“Stephanie and James had a great first day sit with our young puppy. They took great care, sent lots of updates and were flexible with arrangements. Really pleased.”

“Winston is a 55lb bernedoodle who has been coming to visit Amber and her dog, Dante, 2+ times a month for daycare, as well as regular overnight stays for over a year now. He is on the anxious side and Amber is able to calm him and make him feel at home away from home. She is reliable, flexible, responsive, and sends multiple updates and pictures throughout his stays with her. He is well exercised and tired when I pick him up after a long day. Thank you, Amber!”

“This is a Eliza’s first experience of being away from home. She’s been here for the last three Sundays. She really loves it and is treated very well. We no longer have any anxiety about leaving her in a doggy daycare. Thanks.”

About: My pet care experience started 10 years ago - my dad took me to his best friends house and they told me their dog loved going on adventures but they weren’t able to get out much. From there I started pickup him up for walks and hikes, and eventually I ended up pet sitting a bunch of different times. My favourite memory was when he hopped the fence and ran next door and waited for me at the basement suite door because he knew I was cleaning it. We became inseparable! Eventually I got my own dog, became friends with a dog trainer and have spent so many hours working and learning as much as I can about dogs. My kiddo is a little older and now I’d love to offer services to others. I work remotely taking clients so I am available most days of the week t take care of your furry friends! We have lots of green space at nearby parks for decompressing and sniffing and live in a great neighbourhood for dog walks. I have a fully fenced yard, as well as a fenced dog run. Inside the house I do require dogs to be crate trained for overnights. I offer dogs clear communication and structure in my home, with a guarantee their needs will be met. One of my best friends is a dog trainer and I work heavily with my own dog to ensure needs like prey drive (play) and pack drive are met. As well as plenty of time to decompress.
“Yam was fantastic with Poppy today! She took wonderful care of her, kept me updated, and made sure Poppy felt happy, comfortable, and well-loved throughout the stay. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, Poppy came home happy and relaxed. I would highly recommend Yam to anyone looking for an attentive and trustworthy pet sitter!”

“Could not ask for a better place to bring my dogs and know that they are getting everything that they need and more. They love going there. Will continue to use all the time. Thank you again.”

“Ziying was flexible, fast to respond and sent so many pictures. She gave exceptional care to our pup, putting her at ease and giving her lots of time to play fetch (a favourite!). Highly recommend!”

“Brianna is amazing! The dogs feel so safe with her already at the time we met, just like old friends. Brianna and family showed a lot of love to my dogs. She also updated me with photos and videos, which you would know the dogs are in good care. Highly recommend Brianna if you need the help of day care or boarding.”

“As soon as I passed over the leash with Neo he didn’t even look back. It was like the first day of kindergarten all over again. He was excited to see me at pick up time but as soon as we’re in the car, he’s having a nap. That’s a good sign of a good day! Thank you, Jeanette and Ferris and the kitties too.”

“Camille is always so great with Piper. She communicates well and when Piper arrives she pulls to get inside and see Camille. We couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend her services”

“Amanda was so lovely and accommodating! Elio came home a very happy and sleepy boy, clearly had the best day ever! Would absolutely book again and highly recommend her!”

About: I have my dog since he was a puppy until he's senior now. I have experience with puppy training and also how to take care senior dog. Sometimes, I have friends who takes their dogs to stay with me, while they are away. My dog is friendly, he is get along well with any other dog. I'm a stay home mom with 2 kids, 9 and 7 years old. They are very gentle with our dog. We have medium fence yard that would be enough for dog to do their business, play and run around. I am mostly at home every day, except if I am out for taking my kids to their courses/activity. I walk my dog everyday even on winter time, so more dogs to come walk with us is no big deal. I will make sure that your dog fed well and walk everyday while he/she in my cares. I will treat them well, as my own dog.
“I found the home to be a very calm and gentle environment for Macaron's first day long stay, and the host and hostess to be very kind and caring individuals. Macaron does not typically walk for long distances for a new host, though on a very cold day, it is still good for Macaron to be outside, even if just for a little while. He loves the snow! Nicholas seems to quite knowledgeable about what a new dog visitor to the home might need to feel comfortable there, which was also a comfort to me. Thank you. It was a good day for us both.”

Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AB ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
