About: As a retired registered nurse, this lifelong passion now extends beyond the hospital and office to my furry friends. Between my own pets and foster pets, over the years, my spouse and I have cared for as many as 20 dogs and 5 cats (not at the same time!). I've adopted 2 dogs with special needs including a chihuahua with a seizure disorder that required daily anti-seizure medication and emergency PR valium and a terrier with kidney failure and anemia. I've taken care of puppies and seniors I've volunteered and support our local animal shelters, ASPCA & SPCA. Scaling back for retirement, we now have a two 5 pound Chihuahua mixes that we love to the moon and back! This Spring, we fostered 2 Chihuahuas from the local Animal Alliance and helped to find forever homes bringing true joy to many hearts. Now it's time to show my love and compassion for your pet! Newly retired, I have more time to love on my dogs. I wake up when I hear their first whimper or bark. I take them to my small fenced back yard for 1st potty. They play a bit while I make a cup of coffee. Then I make their breakfast. Making sure everyone is getting along and not stealing anyone's food. After eating we go out for second potty break. We play inside for a while then cuddle on the couch for AM news. Play time could mean a walk if needed or a game of fetch. When I'm away pet sitting your Pets, my spouse maintains our pet care routine. First and foremost I will make sure your dog is SAFE. Making sure they are not eating or chewing on the wrong things or running out an open door or gate. I will follow your instructions to maintain your dogs routine for feeding, elimination, exercise, play, cuddling, napping and sleeping. All animals enjoy routine, consistency and kindness and I will do my best to provide all this and more to for your pets while you are away.

“We hired Alyssa over Thanksgiving while we went out of the country for the holiday. We chose to have her stay at the house with Yuki because he’s a recent rescue and still a little anxious about his life. Alyssa stopped by a few days before our trip to meet our dog and make sure they were a good fit. They made fast friends and we booked her for the week. Alyssa kept in touch with us by sending texts and pictures throughout our trip to ensure us that Yuki was happy and thriving! Upon arriving home, we found the house in perfect order and she even washed the sheets and folded them up for us! She also wrote us a letter detailing the week and how Yuki did while she was watching him. I couldn’t recommend Alyssa enough! She was excellent with my (sometimes nervous) dog. I would definitely use her again in the future. Worth every penny!”

About: I'm 63 and you can call me Frank! I have had and loved dogs since I was a kid. Okay, mom and dad did most of the work back then, but from my teenage years on I've housebroken and helped raise three of my dad's chihuahua's, the last of which we adopted when he passed ten years ago. She is still with us, along with my daughter's dog who also lives with us now! Also, my son's chihuahua puppy visits every two weeks or so! We are all very diligent with getting them on schedules, fed, walked and played-with regularly. My dad's almost 14 year old chihuahua still plays with the puppy, that tell you something? My pictures show a couple shots of our dogs on vacation with us in Gettysburg- they've also been to Canada, Ocean City, NJ and Lake Glory in the past ten years! We lost the Sheltie, Bella, in January but she had a great life, also pictured! We also had a Tabby named Stanley for 16 years, so I'm cat-friendly too! Your pet will have a great time and be spoiled a bit, whether I'm stopping by for a short stay or sticking around for a while! Of course, your rules first, so just let me know what you need and I'll do the rest! I'm currently driving with Lyft, but really want to scale back the driving and use my flexible schedule constructively by making some of my favorite animals happy! We have a fully-fenced yard in which the dogs love to run, 1100 square feet inside and basically all doggies are treated like family! They are fed dog food only, and just a light treat or two during the day, also dog-related, not "people food" treats. Plain, boiled chicken is the only exception, with white rice if there's an upset belly!. They are bathed monthly in the summer, and brushed randomly, though my daughter's dog has very short hair. I have also stayed at the homes of several individuals to care for their pets, a few of whom should be submitting testimonials shortly, if they haven't already!

“Wendy watched our shepherd mix, Dakota, while we were abroad for 8 nights. Prior to our trip, Dakota got diagnosed with an illness that required twice a day antibiotics to be given. Wendy made me feel at ease that this would be no problem. I received many updates and knew that Dakota was being very well cared for! Wendy is very thoughtful and kind. She has a very sweet manner with dogs. On a windy day she double checked that Dakota’s outdoor fence had no damage. I greatly appreciate Wendy’s care for my girl!”

About: I grew up with a chihuahua who was part of our family for 11 years, and I currently help care for our 4-year-old rescued Australian shepherd/pit bull mix. I especially enjoy going on walks and getting to know each dog’s personality while hanging out. I graduated from UW–Madison in May and am currently in my gap year before starting medical school. While I’m applying for a gap year job, my schedule is pretty flexible on both weekdays and weekends right now! I have a fenced yard and a very friendly dog who loves having company. “Brian is an exceptional human being with tremendous integrity. We went away for two weeks and left him in charge of our home, our acreage, and our lively young cat. He was simply amazing in every way you wish a house sitter or a pet sitter could be. The phrase “above and beyond” came to our minds over and over while we were on our vacation. Our cat bonded with him deeply. In fact, she walked around the house crying for him in the evenings when we first returned home. She couldn’t figure out where her play buddy went. Brian was a fantastic communicator – – sharing all the ordinary goings-on‘s with the house and our cat, including cute photos and video clips. But he also really stepped up when a harder moment came. A powerful wind storm came through the area while we were away, and Brian did an outstanding job of prepping for a possible power outage— which did not end up happening. He also did a great job of communicating with us about any possible house or tree damage— which luckily also did not happen. What we appreciated most about Brian was his calm, warm, caring, and very-capable demeanor. We feel very blessed to have gotten to know him, and we plan to have him watch over our home and pets for years to come.”
