“Adrienne was absolutely wonderful with Quincy! She was incredibly attentive during her overnight stay. As a Type A dog parent, I provided a very thorough Quincy care document with everything she needed to know about Quincy and our home. Adrienne did a fantastic job taking notes, asking thoughtful and detailed questions, and making sure Quincy was happy, comfortable, and well cared for throughout her stay. She was also very respectful of our home and took great care of everything while she was here. Although this stay was only one night, I couldn’t be more grateful to have found someone we feel comfortable trusting with Quincy. We’re already looking forward to her upcoming stays!”

“Tess is the best! One of our dogs is quite anxious. I could tell from the pictures that he was super comfortable with Tess. We received pictures and updates daily and knew they were in wonderful hands. To top everything, Tess was a super home sitter as well. Tess is genuine, reliable, considerate and a sweet and caring person. Six stars out of five!!”

“Jessica was great! She accepted our booking last minute and still made time to do a meet and greet prior to watching our dog. She was very communicative and prompt! Would definitely book her again!”

“Kaila was amazing!! She took care of my German Shepherd while I was away for the weekend. She kept me updated the whole time and I’m so grateful she took such a good care of my baby!”

“Rochelle was absolutely amazing with my pets! She cared for my dog Blu and my cat Sam like they were her own. From the moment she arrived, she kept in constant contact, sending me regular updates, adorable photos, and sweet videos that showed just how happy and relaxed they were. Blu looked so content on his walks, and Sam—who can be a bit particular—was clearly at ease. Rochelle’s attention to detail, warmth, and reliability gave me complete peace of mind. I came home to two very happy fur babies. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter who truly goes above and beyond.”

“Kaylie was great! We had her watch our dog over our wedding weekend. She was so responsive and helpful when we had forgot something from the house. She sent plenty of photos of our dog which we love to see!”

“Our sweet Gimli was happy with Marilyn! She was very responsive and reliable. She shared happy photos of our dog! I appreciated finding our home just as we left it! I would recommend Marilyn for watching your pets!”

“Best house sitter that there ever was!!! She washed and folded the laundry that she used (we didn’t ask her to), she helped out with Buddy, our Elf on the Shelf, and was great with communication.”

“Matt is wonderful to stay with our pup. We even noticed our husky was sad that he left after the last stay of almost 2 weeks. Sends updates, can replace bulbs, and is a supper kind animal person!”

“Hannah was fantastic! She stayed overnight to care for our dog Bailey. She was very friendly, caring and thorough. She came ahead of time to do a meet and greet with Bailey and provided us with updates throughout her stay. We will definitely be booking her again for any future needs.”

About: I’ve mainly taken care of my own, and close family cats and dogs, but in the recent year or two I’ve helped my friend who uses rover walk dogs. I currently have full availability, which allows me to accommodate last-minute bookings, recurring schedules, weekends, holidays, and extended stays. I'm flexible, dependable, and committed to providing reliable, attentive care whenever your pet needs me. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I live in a clean, pet-friendly apartment and maintain a calm, secure environment. My sister has a cat who is not comfortable around unfamiliar cats, so I am unable to host cats in my home. However, I am happy to provide care for dogs or care for cats in their own homes, where they can stay comfortable in a familiar environment. I will always follow your pet's routine, provide regular updates, and treat them with the same care and respect I would give my own.

“You know that feeling when you come home from vacation more tired than before you left? That was how I felt until I walked in my front door and saw a perfectly neat and clean house and two happy puppies. Thanks so much, Mo, for always being amazing!!”

“Maria is the best! She was so kind, accommodating to our specific needs, communicated very well, and loved my kitten as if he were her own. We are incredibly thankful to have found her and look forward to working with her again in the future.”

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life and absolutely love them. I’ve volunteered at an animal shelter since I was 10 where I specialized in puppies and adult dogs. I moved to Frederick recently and am looking to get my spend time with your dog until I get my own. Fun fact I also had guinea pigs growing up! I work from home and am usually available during the day to take care of your dog. I am available during the day, mornings, and evenings. I have experience with dogs with anxiety and medication needs. I have experience crating and potty training dogs as well. I did leash training with dog while I volunteered at the shelter.
“Kelly did a great job with my boys, stayed with them and they were not stressed at all! Sent pictures to keep me updated too. Appreciate her service, and she will be rebooked for sure!”
The median cost per night for house sitting in Akers Acres is $50
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Akers Acres
Our dogs love her and the house was left perfect after she left. One of our dogs is old and needs care every 4 hours or less and some pills. He is also deaf and uses sign language to communicate. She was able to handle all of this no problem. Booking her again for our next trip!

Tess was absolutely amazing! Very clear and consistent communication when needed and sent plenty of great photos keeping me updated while I was away. The house was returned in better condition than when I left. Will absolutely use Tess again in the future and will recommend her to anyone that needs a sitter!
Miranda is an angel!! She was so patient and kind with our reactive dog, Nessa. We’ve always been weary of hiring a dog sitter for Nessa and this was our first time. Miranda used several strategies to make Nessa feel comfortable. By the end, Nessa wanted lots of pets from Miranda. We are so thankful for her!

Jennifer is an absolute gem of a human and pet sitter. Shes the perfect amount of confident and calm which both I and my dogs picked up on and appreciated. My one pup is a bit anxious but by the end of the second day I had photos of both dogs loving their lives. Jennifer even road out terrible weather and put their safety first. We already have another trip booked and I cannot be happier that we have her here to help us!

We had a great experience with Leslie. She accommodated our booking last minute, which was incredibly helpful and took a lot of stress off our shoulders. She kept us updated throughout Olive’s stay with messages and photos. We really appreciated her responsiveness, flexibility, and the care she showed Olive. Would absolutely book with her again!

Took care of our dogs in our home. Responded quickly to the sitting request. Had great questions when she came to meet the dogs and bonded with the girls quickly. Communication with us while we were away was great and we came home to happy dogs. An excellent experience. In all ways. Definitely recommend Kate.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Akers Acres walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Akers Acres maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Akers Acres choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
