About: I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life. I’m truly the happiest when I’m hanging out with dogs, even if it’s just for a walk. I work part-time, usually during the day but I work remote so my schedule is occasionally flexible. Feel free to reach out about scheduling and I’ll do my best to make it work! I’m happy to walk your dogs at weird hours if that’s what you need. I have a fenced in yard with space for dogs to roam around. No crates in our house. At no time would your dog be left alone. I’ll be much more available in the evenings starting in Jan. 2022 due to school scheduling. That said, I’m happy to try and squeeze daytime bookings in, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your animals will always be top priority to me. Safety is also a high priority for me, so for that reason will no longer be accepting bookings unless you and everyone eligible in your house has received at least one Covid-19 vaccine. Thanks for understanding!

Lori is awesome. She watched our senior dog and our 2-year-old dog in our home for a week-long trip. She communicated very well and sent tons of pictures. She gave medications to our senior dog (who requires a lot of patience) and kept our younger dog well exercised. When our flight home got delayed, Lori was super understanding and flexible during the uncertainty. Our house was spotless when we got home. Lori is a true professional and we'd recommend her without hesitation. Thank you, Lori, for giving us peace of mind while we were away.

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember. Walking, feeding, and bathing both dogs and cats. I consider my pets family members! All of my babies are rescues. I have trained my dog through the GoodPup app and he knows the commands sit, stay, lay down, up, paw, leave it, heal, touch, and find it. All my pets are given enrichment activities throughout the day. They’re also stimulated with play/exercise. I know dog and cat body language. I have worked with dogs that have seizure disorders and know how to administer medication to both cats and dogs. I’m work Monday to Friday with my weekends free and open. My work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. I can take dogs for long walks, stimulate them through play, or with enrichment activities. I can administer medication if needed. For cats I can clean the litter box and stimulate them through play or enrichment activities. I can administer medication if needed. Pet safety is my first priority. I believe knowing pet body language is so important because that’s how they communicate their needs. I will care for your love ones as if they were my own! I will follow your schedule and instructions exactly as is because, you know your pet best! I can bath, walk, feed, administer medication, and give my full attention to your babies ☺️

Hayley is AMAZING!! One of my cats is very social and the other is shy. She got BOTH of them playing, brushed them, and made sure they knew they were loved on top of the bare minimum of feeding them and giving my old lady her meds. She even checked to make sure my hamster was still breathing while I was away since it was always during my hamster’s sleep time that she was there. Highly recommend. Will be using again if I ever am going away and she is available

We have an elderly and blind jack russel terrior who has a bit of an attitude and can be reluctant to get out and about but needs it. After meeting Bree I felt assured that she would do a great job taking care of our dog and the house. I was not disappointed. She sent me text updates and pictures which reassured me while I was away and asked questions as necessary. Most importantly, my dog was happy and content in the photos and when we got home. I will be a repeat customer.

About: Our family dog just moved out with my daughter, so my grandpuppy 😂. Thankfully he comes to stay regularly for extended visits! Most of my photos are of him, truly spoiled & loved. I’ve cared for animals most of my life. I’m available for walking, boarding, or checking in daily while you’re at work to feed or let out. Flexible availability, reliable and kind. I have very flexible availability for boarding, house sitting and checking in and walking. I only work 15-20 hours a week, so I’m home most of the time! Let me know your needs and I’m sure we can work something out that’s best for your pets needs. I have a smoke free, very tidy home. I live in a townhouse that is surrounded by woods and has close proximity to walking trails. You can provide a crate if needed for boarding. I will welcome gentle, people-friendly dogs, who are house & potty trained only. No overly dirty or muddy dogs please! Thanks for your understanding.

About: I have Joyfully shared my entire life with pets for 70 years now!! I speak Fluent Feline and Canine and have been a pet parent to dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, turtles and fish as a child and provided daycare for birds. I am also a Certified Level ll Reiki Energy Practitioner. My services include Housesitting, Drop-ins and both dog and cat walking! My beloved Josie used to love going outside on a harness and leash since she and brother Shadow were feral-born barn kitties and then “indoor only” rescue pets for 15+ years! My “Platinum Spa” Services include pet massage and Reiki sessions for an additional fee for Housesitting and Drop In clients. My Passion to care for other people’s pets as a new career/business stems from the tragic loss of both my feline companions at the end of 2024. I have decided to no longer own pets myself and to get my “Pet Love Fixes” by Pampering My Client’s pets as if they were my own!! I have maximum flexibility with scheduling 24/7 for all services in the 5 Colleges Area of Western MA. I am also available to travel outside my local area to provide pet, plant and housesitting services upon request. I provide a full menu of services at client’s homes including multiple walks daily on leash, outings to local dog parks and hiking trails, specialized diets and medications, senior and disabled pet care, active playtime, basic training reinforcement, photos and text updates on how your pet is doing with each visit. My schedule is very pet-care friendly, and I’m used to building my daily routine around animals’ needs. I’m experienced with feeding schedules, walks, medications, playtime, enrichment, and monitoring animal behavior and health. With my veterinary background, I’m comfortable handling medications, senior pets, anxious animals, and pets with special needs. I prioritize safety, cleanliness, and creating a calm environment where pets feel secure and cared for.

FAQs for House Sitting - Bernardston

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 458 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Bernardston. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bernardston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bernardston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bernardston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Bernardston. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
