Erin is THE BEST! Our dog absolutely loves her. Hachi can be a difficult walk and Erin figured it out quickly. She’s very responsive and professional. Highly recommend.

About: Experienced dog owner with 3 dogs. Two dogs are reactive/timid, one of which has allergies and pancreatic issues so I am familiar with pilling and dogs with special needs. I just graduated law school and took the bar and am awaiting results. I will start my full-time job in mid October so my availability will decrease. I think it’s important to be attentive to your animals needs, and also make sure to follow the rules of the house. Please let me know if you have any specific dos or donts for your pet!

Katie is absolutely fantastic. 1st, she was able to accommodate us extremely last minute. She took care of two of our dogs, one of which is very strong and not very good on a leash. Katie was great i'm about community back and forth about anything that she may have had questions about or vice versa. She also went out of her way and helped scoop out our cat's litter and clean up that area that they had made a mess while we were away. She was super sweet to our whole crew and we will 100% be using her again. Thanks Again Katie!!!!

About: When you book with me, you’re choosing someone who genuinely loves animals and treats your pets like family. With 7+ years of professional pet sitting experience, I care for pets of all ages, personalities, and medical needs. Because I work remotely, I’m able to spend more quality time with your pets, keeping their routines consistent and providing plenty of companionship while you’re away. One of the compliments I receive most often is that owners come home to pets who are calm, relaxed, and comfortable. That’s always my goal to make your time away as stress free as possible for both you and your pets. You’ll receive regular photo updates, thoughtful communication, and the peace of mind that your home will be cared for with the same respect I give your pets. ✈️ Available for long-term stays, travel, and out-of-state bookings. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your furry family! Because I work remotely, your pets enjoy more companionship throughout the day. From morning walks and midday playtime to evening cuddles, they’re rarely left feeling alone. Your pets thrive in the comfort of their own home, and I work hard to keep it that way. I follow your routines, respect your space, and care for your home with the same attention I give your pets. My goal is for you to come home to a happy pet, a house in the same condition you left it, and complete peace of mind.

About: Greetings! I'm Daniel, I've been pet-sitting and dog-walking off and on for 17 years. I love animals: With me, you get a new friend for your pets, and a dependable steward of your home. I believe in the Hawaiian meaning of "Kahu," that we should be guardians and beloved attendants of our animal friends. I devote highly sensitive heart-centered care for your pets for two main reasons: 1) I am a remote worker as a writer and healing coach, so I can be at home with our furry friends. I am not just feeding and walking your dog(s) and caring for your cats; I am providing emotional support and plenty of care (frequent outdoor breaks and walks, playtime, pats, massage, energy work, etc.). 2) I am a professional in the practice of meditation and the healing arts, a path that cultivates empathy, which helps me bond with animals and be more attuned to their needs. I have been on this path for 17 years. I am highly intuitive. I practice Eastern techniques of energy work (qi qong and martial arts) and I am a certified Reiki practitioner, so I love to connect with animals as part of that practice (they are great conductors of energy, which is only ever healing and calming for them to experience). I aspire to the highest level of performance and etiquette. I promise to treat your pets and space as sacred; to maintain a clear boundary between me and your possessions; and to leave no trace. I understand that by inviting me into your home to care for your pets and space that I am with you as a new friend. From my many years of cultivation on my spiritual, healing, and professional path, I assure you my integrity is outstanding, and I would be happy to send you testimonies and references to confirm. Thank you for your trust. I would be happy to chat about sitting or walking for you. I look forward to joining you and yours' in friendship. Warm regards, Daniel I will be available to be at home with your pet for most of every day that I am sitting. My only obligation that takes me out of house are walking other dogs (1 to 3 hours per day) and then the occasional social or other engagement. I will never leave your pet alone for longer than 5 hours. As a remote worker, both for writing and offering healing/coaching services, I work from home and am therefore able to maintain a comforting presence for your pet and provide frequent outdoor time, play, and other care. I recognize the great trust that people grant me in caring for their homes and pets. Integrity is a guiding value of my life: You can rest assured that I will honor my commitment to care for your space and pets with the utmost attention and respect. I'll honor your instructions for being in your house and caring for your pets. I always live lightly, use no more than I need and am permitted to use, and I leave no trace. Thank you for your trust. Daniel

About: I have been taking care of cats and dogs for 20 years. As a pet owner myself, I know how important it is to feel comfortable and know that your pets are being taken care of while you're away. My services range from overnight stays to dog walks or check-ins. I'm happy to work with you to meet you and your pets' needs! I enjoy pet sitting and meeting new furry friends, so I incorporate Rover into my weekends, beginning on Friday. Note about Fridays: On Fridays I can only dog walk, do a drop-in, or begin house sitting in the evening. I have no morning availability. I have two cats at home who I spend a lot of time with. I am meticulous about their health and I like to make sure that they have all of their needs met. When I’m in your home I will provide that same level of care for your pet and your space.

About: I am a huge animal lover and have always had dogs my entire life! I currently have two cats, but love visiting all my friends with pups/watching or taking care of them while my friends are away! Animals usually take to me very well and I love all breeds and sizes! I currently have a full time job so whenever I’m not working there I have a good amount of free time and love to go on walks to the ocean and parks! I figured I could easily do that while walking a dog as well! I do not offer services inside my house at this time unfortunately, only due to a no dog policy that is enforced by my landlord.

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Bowdoin. On Rover:

  • 98% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
