About: Hi! I’m Evan, and I’m a friendly, responsible, and dependable pet lover who genuinely enjoys spending time with animals. I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pets, and I’ll treat them like they’re my own. I’m attentive to their individual needs, whether that means walks, playtime, feeding, medication, or simply giving them some extra attention and companionship. I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can feel comfortable knowing your pet is happy and well cared for while you’re away! I am either at the gym or doing some side work, so my schedule is very flexible and I’m available most days. I’m happy to work with your schedule and would love to help whenever you need! I have had a dog in my family my entire life, had a dog for the last 5 years and have experience caring for dogs in an apartment, including on the top floor. I’m comfortable with dogs of all personalities and will always treat your pet like my own!

Rachel did a great job taking care of our dog, Sully! I get anxious about leaving him and this was the most relaxed I've been on a trip in a long time. She was timely and responsible, and really took in all of the Sully-information I gave her. (He has allergies and meds, so it was more info than your average dog.) She provided frequent updates and was able to get two rounds of exercise in, despite it being mid-July. Sully seemed really relaxed (and tuckered out!) when we returned and the house was in great shape. I would definitely hire Rachel again!

Megan was exceptionally patient and adaptable while we had a family wedding, with so many changes to the schedule. She responded quickly and took expert care of our very beloved fur babies. I highly recommend Megan and will absolutely trust her to take care of them again. It’s amazing to not have to worry at all😊

Bonnie is by far the best sitter we have ever had! She was so great with our boys and took extremely good care of them while we were away. She took the time to make sure they were loved and pampered, brushed them for us and even gave them adorable bandanas. She left our home cleaner then we left it and also took care of plants/brought packages inside. I would highly recommend her!! Thank you Bonnie!

About: When I was a little kid, my dream job was to be a veterinarian, so you can imagine my excitement when I got into the vet tech program right out of high school. Despite that, I quickly fell flat on my face and decided I couldn’t emotionally handle it. I’m undecided about schooling now, but I’ve never lost the love I have for animals or the desire to work with them in one way or another. I started working full-time at an animal hospital in the boarding & grooming wing for almost 6 years, and I do pet-sitting in my free time! Due to my experiences, I’ve been around all kinds of dogs and cats with all sorts of personalities, behaviors, medications, and disabilities; so I like to believe I can work around just about anything for your pet! Was on hiatus from Rover as I was doing enough pet-sitting locally for people, but I wanted to expand my clientele. Please reach out if interested! I’d love to become one of your pet’s contacts! <3 I left my last workplace due to poor management, so I’m between jobs at the moment meaning I have full availability for the time being! Before caring for your pet, I’d like to know their reactivity to things such as people, other dogs, and any other small animals they might pass on a walk (if applicable) so I know what to avoid to keep your pet’s stress levels down—and mine too! Any quirks you know about your pet as to what they like or dislike. I like to remind people that your pet & I will start as strangers. Please share everything you think I should know!

About: I love animals very much, so keeping company and entertaining pets brings me so much joy! I work in a doggy daycare, so I get to meet all sorts of dogs every day and am comfortable with dogs and/or cats of all breeds and sizes!! I am currently a full time college student who works on the weekends, but I am happy to stop in between classes, and hang out in the home for the remainder of my free time! I love keeping pets entertained, so playing inside and outside (if possible) is a regular! If outdoor time is limited or has restrictions, I can follow whatever instructions or restrictions that are put in place by the owner.

About: I’ve taken care of the dogs in the family for years, and still do with two pups of my own. I also work at a veterinary hospital as a vet tech I can tend to emergency situations, post- op care, giving medication’s cleaning bowls regularly, noticing any issues and giving them lots of kisses! I’m comfortable with senior dogs and puppies, and used to foster! I’m also CPR certified! I work 12 hour shifts every other day, so I’m open to weekend stays, days after work and the entire next day, some holidays, vacations. On days I don’t work I can stop by often to play, go for a walk, hang inside/outside or go for a car ride! Depending on your home, I’m comfortable crating if necessary, separating multiple dogs for meals, keeping them calm after eating, not leaving them unattended with toys then can rip apart or anything they can get into, including anything I might have, (shoes, purse, keys). If we go for a walk I will ensure all equipment fits properly so we don’t have any issues.

Gabby gave us great peace of mind while we were gone for 4 days, the first time we had ever used Rover and left our dog with someone other than family! Our dog and house were well cared for and she gave great updates, often with perfect timing throughout the day when we were starting to wonder how he was doing. We have great confidence in reaching out to her for future trips!

FAQs for House Sitting - Anchor Bay Shores

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Anchor Bay Shores on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 1,543 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Anchor Bay Shores. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Anchor Bay Shores walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Anchor Bay Shores maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Anchor Bay Shores choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Anchor Bay Shores. On Rover:

  • 99% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
