“Erica was fantastic! She and her daughter watched our dogs for two nights, and we couldn't be happier. They took them on walks and played with them, and it was clear they were incredibly well taken care of. We felt completely at ease knowing they were in such good hands, providing us with multiple updates and pictures throughout her stay. We'll definitely be booking Erica again!”

“Allyson stayed at our house for a week and watched our dog cam. She was beyond amazing at taking care of Cam and went above and beyond washing the sheets in the house before she left. I highly recommend her for anyone who needs a dog sitter!”

“Cara was amazing! She's trustworthy, super responsive, and great in a crisis! Our two dogs got sprayed by a skunk in the middle of the night on her last night sitting and she went above and beyond to help. She bathed the dogs, scrubbed the house to minimize the scent, washed blankets & towels, she even went out and bought a professional skunk deodorizer. When our flight was delayed, she came back before bedtime to check on our girls, let them out again, and made sure they had everything they needed until we made in home late. If I could give Cara more than 5 stars, I definitely would! I will for sure be booking with Cara again!”

“She loves dogs. Susan is a great communicator, reliable and friendly and prompt. We could tell within a few seconds that our dogs were in good hands with Susan as their sitter. She did a great job letting us know that the dogs were happy and well cared for while we were at our event. We highly recommend her and will ask her to sit again the next time we are in the area”

About: I've been a lifelong animal lover and have hands-on experience caring for a variety of pets. I've been the primary caregiver for my dog for 8 years and my cat for 3 years, and I've also cared for birds, hamsters, and fish. As a pet owner myself, I understand the importance of reliable, attentive care and will treat your pets like my own. Im a full time college student with very limited time during the week for drop ins or sitting but most weekends are free and available! Your pet's safety is my top priority. As a pet owner, I understand that every animal has unique behaviors and needs. Having cared for dogs with a tendency to bolt, I am especially mindful around doors, gates, and leashes and always take extra precautions to prevent escapes. I will carefully follow your pet's routine, respect your home's rules, and provide a calm, secure environment while you're away. My goal is to make your pet feel comfortable and cared for while giving you peace of mind.
“Haley did a great job taking care of our very nervous pup and our home! She is reliable and communicates well. Our 9 year old rescue was very anxious meeting a new person, but Haley was able to win him over. I highly recommend her as a responsible, kind and caring person to take care of your pets when you are away!”

“Susan and Ian were lovely and took great care of my 4 cats while I was out of town for a few days. They both checked on the kitties and sent lots of pictures of them being loved on. I felt very comfortable being away which was nice because I was nervous about leaving them! I’ll definitely be booking with them again in the future :)”

“Aspen is such a great house sitter! Our pups were well taken care of and given all the overnight cuddles they needed. Thank you so much Aspen for keeping our dogs and our home safe.”

“Amazingly professional and dedicated sitter. Knowing that she was taking care of our animals and our house really put us at ease and allowed us to fully enjoy our vacation without worrying about our animals at all. Her dog Theo is very sweet and got along great with both my dog and cat. Jessie took my dog to a different park or part of the river every day I was gone. Very professional and dedicated she took her job very seriously and went above and beyond. Highly recommend!”

“Robin was a fantastic sitter for Millie! She sent lots of photos, updates, and took great care of my dog. She also was a very tidy house guest. I would definitely recommend and use her in the future for dog sitting.”

“Bri took care of our 4 pets with ease and care. She was super communicative throughout the stay and was an absolute dream to work with. Highly recommend!”

“Wendi did a wonderful job taking care of Oliver, our 12 year old orange kitty. She shared many photos and provided lots of good communication during her stay. Our home was clean and organized when we returned home from our trip. I highly recommend her if you need a caring and reliable pet sitter.”

“We are very happy with house and pet sitting done by Hanna. She kept us well informed and helped make it easy to enjoy our time away from home knowing our home and pet were well cared for.”

“Selena took great care of our dogs!! She was great at communicating, the dogs were very happy and the house was tidy when we got back :) we would definitely have Selena watch our dogs again”

“Ryleigh took such great care of Ruby and was great about sending multiple pictures every day while I was gone. This is the second I’ve worked with Ryleigh and I’ll definitely have her stay with Ruby again in the future.”

“Hannah was great! She checked in regularly and was just generally kind and pleasant, also was good at working with Nessy’s quirks and following her routine. She even was kind enough to do the linens laundry and clean, which was above and beyond.”

“Five stars doesn’t feel like enough for Mackenzie! We couldn’t have asked for a better person to take care of our dogs while we were away. We have a full house with four dogs, each with their own personalities, quirks, routines, and needs, and she picked up on who they were SO quickly. She spent tons of time actually engaging with them—playing outside, throwing their balls, and giving them plenty of attention and affection. We came home to four very happy, very well-cared-for, and appropriately worn-out dogs, which is about the best review they could give. 😂 Her communication was also fantastic. She sent us tons of pictures and videos throughout our trip, and it was incredibly reassuring to be able to see that everyone was happy and comfortable. I especially loved how quickly she started noticing and sharing the little things that make each of our dogs them. We felt completely at ease having Mackenzie in our home and caring for our crew, and we would absolutely trust her with them again. We’re so grateful we found her and would recommend her without hesitation!”

“Ayalene was great! I have a high energy Australian shepherd that has some separation anxiety and can be reactive on leash. She handled everything with ease and followed all my instructions! My dog and cats were super happy, the house was clean when returning, and it felt great knowing my pets and house were safe! Thank you Ayalene for all your help! I would absolutely recommend her and book her again”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 4,543 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Buckheaven. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Buckheaven walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Buckheaven maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Buckheaven choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Buckheaven. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
