I am a bit of a nervous dog mom when it comes to leaving my fur babies with anyone...Understatement...my pups are needy and full of character. Jess was AMAZING! She was so sensitive to what each dog needed. She communicated with me when necessary in a thoughtful manner. I have total confidence leaving my fur babies with her again!

About: I have babysat: 1) a medium sized 50 lb hound mix dog for a month at a time every year for 13 years (over the course of its life time from when she was a puppy to death) whose personality was very energetic and anxious. It needed a lot of exercise everyday, stimulated play, and long walks which I happily enjoyed! But she also needed to be watched carefully to ensure she didn’t scare anybody by playfully jumping on them. She would tug a lot during walks and would get excited seeing other dogs but I’ve always managed to calmly steer her away if aggression showed or if the other person or dog she was meeting showed signs of being uncomfortable. This dog always stayed at my place when I babysat her. Made sure she was fed on time twice a day and provided fresh water everyday. 2) two cats at a month at a time for the past 5 years. Stayed at the owner’s place every time. Had to be fed at certain times twice a day, gave them treats throughout the day and attention whenever they requested it. Sometimes I would initiate the contact but if the cats weren’t feeling it, they would communicate it and I would stop. They were indoor cats so I also made sure that any windows that were open were secure and they couldn’t slip through. Had no issues of escaped cats. 3) an energetic 8 year old pomsky and an 18 yr old cat for 10 days. House-sat the owner’s place the entire time where I had to walk the dog 4 times every day at a set schedule and feed them both & provide medication to the cat at set times. The Pomsky was very energetic so also took the time during the afternoon to play with her when she had the zoomies. And have the cat tummy rubs and butt scratches whenever she requested it. 4) a large 50 lb, 2 year old, Old English Sheepdog (named Cura). House-sat & dog-sat Cura for 10 days in Los Angeles, CA. Highly energetic who needed a lot of exercise everyday. Very obedient and could be taken off leash. But I always establish a level of trust and learn the dog’s mannerisms before taking them off leash in the park or around the apartment/house block. Cura also had a tendency to be scared of aggressive dogs or loud noises so I always maintained a level of reassurance and safety with her. Also had to be aware of the high temperatures in LA (given the summer time), hence I’d walk her early in the morning and late at night. 5) a 5 yr old, 25 lb, hound whippet mixed dog named Phoebe - house sat and babysat her for 12 days. Highly anxious who needed to be administered an anxiety pill every morning and needed constant attention and long walks. 6) Cats - 3 different cats from 3 different owners in San Francisco (Uno, Missy Elliot, and Fran). Took the time to get to know each of them and played with them / gave them company while cleaning out their litter box, refreshing their water bowls, and making sure they had food. Also planned my schedule so that I could travel between the places efficiently and was in communication with the owners at all times and they knew about my schedule. 7) A small 5 year old mixed poodle (named Cappy) in San Francisco who loved to cuddle! Took him out for walks twice a day, made sure he had food & water, and kept him company for 10 days while house-sitting. 8) 2 cats (Jackie & Cannoli) in New York for 18 days, plus house-sat. One was affectionate and loved to cuddle all the time, the other was more cautious and was very talkative. 9) Hamsters - babysat them for a week at a time for friends whenever they went out of town. Fed and cleaned the box. Would occasionally bring it out of its cage to let it roam around the room in its ball. 10) I have my own pet - a red eared slider turtle who I claim to be my aquatic dog 😉. He is 18 years old and I got him when he was just the size of a quarter. But he gets excited to see me whenever I enter the room and will follow me in the apartment when I let him out to walk around. He can also recognize me out of a group of people! 11) I have a ton of plants that I have grown in the past 6 years - huge monstera (from a 1 foot baby to now a 7 ft giant with 30 inch wide leaves), verraccusum, constellation monstera, cacti, pothos, glorosium, etc. I’m currently unemployed (taking a hiatus from being an accountant in the corporate world) so I have all the time to take care of your pet(s). Available anytime to feed, walk, play, and assist in providing medication. I have a pet turtle that I’ve had for 18 years that I have by a sunny window. But every other day, I’ll let him out in the apartment to walk around and explore (but he will often just follow me around😊). I currently live in an apartment that doesn’t allow dogs or cats so over the last few years, I’ve always taken care of pets at the owner’s place. Either living at their place or coming to their place at set times to feed and/or walk their pets.

