“Tracy took great care of our 3 Frenchies while we wetter on vacation. She was very responsive, sent pictures daily, sometimes multiple times. I was very confident after meeting Tracy that she had the compassion and experience to take good care of our pups. We will definitely be using her again.”

“Jennifer was amazing staying with both my dogs while I was out of town. This was the first time someone outside of family cared for them and it was such a great experience. She sends many updates and is super responsive and just great with animals overall. Also was great with the house sitting aspect. She cared for both the house and dogs during a snowstorm. (And even shoveled Highly recommend!”

“Thanks for taking care of my babies! I’m so glad to have someone that they were comfortable with so quickly. We appreciate that you were considerate of our home and so sweet with our girls.”

“Felt like I knew Isabel the moment she walked in the door for the meet and greet. Great communication, dogs loved her. I forgot to leave out one of the days of medicine for both dogs and she went and found it to give them. House was all clean when we got home. Hope for many more rebooks!”

“Adrienne was fantastic with our 3 pets for several days at our house! She communicated well and provided great photos daily. We can highly recommend Adrienne and plan to hire her again.”

“Rochelle was absolutely amazing with my pets! She cared for my dog Blu and my cat Sam like they were her own. From the moment she arrived, she kept in constant contact, sending me regular updates, adorable photos, and sweet videos that showed just how happy and relaxed they were. Blu looked so content on his walks, and Sam—who can be a bit particular—was clearly at ease. Rochelle’s attention to detail, warmth, and reliability gave me complete peace of mind. I came home to two very happy fur babies. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter who truly goes above and beyond.”

“Best house sitter that there ever was!!! She washed and folded the laundry that she used (we didn’t ask her to), she helped out with Buddy, our Elf on the Shelf, and was great with communication.”

“Tess is clearly great with animals. Our pup was happy when we got back, a clear sign she was in good hands. Highly recommend Tess to any pet parent looking for someone dependable and caring.”

“Noa was great! I’m usually pretty skeptical about leaving my dog with anyone. I found Noa on Rover and it was the right fit. I was gone for over a week and had her house sit as my dog doesn’t like new surroundings. He was not only well taken care of, but I received updates and pictures. She was very responsive with any questions I had while I was away. I came home to a happy dog and a clean apartment. I would definitely book her again!!”

“Kaila was amazing!! She took care of my German Shepherd while I was away for the weekend. She kept me updated the whole time and I’m so grateful she took such a good care of my baby!”

About: Hello and thanks for reading my profile! I’ve been caring for dogs of all sizes and personalities since I was a little girl, from energetic puppies to senior dogs. Currently, I have a Great Dane of my own (his name is Saint) and regularly babysit three wonderful dogs (two goofy Mastiffs and one sassy little Basset Hound. l’m comfortable with everything from high-energy playtime to gentle senior care, and I treat every pet like family. I currently work 7:30am - 4pm on the weekdays. My office is pet friendly, so I can bring your dog to work with me if you need me during the week. Otherwise I can be available for evenings during the week. My weekends are usually completely free though! I make sure all pets are comfortable, well fed and get play time in. Dogs aren’t meant to be idle all day, and as an active person I love to walk dogs and have some playtime in the backyard. My pets and my client’s pets always get spoiled rotten with cuddles and kisses. <3
“Maria was so great with our dogs! She kept our house tidy, was on time, and was super flexible when our plans changed! We booked her last minute and I am so grateful she helped us out! Will definitely be using her again!”

About: Hello, my name is Danielle. I used work as a veterinary technician and I am looking to drop in pet sit and walk pets on my off time. I personally have 3 dogs and 4 cats so I am very much used to taking care of pets on a daily basis. I am also experienced in pet first aid and dog/cat CPR experienced. I can also watch small caged animals in my home. I have experience with some exotics and small 'pocket' pets. Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you! In the mornings I make sure all of my pets are taken care of then after my kids are off to school I am available to come check in on your fur babies! I always make sure doors are shut and fences are secure for outside time. I always make sure leashes fit snuggly to reduce the risk of a leash slip.
About: I have cared for pets of my own since I was 7 years old. Dogs mostly, but also cats, birds, turtles, rabbits, and fish. Now I am a mature, reliable professional who loves pets as much as ever, but unfortunately my living situation is not ideal to have my own right now. I look forward to connecting with folks who need an assist in caring for their animals and loving them as if they were my own. My schedule is somewhat flexible with plenty of early morning and afternoon availability, as well as evenings opening up at 9 or 10 pm. This is true 7 days a week with 2 rotating days off each week. I typically have one 3-day weekend available each month. My place is not conducive to have your pets stay. But I am happy to come to you, whether for a walk, a feeding, playtime, some combination of all of the above. I also welcome the opportunity to stay over in your home if the need arises and trust has been established.
“Jessica was awesome! Our dogs loved her and she really stepped in during a time of panic for us when we lost our original dog sitter 2 days before vacation. 5-star rating all around and we will definitely book with her again!”

“Our sweet Gimli was happy with Marilyn! She was very responsive and reliable. She shared happy photos of our dog! I appreciated finding our home just as we left it! I would recommend Marilyn for watching your pets!”

“Ashley did such an amazing job with our two pups Gotham and Nora! She was so sweet with them and extremely accommodating to my wife and I by even staying a little bit extra because of a hiccup in our schedule. I would fully recommend Ashley for any one of our friends with fur-babies.”

About: Animals have been a huge part of my life since I was young. I grew up caring for various pets, including fish, birds, and cats. During my studies in Turkey and while living with family, I cared for dogs and helped raise them hands on. I treat every pet with genuine love, patience, and attentiveness, making sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away. I have a very flexible schedule that allows me to be present and attentive. Whether it's feeding, playing, or regular check in, I can easily adapt my daily routine to fit your pet's exact needs, ensuring they receive constant care, love, and attention throughout the day Pet safety, comfort, and well being remain absolute top priorities. A calm, secure, and loving environment is provided by closely following specific instructions regarding feeding, routines, and daily care
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Woods
Taylor did a great job house sitting for us and our not so easy Boston Terrier and our bearded dragon! She put us at ease trusting that our pets would be in good hands. Our dog is reactive and she knew how to understand his needs. We are thankful to have found Taylor!

Our dogs love her and the house was left perfect after she left. One of our dogs is old and needs care every 4 hours or less and some pills. He is also deaf and uses sign language to communicate. She was able to handle all of this no problem. Booking her again for our next trip!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Woods walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Woods maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Woods choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
