. It was clear that Ryan was taking excellent care of my furry friend. Thank you, Ryan, for your outstanding care and love for my dog. You are a true gem, and I can't thank you enough.”
Dartmouth dog parents share their Rover experiences
Ben was absolutely amazing. My partner and I were travelling through Halifax and needed a few hours of dog care while we did some sightseeing that wasn’t dog friendly. Ben was quick to respond, and easy to make arrangements with. From start to finish, Ben provided expert service and care, and shared lots of photos of the doggos so I could rest at ease knowing they were in good hands. Thank you again Ben!

Carolina was an amazing sitter for my Phoebe. We did doggy daycare and Carolina was so flexible with my long work hours, she sent lots of photos and videos throughout the day. Phoebe’s tail was wagging by the second day when I dropped her off which was a very comforting feeling. I would highly recommend Carolina and will definitely return for more dogsitting. Thanks Carolina!! :)

Peter was wonderful with Ella! It was my first time leaving her with someone she wasn’t familiar with but she took a liking to him very fast and felt comfortable with him! I felt comfortable leaving her with him, he gave me updates throughout the day and was overall a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend him to any pup parent! :)

Tyler was an amazing dog sitter for my pup, Digby! He kept Digby happy and cared for while I was in a course all day, and his dog Beau was the perfect playmate. I came home to a tired and content dog—highly recommend Tyler to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!

Nik responded quickly to my request, made time for a meet and greet prior to the day and took great care of my dog, Evie. Evie seemed quite comfortable with Nik despite being a timid dog. I appreciated the easy communication and updates throughout the day and Evie appreciated getting to hang out with Billie and play at the dog park. I would definitely book daycare or dog waking with Nik again.

My female Greyhound had a great day with Muhammad and one other dog. He took them for appropriate walks and some additional fun activities too, like running and chasing time in a contained area. He was very quick to respond and willing to help us out with only a few days notice, and since we are from out of town he was flexible with his ability for a meet and greet a head of time, and with our drop off and pick up times since we were dependent on an event. He was calm and confident, and his space was big enough to separate the dogs of they had needed that ( which they didn't). If I was ever back in the area and needed pet care, I would definitely book again.

Sarah’s home was clean and tidy, she presented herself as a kind and responsible woman. I felt confident my dog would be happy and safe staying with her. She posted photos and recorded their walks. My dog returned home clean and happy. My dog has a great day with Sarah and I would definitely work with her again.