Sara took wonderful care of Charlie and I would certainly leave him with her again. Even though he can be shy, Charlie took to Sara the first time he met her which put me right at ease. It was easy to communicate with her and it was so nice to receive pictures of them together. When I returned it was obvious that Charlie was well taken care of and that my condo was left as clean and neat as I left it!!

About: Hi, my name is Meghan! I have loved animals my entire life and have always been the person who stops to say hello to every dog, cat, and animal I meet (while always respecting their boundaries). My love for animals started as a child when I spent my school years reading every animal book I could find and watching every animal movie and documentary I could. That lifelong passion has grown into a career caring for pets and learning what makes each animal unique. I have over 4 years of professional animal care experience, beginning in dog daycare in 2022 and currently working as a Veterinary Assistant in an emergency veterinary setting. Through my experience, I have cared for dogs and cats of many ages, breeds, personalities, and needs from playful puppies and kittens to adult pets and senior companions. At home, I care for my own pets, including Thor, my 12 year old Chihuahua mix, Xena, my 8 year old Lab/Hound mix, and Sage, my 11 year old cat. Caring for my own pets has taught me the importance of patience, routine, understanding body language, and recognizing that every animal communicates differently. My experience includes:
 • Puppy, kitten, adult, and senior pet care
 • Medication administration (oral medications, eye drops, and injections)
• Diabetic pet care and pets with medical needs
• Understanding animal body language and stress signals
• Providing enrichment, playtime, exercise, and individualized attention
• Helping pets feel safe and comfortable in their own environment I understand that pets are family, and leaving them with someone new can feel stressful. My goal is to give you peace of mind by treating your pets with the same love, patience, and care I give my own. Every pet has their own personality, routine, likes, dislikes, and comfort level. I take the time to learn what makes your pet happy and what helps them feel secure. You can expect clear communication, updates, and plenty of photos so you always know how your pet is doing while you are away. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles, enrichment, or simply relaxing in their favorite spot, I want them to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while they are with me. I am currently an online student, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to plan my day around the pets in my care. Whether I'm providing drop in visits, dog walks, or house sitting, I make it a priority to follow your pet's normal routine as closely as possible. I always make sure pets receive the attention, exercise, companionship, and care they need while you're away. Your pet's safety, comfort, and well being are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet's routine, personality, and any special instructions before every booking. I follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, and exercise routines carefully while respecting your home and your pet's space. With my professional experience in dog daycare and as a Veterinary Assistant, I understand animal body language and recognize signs of stress or discomfort. I use positive, patient handling and never force interactions, allowing pets to become comfortable at their own pace. You can also expect regular updates and plenty of photos throughout each visit or stay, so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is happy, safe, and well cared for.

About: I’ve had cats since I was 8 years old. With the 16 years of experience with cats, I believe every fur baby needs a home away from home. Like with every pet parent, I strive for the best with my cat. If you choose me to watch your fur baby, I will provide the best and safest environment for them. Do they need a room to themselves? You got it. Has explosive diarrhea? I have cleaning supplies. Medical issues? Another way to keep me on my toes. I hope you consider me as a prospective aunt to your kitter cat or doggo and can’t wait to fill up my camera role with adorable pictures. I look forward to hearing from you 💕 I am a grad student at Brandeis University. My classes are usually over by 2 pm, so after then I’m usually at my apartment caring for my cat and completing schoolwork. So needless to say, I have a lot of flexibility within my schedule for your pets individual needs. If I am doing home visits, I would like to visit the clients home a day or two prior to the arranged visit(s) to understand the animals needs and to see if we would be a good fit. I believe it is important to establish an understanding with the animal in question before I frequent the premises so there isn’t any unnecessary stress for your pet. In regards to boarding, I have a medium sized apartment that would be good for any cat or small-medium dog. There are multiple grassy areas for bathroom breaks and walks around the premises. You will have to provide me with your animals usual schedule (times for bathroom breaks, when and how much time are committed to walks, feeding times, etc.) so I can build my set around them and their needs

I also appreciated that she stripped the bed and started the washing machine with her sheets and towels before we came home. She was understanding when, after the wedding, I was delayed and my brother and his wife arrived back at the house before me. Nicole was punctual, reliable, and clearly has a natural way with dogs. Our pup instantly warmed up to her, and it was clear they were in great hands the whole time. She went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, and we came home to a happy, relaxed dog. It was such a relief knowing our pet was being cared for by someone so friendly, professional, and genuinely caring. We’d absolutely book with Nicole again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and kind sitter

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Auburndale on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 6,813 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Auburndale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Auburndale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Auburndale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Auburndale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
