Once a month I have to work late & that’s sometimes been a struggle getting Fizz fed, pottied, and NOT left for more hours at home than I’d like to — Kristina & her family are truly a blessing! I so appreciate you keeping him later that day, feeding him on schedule, and picking up my happy, relaxed dog when I’m done — as well as the flexibility for not knowing exactly when I’ll be done!

Carley has been having a great time staying with Mark during the day for the last few weeks. She’s super happy to get dropped off and content and tired when I pick her up. Mark has taken excellent care of her and he is attentive to all her needs.

What a gift and a relief it was that Kimberly could help me out while I was traveling and needed to have my 13-year old dog cared for just for a few hours while I was attending an event. Kimberly allowed us to meet up ahead of time so we would be comfortable. The house is spotless, Kimberly warm and caring, Molly "helped" her in K's office, by napping and exploring. It's a special person that can make a traveling, older dog feel safe and comfortable...and her human, too. Thanks again, Kimberly!

About: I've taken care of the family dogs for as long as I've been conscious enough to and have further sat for family friends and other relatives. I have trained my own puppy (he's almost 3 now), have some experience with administering medication (oral and topical), and have looked after senior dogs in various stages of their old age. I have owned and cared for dogs of various sizes from tiny chihuahuas to larger than average rottweiler mixes and handled many different temperaments. I currently do not have a job, so I am able to spend as long as necessary with your pet. I am free all day on weekends for things like check ins or walks, but on most weekdays I can only do boarding. I have a fully fenced in yard and two friendly (medium to large) dogs to play with. I also have a large crate available if it is ever needed.

Annie had a great time with Britnni and all her fur babies and kids! Such a welcoming environment and lovely yard. Annie loves to run and play so having other doggies for her to play with was great! She came home tired and ready for a nap😊

A relative usually cares for Fido (our chihuahua mix) when we travel. When we and our relative travel at the same time, we needed another option for Fido’s care. That led me back to Rover where I’ve previously found excellent doggy caregivers. This time I was fortunate to find Beth who turned out to live nearby. She was clearly at ease with Fido at the meet and greet, and he was excited to see her when he was dropped off for doggy daycare. It wasn’t long after the drop off that I received a photo of him snuggled up on a soft blanket and being cuddled. I knew he was comfortable and in his zone at that point! It was reassuring to know I can leave Fido with Beth and not worry about him. That is worth a lot!

About: I am a stay at home mom who loves dogs. Your dog will have tons of attention from me, our outgoing dog friendly 4 year old shih tzu mix and my 2 kids. Daily walks and lots of fun always! 4 years dog sitting both in my own home and at clients. I am always home pandemic or not. My dog and yours too would be included in everything we do. Always an hour long morning walk sun, rain or snow, afternoon play in both garage and fenced yard. I also spend a lot of time on the floor playing fetch and snuggling with both my dog and kids. Wilson loves having another dog around to chase and play with. My dog was paralyzed in both back legs for about 6 months 2 years ago. We were able to rehab him but I am comfortable with disabled elderly or injured dogs. I am always home as a stay at home parent pandemic or not. Your dog will have human and dog interaction and attention all day everyday. My dog loves to play with big and small dogs. We walk for an hour daily and play at least twice outdoors in afternoon and before bed.

About: I'm kind towards all animals and I feel a deep sense of responsibility for those in my care. I currently have a small dog. Check the pictures here. I'm retired and available to watch a dog or two in my home. I would be able to give your dog my full attention for most of the day. The dogs I watch will be inside with me or if the weather is suitable in my fenced backyard. The yard is fairly small and well shaded.

Kimberly is so deserving of her 5 star rating and it's clear to me why she has so many repeat customers, as I will be in that category! She was kind enough to agree to watch my Maltese mix for the first time at the last minute. We just moved here and he's still a little skidish and needy. From the moment we dropped him off we knew he was going to be just fine. Kimberly is warm gives off a very kind energy. I checked on him while he was there and she got right back to me, which was very much appreciated. When I went to pick him up, he was calm and not stressed which is what I expected regardless of how great she was with him. I am beyond happy to have found our new pet sitter in Yakima, thank you Kimberly!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Yakima commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in WA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 54 sitters in Yakima, 97% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
