About: We are currently shelter volunteers and have fostered numerous cats, kittens and puppies. We enjoy dogs of all shapes and sizes and of course a happy temperament is always appreciated. We're privately insured through Pet Care Insurance (PCI). Where will your dog spend their time while you are away? Depends. Are they 5 lbs or 105 lbs? Active doodle or senior Basset Hound? Let's look at ways to keep your pup feeling comfortable and secure while ensuring they receive the physical exercise and mental stimulation they need. Dogs go outside every few hours, throughout the day, for a bathroom/exercise break. Some dogs enjoy staying outside playing with toys until they are exhausted while others want to take a quick break and head back indoors. Each dog is different (especially with their owner away) and it may take some experimentation to see what activities your pup enjoys. We have two large dog enclosures (6 foot fencing) that work great for playing with toys and exercising. We also have several wooded acres to sniff and explore on longline. Large/active dogs usually sleep in a dog proof room with AC, cable tv, security system and cameras. For crate trained dogs, pet parents just bring their crate for the dog room. Crates help pups feel secure and can minimize barking. Having a separate dog space (with easy to clean flooring) is especially helpful for puppies, dogs in heat and seniors. Dog rooms work well for reactive dogs too as they have their own private space. We are privately insured through Pet Care Insurance (PCI).
