Jeff was a very good choice for us to leave Sammy in his care. He communicated with us on a regular basis and sent lots of pictures, which allowed us to enjoy our time away, knowing Sammy was comfortable. We were surprised at how quickly Sammy responded to Jeff. He is usually pretty shy. We will definitely rebook him.

I had the pleasure of having Kristen watch our dogs, Leroy and Stella Blue, during our stay at the hotel in North Dakota. She did a fantastic job, ensuring their comfort and well-being while we were away. Kristen's attention to detail and genuine care for our pets were evident, and it gave us great peace of mind. We would not hesitate to hire her again on our next visit to North Dakota. Highly recommended!

I currently have a Labrador retriever who has had tplo so I understand complex animals and their needs I enjoy taking care of animals in many different life stages as they are all important. I usually work 4-3pm most days but I have a 30 minutes lunch I can use to potty your dog and even go before work in the early hours if needed I can/am willing to give and do many tasks including walking, feeding, medication administering, cleaning up, and taking outside/pottying. I love to cuddle and play with dogs so I’m willing to spend a little extra time to bond with them!

About: I have owned and cared for my own dog(s)for about 10 years and I used to do my own dog lessons for about 2 years until I left for college. I worked at a vet clinic for a year and learned general care along with medication distribution so anything like that doesn’t bother me. I’m working part time at two jobs that are very flexible, and my early mornings are open till 9am, and evenings are open most days of the week. I am good at communicating so if there and any questions or concerns with scheduling we can mesh it out. I can take your dogs on walks or just keep them in a yard if that makes you more comfortable. I can feed you dogs as often as you’d like and I can distribute their meds aswell. I can teach your dog some general obedience but only if directed to, as everyone wants there dog to behave the way they want them too.

About: For the past 8 years, I’ve been caring for pets with the same love and attention I give my own. My experience includes everything from daily walks and playtime to feeding routines, medication reminders, and keeping pets calm and comfortable while their owners are away. I’ve worked with dogs and cats of all ages, personalities, and activity levels—shy pets who need patience, energetic pups who crave interaction, and seniors who need a gentle, steady hand. I’m attentive to each pet’s unique needs and always prioritize safety, communication, and consistency. Whether it’s sticking to a detailed routine, offering extra cuddles, or providing plenty of exercise, I make sure every pet feels secure and cared for. Pet parents can count on me for reliable updates, thoughtful attention to detail, and a warm, trustworthy presence. Pet sitting is my full-time job, so I’m able to give your pets plenty of time and attention throughout the day. I’m available for morning, midday, and evening visits, and I’m flexible with scheduling to match your pet’s normal routine. Since I don’t have pets of my own right now, I happily get all my cuddles, playtime, and companionship from the pets I care for. Your fur babies get my full focus—and lots of love—every visit. Most of my pet care takes place in the pet owner’s home, where pets feel most comfortable and can stick to their normal routine. I’m also open to boarding for pets who do well in a calm, indoor environment. I don’t have a fenced yard, but I make sure all outdoor time is safe, supervised, and on-leash. Your pet’s comfort and safety always come first.

About: I have been asked by many close friends or neighbors to take care of their dogs. I am experienced in working with all sizes, breeds, and personalities of dogs. I currently am a student at University of Mary and I have an evening job which takes up a good amount of my time, but I love animals and am in need of work, so I found this opportunity to be very fitting. I am mostly available earlier in the day (mornings/ afternoons) I ensure to respect others living space and make sure to carefully follow instructions that are left for me regarding others pets and their care.

We've now have had Bailee her our pets twice, and we couldn't be happier. She stayed in our home for four days while we were in the hospital with our child. It was such a stressful time, and having someone we completely trusted caring for our pets and home gave us incredible peace of mind. She kept us updated with messages and photos, took wonderful care of our pets, and left our home just as we left it. It was clear our pets were happy, comfortable, and well loved while we were away. We are so thankful for her kindness, reliability, and professionalism. We wouldn't hesitate to book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring pet sitter!

Delaney is seriously THE BEST. She house sat for me while I was on a trip and I cannot say enough about her professionalism, prompt communication, and care for my dogs. A few had some unexpected accidents in the house; I was so impressed with how she calmly handled the situation, and also grateful for her diligence in making sure the dogs were okay and the house showed zero evidence of the mess. I would 1,000% request to book her for dog sitting again. Thank you Delaney!

Krista came to the rescue when our other house sitter cancelled at the last minute! Krista was quick to respond when I reached out on Rover and was very flexible when setting a time for a meet and greet. She was great about receiving and gathering all the necessary information at the meet and greet to prepare her and our pets for a successful stay. Krista sent messages and pictures during her stay and kept us informed of how things were going. Krista even made sure to take care of our pets working around her plans on New Year's Eve. She left our home very neat and our pets were very well taken care of! Remi soon warmed up to Krista and even played fetch with her. It was evident that she really cared for our pets. We would definitely have Krista stay again!

Rebecca was fantastic with our dog and I would highly recommend her to anyone needing a dog sitter! I’m always anxious leaving our dog when we go out of town, but I felt very comfortable leaving him with her. He got lots of exercise and attention. She kept us updated on everything going on and let us know when she left the house and when she’d be back. I’m very grateful that my dog could stay in his own home while we were gone and was well taken care of!

FAQs for House Sitting - Bismarck

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Bismarck on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 35 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Bismarck. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bismarck walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bismarck maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bismarck choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
