Marti is such an excellent dog sitter and a truly nice person. Our dog is elderly, hard of hearing, visually impaired, and on a special low protein diet. Marti came to our home to care for Samson for 9 days, and care for him she did! She loved him like we do, making sure all his needs were met. She sent us lots of pictures throughout each day, and she let us know if she needed to leave him for even a couple hours. I recommend Marti without any reservations at all. She is the best!

Rachel took such great care of our anxious dog who can’t be boarded. She went above and beyond and trimmed his nails when we didn’t have a chance to get them done before our trip.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats, young and senior for 25+ years. Your pet will be family to me. And will be loved and cared for very well. In addition, I’m neat and clean. You’re home will also be well cared for. I’m presently not working. So, I will be with your pet 24/7. I like to snuggle with my pets and hope your pet will enjoy snuggling with me. I LOVE dogs and cats! Your pet will be treated as if my own. Walks and snuggles and snacks (if you permit) will be plentiful. I’m a low key, quiet person. So your pet does not have to be fearful of me.

About: My mother had a boarding company so I spent a lot of my childhood helping care for all the doggos. I have also volunteered at numerous shelters & farm sanctuaries & have helped care for even more than just cats & dogs. I also have an 8 year old chocolate lab & 2 five year old kitties myself that I love & care for every day. I am currently working part time, with availability anytime after 4 pm Monday through Thursday! In the next 3 weeks my availability will open up a little bit more! I was raised around both cats & dogs & have a very good understanding of how to read both animals. I have a very soft calm aura as well as a lot of love & patience to build trust with the fur babies.

About: I've been taking care of dogs since i was a kid. I had my first pet when I was 8 and been a dog lover ever since. Now I have my own two little troublemakers Tobi and Canela, who I've had for 6 years and 2 years respectively. I've had them both since they were small puppies so I have a lot of experience with puppy care. I live a pretty active lifestyle so I love to go for long walks with my dogs and I would definitely be providing the same for your pets. I love to play with dogs and I've definitely been guilty of buying far too many toys for my pups to play with. I provide house sitting, overnight stays, dog walking services, and puppy care. I love to take pictures of animals so you'd also be receiving lots of playtime pictures! Your pets will be my passion and I'm ready to provide any and all services at a good affordable rate! I work full time M-F 9-5 so I can usually accommodate any care around those hours. I typically have very free weekends allowing me to take care of your pets whenever it's needed. I work by the Buffalo Niagara airport so depending on the location I can even provide a quick check-in during my lunch breaks at work. I have a lot of experience with crate training as my younger dog needed it to curb her destructive tendencies when she was left alone at home. I also have plenty of experience with potty training as I've trained both my dogs to be potty trained to go on their pads when they need to potty while I'm away. For any drop in visits I would make sure your pet has had a good amount of enrichment play and gotten plenty of love and affection before my visit with them ends

Samara was fantastic!!! This was the first time using the River app and. basically having a stranger come stay at my house, so naturally I was a bit cautious but i couldn't have asked for a better pet sitter!! I felt very comfortable leaving her alone at my house and caring for my 2 best buddies 🐶🐱. My dog is big and intimidating and Samara had no issues with her at all, they quickly became best buds 💗. I will definetely use her again and would recommend Samara 100% 😊. Thank you Samara

My dog, Rei is generally skittish around strangers but with Forest she was at home and cuddly! Forest took great care of Rei, took her on jogs while I was away on a trip, and checked in regularly with me which helped me relax during my vacation. He was very kind and polite and followed instructions well. I would highly recommend Forest and will definitely book him again in the future. :)

Sarah took excellent care of our dog Rusty while we were away for a week! She was very attentive to the details we shared about the nuances of our good lil pup and kept her happy. She kept us updated on how their time was going and assured us that Rusty was being a good girl. Took care of emptying our mailbox and left the place in great condition. Thanks again Sarah! Will definitely book again

Judith is always prompt, honest, accommodating, respectful, caring, and professional. When we leave our girl with Judith we have absolutely no worries at all. It’s such a relief to have peace of mind leaving our sweet fur baby. Thank you Judith!!!

About: I have aided in training both of our German shorthaired pointers growing up as well as a go-to pet carer and walker when close friends and family are on vacation or cannot get away from the office. I take time out of my day to do this for my current family & friends so I am used to making the pets a priority because that time of their day I get to spend with them is very crucial to their happiness since their owner cannot be there. I take pride in being chosen to be a part of different pets lives and have a vast experience with different breeds (aussies, bulldogs, labs, and cats are just to name a few!) Looking forward to chatting soon!! Pet care fits into my routine pretty frequently. I have an hour of lunch time to myself and use that to be able to let pets out and if the owner requests to stay with them a big longer, I do & finish up some work there if possible. Getting out at 5 p.m. every day is a benefit to the pets I go let out and spend time with because the rest of the night I am free. My availability is Monday-Sunday! I care for the pets with mostly the instructions the owner gives like if they need fed or not etc but I always always always make sure to play with them, give them pets, and make sure they are used to me before anything else. If they have a fenced in yard I will play with them but in other cases when the dog is staying in my house with me, I always give them walks throughout the day as well as bring them to a cages in dog park near my house so they can roam free a bit without the leash.

About: All 3 of my animals I've owned throughout my life have lived full, happy lives. They also, however, required close supervision. Both cats were outdoor cats which required consistent grooming, tick repellant, and even medicine administration for when they ate something they shouldn't have, or developed infections (administering pills to a cat is a skill I'm proud to put on my resume.) My dog Connor developed an autoimmune disease, and required prednisone administration daily. He was also a very reactive dog to other dogs, so those behaviors I am very well-versed in handling. The same can be said for my partner's family's two dogs (black lab mix and white Dogo Argentino), and my sister's pug mix. Dogs are reactive for a reason and I do not judge them for it, I'm happy to accommodate their predispositions. I work completely remote (and to be truthful it's a pretty chill job day to day) so I'd consider myself the best option as someone who has a full time job outside of Rover! Plus, I love the company of pet sitting during the week. I'm of the belief that cats and dogs belong on the couch and the bed, so in my home they are allowed wherever they please. That being said, if you have more strict rules for your animals either inside my home or yours, I completely understand and have no problem carrying out your wishes (obviously.) My care style is attentive. I know that's another obvious answer, but I've always loved interacting with animals, playing with them, etc. It makes me happy.

Katie was wonderful!!! Great communication. We were out of town for an extended period and had a few different sitters, Katie was second and picked up all the poop the first sitter didn’t for the week before her! She noticed the garbage pickup was the next day and put the can out and brought it back in without us even asking. Highly recommend and will use again.

Rachel exceeded all of my expectations! This was my first time ever leaving my pets with a sitter, and she made the entire experience stress free. From the very beginning, she was flexible, reliable, and took the time to come by for a meet and greet, which made me feel so much more comfortable. Throughout the stay, Rachel kept me updated with messages and photos, communicated consistently, and truly made me feel like my girls were in safe hands. She even offered to stay later while I was traveling back home! When I came home, my house was spotless, she had even washed the sheets on my bed and kept everything neat and tidy. Most importantly, I could tell my girls were completely comfortable and well cared for, which means everything to me. I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience with a pet sitter. I will absolutely be booking Rachel again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and dependable!

FAQs for House Sitting - Bowmansville

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Bowmansville on Rover is $65.56 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 589 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Bowmansville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bowmansville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bowmansville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bowmansville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Bowmansville. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 87% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
