“Amber we so amazing with not only our dogs but our house too. She went above and beyond to make sure things ran smoothly at home when we weren’t there. She unclogged the robot vacuum multiple times, brought in packages, cleaned up puppy accidents and also helped us with a roof leak that was happening.mu dogs are a little afraid of new people but they warmed right up to her and were excited to see her when she came. I would recommend Amber to anyone ☺️”

“First time booking with Katherine and will absolutely book again! She communicates wonderfully, included great pics and took excellent care of our babies! Highly recommend.”

“Haley was extremely helpful for me while I was gone for a few days. She did a great job with my dog, Zoe. Even though Zoe can be a bit reactive and high energy, Haley handled her perfectly!”

“Abby was so great! She was very attentive, asked questions to get to know my dog before heading out of town. She took such good care of her & updated me each drop in. Highly Recommend Abby & will be hiring her in the future!”

“Kimberly is simply the best. Our fur baby is not a fan of thunder and lightning and while she watched him over the weekend she comforted him and kept him calm during a storm. This just goes to show how much she loves what she does and how she treats our fur baby as her own.”

“Lori was great with taking care of our 5 cats while we were gone! Even the shier ones warmed up to her with some time. She gave us regular updates and was flexible with any requests we had. Our kitties seemed happy when we returned!”

“Jonathan was willing to help me out super last minute to give my Gargy a good long walk when I got called into work. He let me know when he was on the way, walking him, and heading out and left a few pictures as well! I will definitely be keeping him in mind in the future :)”

About: I have a 1 year old golden doodle and her name is Hatti. Dogs and cats always love my energy around them because they can sense it. Different dogs/cats have different levels of need for food/attention/affection. I pay close attention to their behavior and mental status and make sure they are well taken care of. I’m a master’s student. My classes are mostly on Wednesdays this semester. I have plenty of time to take care of the cute little angles. My dog is a well-trained spoiled high-maintenance girl. She has to have me be there when I feed her and she makes sure I have the leash in my hand when we walk. I love that she likes my attention and affection so much.
“This was my first time using a sitter who wasn't family for my cat, and as an anxious cat mom, I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Jessica was exceptional with my cat's anxiety medication, followed all of her care instructions, and kept me updated throughout my trip. My cat is usually very shy and hesitant around new people, so seeing her come out, play, and feel completely comfortable with Jessica really speaks to how patient, gentle, and caring she is with animals. I wholeheartedly recommend her and will absolutely be using her again!”

“This is the second time I book with Lauren for pet sitting. She was great. Due to unforeseen events, I had to extend my stay outside the country, Lauren was very understanding and accommodating. I highly recommend her.”

About: I cared for my Chihuahua for 17 years, starting when I was 9, including administering medications and providing extra care as she got older. I have a special soft spot for small dogs, but I love bigger dogs too! I fostered a Pit Bull and loved her energy, as I’m very active myself and loved walking and exercising with her. I really miss having a dog of my own, so I'm happy to have the chance to spend time with other people's pets. As a graduate student at UF, I have a flexible schedule: Mon–Wed: Available after 12 PM (lunchtime walks and afternoon/evening care) Thurs: Available after 5 PM Fri–Sun: Open availability throughout the day I’m happy to take care of your pet at your home while you're away. I can drop by to check on your dog and take them for a walk, administer medications as I did with my senior dog, or stay overnight if you leave for a trip for a few days.

About: I handle pets in various conditions and ages in many settings such as animal shelters, animal control, and veterinary clinics! I’ll care for their physical or psychological needs from my experience working with dogs and cats! I’m currently trying to establish my services on a part-time basis. I’m available most weekends, and in the afternoon and evenings as on weekdays I am currently in veterinary school! I listen to what the pets need and work on their understanding. Whether that’s just being in space of one another’s, giving them their space, or giving them stimulations with walks, playing, or different enrichments!
About: I have had dogs most of my life that I helped take care. I ended up getting my own dog when I moved. I have my own place and love to have dogs stay while their parents are away. I work at Shands in the emergency room but have enough space for a safe pen when I’m away. I have a small dog park in my complex that I take my dogs to in the evening. I have 2 dogs that are friendly and enjoy making new friends. I also keep dogs separate when I am not home. We like to go to the dog park in the evenings when it’s not so hot

“We needed someone to administer our cat’s daily insulin injections while we were away and Katlyn was a great choice! She was thorough in her care, stayed while she ate, and sent us many photos of our fur baby. Would definitely rebook”

About: Grew up with two cats in Massachusetts and spent a lot of time taking care of dogs over the Summer in Alaska. Recently graduated with a Master's degree from UF. Currently living by myself and I have plenty of time and space to take care of animals. I can accommodate any time that is convenient for pet owners. Luckily I can make my own schedule since I work as a valet manager and sales manager. I make sure pets get plenty of attention and care. I take pride in ensuring the pets are safe, secure, and loved whenever I'm with them.
“Sam was amazing!! Came for an introduction before the house visits. Very good with her communication and kept us up to date with how our Kitties were while we were gone. 10/10 will book again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Arredondo
Anne-Katrin is amazing. We’ve used Rover for years and our sitter was always okay, but Katrin (Anne) was incredibly. Our cats loved her, she was punctual, caring and excellent with communication. We will use her only now. It’s nice to feel comfortable when your away and she made us comfortable. Also went out of her way to clean up the cats mess. An actual 5 star!!!!

Rong did a great job with our two cats! Rowan can be a bit spicy and she did a great job respecting his boundaries and giving him love. Arlo gets a twice daily inhaler which she did a great job at, and even included videos for peace of mind! She was very communicative, timely, and our cats were well taken care of. As a veterinarian, I am always nervous leaving my boys but felt very at ease with Rong taking care of them. I definitely recommend her and will be using her services again in the future!

Kimberly is simply the best. Our fur baby is not a fan of thunder and lightning and while she watched him over the weekend she comforted him and kept him calm during a storm. This just goes to show how much she loves what she does and how she treats our fur baby as her own.

Sarah took great care of my 3 kitties while I was away including giving medication to one of my babies. Everyone seemed content and stress free when I returned. I would definitely book with her again and would recommend Sarah to anyone nervous about leaving their medication needing kitties with a sitter. Thank you again Sarah!!

Evelynn was very kind when I met her during our meet and greet, and she did a wonderful job with my dog Zoe who can be quite reactive and a bit nervous at times. She was very communicative with me and followed all of my directions perfectly! Overall, she did an amazing job with both my animals!

Jillian was wonderful with our 5 kitties! She took the time to earn their trust, especially the shy ones. There were several occasions where she stayed longer to brush, pet, and play with them since we were gone for over a week. Our cats seemed happy and healthy when we returned. We'd definitely have her watch our kitties again and highly recommend her for anyone with multiple cats!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
