“Our Kai came home happy and tired! Kai loved the big fenced yard, it is the perfect space to run and play! When we dropped Kai off, he had a blast playing with Dan's dog, who is very sweet! Dan took great care of Kai and was friendly and communicative.”

About: Lifelong experience caring for dogs, cats and a horse and studying psychology in college. I believe quality time for bonding, play and affection is just as important as food/potty breaks for pet happiness. The best part of pet sitting is the quality time spent with your pet after all the business is done! I have a flexible schedule so I'm able to make most times work. I can walk, feed, water, scrub bowls, medicate (comfortable administering oral meds to dogs and cats), clean up as needed, play with and generally whatever is needed to keep your pet on a regular schedule. We have 2 friendly smaller dogs and a dog door & ramp straight out to the fenced backyard. The house is one level with only 1 step in and out. There are crates set up in multiple locations and there are ways to separate animals safely if ever needed. Someone is home all day every day, pets are never kept without heat or AC.
About: I have a long, sturdy fence that offers total peace of mind. Whether it's a puppy with zero recall or a senior who gets disoriented, they can enjoy the fresh air safely and off-leash under my constant supervision. I am happy to reinforce your consistency with house-training and basic manners. As a dedicated dog lover, pet care isn't a side task it’s my daily rhythm. I work from home, meaning your dog has constant companionship and immediate access to my secure, long-fenced yard for frequent "zoomies" or sunbathing. My long, secure fence is the backbone of my safety protocol. It allows for off-leash "zoomies" and exploration without the risk of bolting. I never leave dogs unattended in the yard; I am always out there with them.
About: What sets me apart is the genuine compassionate care I bring to ensuring your pet feels completely safe, loved, and understood while you are away. I focus on creating a gentle, stress-free environment tailored entirely to your furry friends’ comforting daily routines. Beyond dogs and cats, I have specialized experience with the delicate needs of small animals like rabbits, and would be more than happy to care for pets of any size! I am a recent GW grad and I have a very flexible schedule. Aside from doing occasional tutoring sessions throughout the week, I am home for the majority of the day and have the time to dedicate myself to taking care of your furry friend! When caring for pets in their own space, my primary goal is to maintain their established routine exactly as they know it to minimize anxiety. When a pet stays with me, they are welcomed into a structured, highly supervised, and pet-safe environment designed to feel like a second home. I love all animals and want to make them feel safe in any environment!
About: Hi my name is Fran. I’m a mostly stay at home Mom in Mt. Airy with a 3 year old and 6 year old and 1 year old. We live on 5 acres, all fenced, across from the state park and in addition to 2 dogs have horses, chickens, and an outside cat. Both me and my husband have owned dogs all our lives, and experienced in animal care. Professionally, I’ve worked as a barn manager, dog groomer, dog walker, trainer, and dog handler for an Iditarod musher! I’ve been pet sitting since I was 10 years old and absolutely love it!!!! I care greatly about dogs and make sure that they are well taken care of with plenty of love and exercise. Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover all of my life. As a little kid my childhood dog was my constant companion and when I wasn't with him I was with the neighbors' dogs. In my twenties I moved to Alaska where I pursued a career in dog mushing and for two years lived with 120 dogs! Unfortunately due to frostbite I had to move back to the east coast. Meet my pets I have 2 dogs, Cash a one year old Australian Shepherd and Littles a 15 year old Boston terrier mix. Both love to play!! Cash is still a puppy and will play all day long!! He loves every dog he meets. Littles is 15 and recently lost his sight He’ll try to keep up with Cash but mostly just loves to sleep. I also have 2 horses, Shadow and Dandy (the love of my life) in their late twenties, some chickens, and a barn cat. About my yard I live on five acres across from Patuxent State Park. We have a huge fenced in backyard, with lots of trails in walking distance! My experience administering medication Yes I have no problem administering medication. Including injections I’m currently a stay at home mom and almost always home so your dog will never be left alone for long periods of time!! My 5 year old is great with dogs and will give your animals plenty of love and attention!!! We have a large fenced in backyard with plenty of room to run! Your dog will be let out frequently and get plenty of exercise!! I try and take the dogs for a long walk at least once a day. Your dog will have free roam of the house, but we are more than happy to crate if you provide one. Our dogs eat in the am and pm, however we can accommodate your dogs feeding schedule.
“We were so lucky to have Ellen watch our dog, Ziva! She has separation anxiety, and we were nervous about leaving her with someone new in a new environment. Ellen was so reassuring from the start, promising to take good care of her. And she absolutely did. Her sweet dog, Cleopatra, was so friendly and helped Ziva feel comfortable right away. Our first impression was unforgettable- Ziva followed Ellen, which is rare for her with someone she doesn’t know. Ellen took extra care to comfort Ziva when she was anxious and sent us picture updates that really put our minds at ease. Because of Ellen, we were able to enjoy our event without constantly checking our phones. This was such a relief, especially since we’ve had a bad experience with a previous sitter who never sent updates. Ellen went above and beyond, and we could truly feel the difference in Ziva’s comfort. We will definitely be using her services again. Thank you, Ellen, for caring for Ziva like she was your own!”

“Katherine is really a sweet person, she treated my Pudge as her own, it was my dog first time in a daycare away from us and he is not a easy dog. She communicated and kept us updated on how my dog was doing and tried her best to make him feel at home. I will be booking her again in the future ?”

About: I have experience caring for dogs, cats, and small pets, including feeding, walks, playtime. I treat every pet like family and always keep owners updated with photos and messages. I can do pet sitting in the mornings, lunch time, evenings and weekends to fit your busy schedule and provide loving care to cats, dogs and reptiles I am working from home, have fenced yard, small friendly dog and kids that love animals, if you prefer me to host your pet. About: We have owned at least 2 dogs at any given time for the past 30 years and truly believe no home is complete without at least 4 paws. Our family currently has 3 dogs, with plenty of room for furry friend visitors in our 4500 square foot house and acre-and-a-half fenced in yard. I am a stay-at-home mom and my husband works from home so we are around the house at the beck and call of our dog guests 24/7. Our children have grown up with dogs of all kinds (we currently have a giant 3-year old male Great Pyrenees, a 14-year old mostly deaf female Bichon Frise, and a tiny 4 year old female chihuahua mix, who together have taught our kids how to be respectful and conscious of animals in all walks of life). That being said, for the safety of our household, we can only board dogs who are family-friendly. We are homebodies who enjoy staying in, so we are around and available nearly 24/7/365. We already care for our 3 dogs around-the-clock and would be honored to be trusted to add your dog to the mix as well. We have a fenced in yard to let dogs in and out on demand (which is already constant here anyway) and a laid back routine that can easily accommodate whatever else your pet might need. Our dogs are family members, and yours would be too for their entire stay with us. Never left alone and spoiled with attention, there isn’t a care in the world once they set foot in the door — fed, watered, walked, exercised, loved, and played with! Direct access from the house to the fenced-in backyard makes potty breaks a breeze and fresh air an easy bonus throughout the day.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Woodville Meadows commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
