“Wow! Such a great experience with Jill and Eric. They took such great care of my cat. Sent multiple pics and gave the best commentary! Arrived promptly for each visit. Really great people. Thanks so much. We will definitely use them again!”

“Isabella did a very nice job. What I appreciate most is when someone takes the time to pet and play with my guys, which is not an easy task given how shy they are, but she took the time and effort to put on cat TV, play with a laser and help them warm up to her. She also left detailed notes, which is always nice. I am very pleased with her work:)”

About: I have had dogs, fish, and rodents all my life. I volunteered at the Asheville Humane Society early into my teenage years. My previous job was at a dog daycare, which I worked at for one year. After I left that job I began working as a pet bather at a grooming salon. I recently left that job as I wanted to go back to school, and now started volunteering for the Asheville Humane Society again. I have pet sat for dogs, cats, guinea pigs, mice, fish, rabbits, pretty much anything. I am happy do feed, walk, play with, or just snuggle with any critter you might have! Beginning in August I will be in school and will not be able to do any services until 1:00 or later on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I also go to church Sunday mornings and also cannot do any services before 1:00. However I do not have a job at the moment so other than those two things my schedule is pretty open! *Because of school if you are wanting to book me for house sitting longer than two nights you MUST have WiFi* I am more than happy to provide any service you would like me to do for your fur baby in your home. I do not mind long walks/hikes, preparing complicated meals, playing, whatever you need. I never raise my voice or get physical with animals. I will care for them with love and care!

Please, communicate with me if your plans have changed in a timely manner and I will do the same. Failure of communications prevents other fur parents to reach out to me regarding care for their fur babies for those dates. I have spent 17 years taking care of all kinds of doggies and kitties. Before becoming an Independent contractor on Rovers platform I would care for coworkers and friends pets in their home during their vacations or business trips. I have established trust with many people. I Love these fur babies like my own. Enjoy building this bond with them that lasts a lifetime. I will only sit in your fur babies home where they are in their element and feel most comfortable. This also means that you get a house sitter caring for your home as well. I like to make sure that I leave the space as clean or cleaner than when I arrived . This means that I will be cleaning up after myself and the fur babies when I am there. I love being active and will provide your fur baby with the necessary mental and physical stimulation they needs. I will take care of your fur babies and your home like my own. I am currently only available for overnight stays from 5:00pm- 7:30am during the weekdays and am available for an extended time frame on the weekends and holidays for an extended rate fee. About: Hello! I’m Sam, an entrepreneur, artist, animal lover, traveler, and mom to Benny, the sweetest 11-year-old ever. We love to explore new places, but we firmly believe that life is better with furry friends, so house-sitting has become a perfect fit for us! Sometimes we come as a house-sitting team and sometimes (while he is with his dad), I travel solo. For drop-in visits and dog-walks, I typically come solo, but I will always communicate this ahead of time if that changes! I was raised with German Shepherds and Yorkies, so big or small, I love them all! We’ve rescued three feral kittens who’ve become the biggest loves and rule our house. Our last pup rescue, Ellie, was a mix who was equal parts love-bug and wild-child so I’m quite comfortable with dogs who need extra exercise to tire them out as well as older dogs that just want to snooze on the couch. (We have a 3 generation household and my mom's pup is a senior Yorkie who is deaf and mostly blind...so I have lots of experience dealing with special needs dogs, medications, etc) We’ve watched numerous dogs, cats, both indoor friends and barn cats, as well as a horse, a donkey, a few guinea pigs, and lots of chickens. Plus we love caring for gardens, filling bird feeders, and tending to a home. I work from home, running an online business, so my schedule is quite flexible. I love to walk dogs while my son is at school or take them for hikes with the kiddo on the weekends. Whether we are tending to horses on a farm or cat-sitting in a big city, we believe a home should be respected and cared for and animals should be treated as family. Our sweetheart Ridgeback mix, Ellie, passed away in 2021 and house-sitting has helped our hearts to heal as we have had the opportunity to care for such amazing fur babies as we travel. We can’t wait until we buy a home and can once again have a dog of our own, but until then, we are so thankful to be able to love on the pets we watch!

“Elizabeth was such a delight and godsend for us. She was very attentive to the needs of the pets, and showed care like they were her own. She is patient, and goes above and beyond with communication. We are very happy with finding her, definitely recommend her, and will be using her again. Welcoming someone into your home is always a bit anxiety inducing, but she made us feel very comfortable and confident to leave our precious animals in her care.”
About: I have two dogs and one cat who run my life! I love all types of animals! I love to go on walks often. I have taken care of dogs and cats ever since I was 16 years old. It ranged from neighbors, friends, and people who recommended me to others. And I am easy to get in touch with. I love taking pictures animals being cute and will send them often! I will be available on weekdays to care for your animals. I have two dogs of my own and base a lot of my time around them. I have a big yard to keep the dogs safe and playing! I love to take hikes around DuPont and walks on the greenway. We have two dogs and a cat so navigating multiple pets is second nature.

