“This was our first time having Emma house sit with our two pups. She was fantastic! Everything went smoothly and we loved that she spent time with them, not just dropping in and out. We already have her booked for another job.”

“Alyssa was great with our older dog and our younger dog for house sitting. She was flexible with our ever changing work/travel schedules. We look forward to working with her again.”
“Skylar was phenomenal. She was extremely communicative and I was able to travel knowing my dogs were in excellent hands. I cannot recommend her enough if you’re looking for a sitter!”

“Allison was absolutely wonderful! We felt so at ease with her watching the dogs and staying in our house and she was so flexible when an emergency came up and changed our trip dates. Absolutely cannot day enough good things about her!!”

“Emily was extremely professional, attentive, and caring with my cats while she house sat for me over the weekend during my trip to Maine. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing all four of my cats were accounted for, fed, and cared for, and I really appreciated the check-in photos and updates throughout the weekend. She let me know when they had breakfast, when she was heading out for the night, and kept their routine consistent while I was away. Emily was kind, friendly, and wonderful with my animals. I highly recommend her as a pet sitter — she did an amazing job!”

“Jennifer did a great job watching our dogs and cat (and bunny). Even with rough weather and power outages, the animals were in good hands. Thank you for keeping them healthy, happy and entertained.”

About: Hello! My name is Kaira! I’m currently a full time Veterinary assistant with over 6 years of veterinary experience and over 9 years of pet care experience. I have a 7 year old Pomeranian named Stitch who is my world so I understand that our pets play an important role in our lives. I’m currently working Monday- Friday with weekends free, however, my schedule can be flexible so I can potentially make some changes is needed to suit your pets care. I currently offer house visits/stays, drop ins and walks. I have a 7yo Pomeranian named Stitch who gets along with both cats and dogs. Stitch usually travels with me to work, but if your pet is not fond of other animals then I can make arrangements for him.

About: I’ve always enjoyed being around animals and being able to take care of them and get to know them. I had my first pet, a hamster (Snowflake) when I was about 8 years old and after him an old family friend gave me and my family her old dog Nula a beautiful little Yorkie and after her I had a Maltese named snowball for a while who was very sweet. Now I have two dogs, a Multipoo named Henry and Rhodesian Ridgeback named Okoye they are very playful and love getting to know new people and new dogs. I also have a love for cats and have cat sat a couple of times for my friends. I also enjoy walking so having a furry friend to walk along side me is always a joy! I am currently going to school part-time so I’ll have plenty of time to spend with your furry family members, pups and kitties alike. I am available for boarding on weekends and weekdays after 5pm. I have a fenced in yard and two dog friends to keep your dog or kitty company. I also have a gate inside my house so we can also keep them separate if they want some alone time from each other. If you would like for me to come sit for your fur babies at your home I also offer that service as well and will happily and diligently follow the rules and guidelines that pertain to your furry baby.
“Lindsey went above and beyond! This was our first rover experience and it was amazing! She sent plenty of updates to make us feel comfortable and was flexible with our flight cancellations which significantly helped us. We will definitely be using her again and would recommend her to anyone we know.”

“Had an overall positive experience with Noor. There was good communication and both dogs seemed very comfortable with her and well cared for during her stay in our home. I appreciated the pictures of the pups each day as I am very protective of them and it eased my mind to see them relaxed in their own environment.”

“Grateful for the care she provided and made sure our two crazies had love and attention while we were gone. Will definitely book Lindsey again if we get another chance to get away”

“Keeara was honestly so great and gave me all the reassurance I needed for my two pups. It’s always hard for me to leave my dogs in the care of somebody else because I’m so particular and very paranoid about it overall but I definitely trust her and wouldn’t hesitate to let her watch my dogs again which says a lot. Her communication was a 10/10 even when an emergency in her own family came up she still prioritized the care of my dogs as well. Thank you so much again!! So grateful for her care.”

“Ryan is my pup Shyla’s new best friend! Ryan provided lots of great photos and updates for the short stay at our home. He even took her for a hike on her favorite local trail. ? She is currently waiting on the porch now for his return.? Thanks for being there for us Ryan. You maintained her routine and helped to minimize her separation anxieties. I just might have to be away again soon now that I know who I can call on!”
“Alise is fantastic! She was able to settle 2 anxious rescues quickly with her calm demeanor even as a new member to the pack. She was very attentive and caring and gave plenty of updates on the well-being of our dogs in the midst of an unexpected medical issue. Thanks, Alise! Janet and Benny are eagerly awaiting their next sleep over.”

“Angela was very prompt, responsible, and communicative. I booked her a few weeks in advance, she came over once to meet my dog and get an idea of her routine. She then came back the day before my trip for a refresher. She took care of my dog exactly as we had discussed and sent regular pictures and updates while I was gone. My home was exactly as I left it when I got back. Would definitely use Angela again!”

“Jodie was AWESOME! She was very professional and a great communicator throughout the process. She also was our housesitter and left the house in great shape, very respectful! 5-Stars all the way. We will rebook Jodie for sure!”

We couldn't be happier. From the moment we met Linda, we felt completely at ease leaving both our dog and our home in her care. She was warm, professional, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. While we were away, Linda kept us updated with regular messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear our dog was not only well cared for, but truly happy and comfortable. She also took amazing care of our home—everything was spotless and orderly. It’s not easy to find someone you fully trust with both your pet and your home, but Linda exceeded all expectations. We feel so lucky to have found her and will absolutely be using her again.

As of August 2026, there are 8,845 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Yorktown. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Yorktown walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Yorktown maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Yorktown choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
