“Julia & Dylan were so wonderful with our Chico bean! They were communicative, punctual, & so sweet to Chico. Photos were great & plenty , we’d absolutely use them again to care for our Chico bean :)”
“Candice is terrific! We can tell she loves dogs, is very experienced, careful and trustworthy. And our 8 month old pup loves her. Our dog is high energy yet is always tired out after walks with Candice, which is exactly what we need! I would highly recommend Canice to anyone looking for topnotch pet care.”

“Tara has been great with my senior dog, Boss. She is very kind, gentle, and patient with him. That is something I really appreciate since his health isn’t great and needs the care. I would definitely recommend her for your doggy needs!”

“Samantha was absolutely fantastic with our high-energy puppy, even on a rainy day!! She went above and beyond to take care of our dog, and our dog absolutely loved her as well! I would highly recommend!”

About: I've taken care of dogs since I was a child. I owned two Miniature Pinschers growing up and I adopted one Australian Shepherd mix that has special needs as an adult. I trained all of my dogs from the time they were puppies until they passed away as seniors. I also volunteered at the Humane Society of Westchester. I've always enjoyed being around animals since I was young and animals tend to feel the same way about me. Animals who are usually timid around strangers are comfortable around me right away and they seem to trust me right away. I feel like connecting with animals (dogs specifically) is a gift that I have. Being a sitter is a great way for me to use that gift in everyday life. I'm able to adapt to the normal routine of the pets that I'm sitting in order to make the process as smooth as possible. I don't have a lot of room in my studio apartment so I'm only able to watch either 1-2 small dogs or one medium sized dog. Large dogs are too big for my apartment. If I'm at a client's home, I'll change my schedule to meet the needs of the pet. I believe all animals are unique and all have different needs in order to thrive in the environment that they're in. I'm willing to meet those needs by building my schedule around the animals that I'm sitting.

“Erica was great! It was a huge help to have her walk our dog when we were in town for a wedding. She was accommodating with the scheduled time and we really appreciate the picture she sent! Would recommend without hesitation!”

About: I have taken care of animals for as long as I can remember. I grew up with cats, but most of my family had dogs, so I have always been around them. This love for animals also got me into the veterinary field, which I have 6 years experience in. I have years of experience walking, handling, and playing with dogs and now have the experience to give oral medications or injections if needed. I currently don’t have any dogs, but I do have 2 cats. During my day I always make sure I wake up early enough to feed them and clean the litter box. After coming home from work, I feed them dinner and spend some time brushing and playing with them. I then clean the litter box before going to bed and repeat the next day. In my home, I have installed screen doors on the entry doors to prevent my cats from escaping but so they also can see the outside activity. I have socket covers to prevent them from playing in it and make sure to cover all wires so they don’t think they are toys.
“Walfredo has been tremendous! He is reliable, responsive and our dog loves him. Walfredo keeps us informed of everything and is communicative ahead of time if there are any changes. I highly recommend Walfredo to anyone looking for dog walking and pet sitting services.”

About: I've owned and cared for animals my whole life, from cats and dogs to snakes and chinchillas. My fur babies are everything to me - I even have them forever tatted on me! My current English bulldog, Stella, is half-blind and all crazy. She is a protector and lover of my two girls, who have known and grown up with animals their whole lives. While a sweetheart, she remains separate from my boarded friends. I also enjoy volunteering at two of our local animal shelters and am raising a future veterinarian. I believe animals are the purest form of love and require nothing less in return. Whether my own or yours, you can trust that I'll care for them all the same ♥️ I'm available most days of the week and weekends. Pet care and motherhood are my full-time roles, and my daughter may often accompany me on my walks. My home has large yard and a separate family area where my boarded friends can have their own quiet, private space to hang out with me: hang on the couch, watch TV, or play outside. I have a large crate if needed and plenty of space.
“I can’t say enough wonderful things about Jacquelyn! She has gone above and beyond in caring for my elderly dog and cats, providing them with not just the essentials but genuine love and attention. From the very start, she has been incredibly kind, communicative, and dependable, always keeping me updated with messages and pictures that give me peace of mind. Caring for senior pets requires patience and extra effort, and Jacquelyn has shown both in abundance. Whether it’s taking extra time on walks, administering special care, or making sure my cats feel just as loved, she has exceeded all my expectations. It’s clear she truly cares about the well-being of the animals she looks after. I wholeheartedly recommend Jacquelyn.”

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