About: Rescuing dogs — especially puppies — is the most rewarding feeling in life. The most important thing with our furry friends is consistency. If you're stricter with your dog, you need a sitter who'll uphold those rules, not let them slide. I've taken care of dogs and cats for friends and family for years, and I've learned that it's not about what I want — it's about honoring what the owner has built with their pet. I work with the public in my day job, so patience is second nature to me. Pets are no different. They need someone who can read their energy, stay calm, and meet them where they're at. I also love running and playing with animals. Exercise is huge — but I get that a walk isn't always about distance. Sometimes they need to run. Sometimes they need to stop and smell everything. I match their pace, not mine. I don't know if anything really sets me apart from other sitters. I just genuinely want to be there for the furry family member. My availability in inconsistent due to Firefighting but I will always respond as soon as I'm able too. I understand due to my schedule I won't the best sitter for if you need someone daily, but if you need someone to drop-in, walk your dog, or just need a night out, feel free to leave a message. Currently working for a fire department, schedule can be inconsistent. Great for drop in play times and walks. Days off from fire department can be great for unexpected care. Currently unable to have pets in home due to renting rules. Will make sure to confirm and follow all rules with you before accepting the job.

About: Growing up I always had pets; dogs, cats, hamsters, bunnies, fish and have always been an animal lover. Two kids later, potty training another living thing is not a priority but I cant resist tail wags and couch snuggles whenever I’m around animals. I am very active and would love to be the person to help get the zoomies out of your doggo or check in on other furry friends. I have had dogs of my own and have experience with crate training and will help to encourage existing basic training behaviors. I work remotely full time and am typically an early riser. I have two kids that keep me busy but my schedule is very flexible. I am happy to come over to check in on your fur babies, take them on walks or sit with them for a few hours while I get my work done.

About: I’ve had dogs since I was 5 years old. I helped train my German Shepard. I’ve dog sat and walked dogs for neighbors for many years. I love animals all around! I have pretty open availability! I can be at your house whenever you need me to be. I can mostly work my schedule around you. I make sure that every animal gets the love they all deserve. I feed my pets every day and maintain their waters. I also take them on walks every day and am experienced with walking them. I don’t discipline my dogs, only reward them.
About: Hi! I’m McKenna and I have been pet sitting for family, friends and neighbors of mine for around 6 years. I specialize in bigger breeds as I would dog sit for a neighbor that had 2 large Bulldogs and I used to have a very large German Shepherd/Greyhound mix of my own. I also have great experience with reactive dogs, older dogs, medications and diabetic dogs. Animals are everything to me and I’d love to help you out with your fur babies which are considered family. I hope I am able to work with you soon and look forward to hearing from you. Thank you! I currently work at the Biltmore Estate but do not have a set schedule there. Please reach out to me so we can figure out if our scheduling aligns! I will try my very best to make it work :) I have a Beagle who is my entire life. He is full of energy and a professional singer! Our favorite thing to do is either cuddle or play fetch in the backyard.
About: 25 years of heartfelt experience caring for dogs and cats of all sizes and ages, I bring genuine love and expert knowledge to every furry friend. Extremely flexible schedule, I am willing to travel, work remotely, willing to respond quickly, living on 1.5 acres, here to help with your pet needs. I have plenty of space to walk the dogs, a dog runner, crate, and one female cat named Bubbles. Bubbles will most likely stay in the basement where she thrives in her own space.
About: Pet sitting for friends and family for 30 yrs. Experience includes: Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Chinchillas, Birds(Parakeets to Conures), Snakes & Reptiles, Aquarium Fish & Planted Tanks. I currently work from my cellphone so I am available most of the day for walks and drop in service. I am available morning-noon-night. I have a fenced in backyard that I use for my dog. She is mostly blind and deaf so it’s best to play fetch in a controlled area.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Woodhaven
Misty is professional and you can tell she loves taking care of animals and treats them like they’re her own. She took care of our little chihuahua while we went away for a trip and she checked on him on the times we requested. Played with our little guy and let him burn his energy. She respected our home and she sent several pics with every visit! My kids loved seeing those pictures. I would definitely book Misty again! She was fantastic. ⭐️

Mara provided exceptional care for our 2 dogs and keep us updated with pictures and pertinent details! She also was able to assist us with short notice. We highly recommend Mara and will definitely look into booking her again. Thanks Mara and have a great day! 😁

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
