“Kelly was fantastic. She took care of our two dogs, one cat, and five fish tanks- not to mention the whole house. She deserves all the great reviews on here and more. She kept us completely informed with little videos and pictures, and got to know the animals and their personalities. We came home to a pristine house and animals who were not at all stressed. Kelly will be our main go-to if we are lucky enough to catch her when she is free!”

About: Experienced 3-dog owner Scott Shanfeld provides reliable, loving pet care. Skilled in handling all personalities and safety-focused, I’ll treat your pup like family! Pet care fits seamlessly by structuring your mornings and evenings around routine walks and feedings, while midday check-ins or longer weekend blocks handle extended service bookings and administrative tasks. Providing in-home pet care—whether it's overnight house sitting or dropping in for visits—is all about maintaining the pet's regular routine to keep them stress-free while their owner is away. Because pets are usually most comfortable in their own environment, keeping things consistent is key. Here is exactly how a professional in-home pet care setup typically works: 1. The Pre-Service Meet and Greet Before any care begins, a crucial first step is meeting the client and their pets at their home. This serves a few vital purposes: Introductions: Letting the pets get used to a new face while their owner is there to reassure them. Routine Walkthrough: Learning exactly where food, bowls, leashes, toys, and cleaning supplies are kept. Logistics: Securing home access (keys, lockbox codes, or alarm instructions) and collecting emergency contact info for the vet. 2. Maintaining the Routine The goal is to replicate the owner's exact schedule as closely as possible. Feeding & Medication: Serving precise portions at the exact times the pet expects them. If a pet requires medication (pills, ointments, or injections), getting clear instructions and tracking doses is a top priority. Exercise & Play: Going for walks, playing fetch, or engaging in interactive play to burn off energy and keep anxiety at bay. Bathroom Breaks: Ensuring dogs get out at regular intervals or keeping the litter box meticulously clean for cats. 3. House Manners & Security Caring for a pet in a client's home means treating the space with total respect. Home Care Basics: Bringing in the mail, watering plants, taking out the trash on pickup days, and alternating lights so the house looks occupied. Cleanliness: Promptly cleaning up any pet messes, wiping muddy paws at the door, and leaving the home exactly as it was found. 4. Communication & Updates Sending regular updates to the owner is one of the most important parts of the job. A quick text with a photo or two during a visit or at the end of the day goes a long way in giving them peace of mind while they are away.
“Cira was excellent with my Persian cat Princess. She showed up on time and sent pictures and videos. Princess is not a friendly cat but she came out of hiding for Cira so that says a lot. Highly recommend Cira”

“Drue was terrific! She arrived when scheduled, spoiled our boys with treats and outside time, and sent pictures with her report card for the boys. We will surely be using her services again in the future!”

“Lorianne did a wonderful job housesitting and caring for our two labradors. She was punctual and sent us photo updates the whole time. We highly recommend her as we will want her to care for our dogs in the future!”

About: I've taken care of cats, dogs, and exotics for many years. Well versed in pet care for any breed and kind of animal. Big fan and friend of all pets alike. I am currently an online college student, so I have plenty of time to play and care for your furry family members, with extra love! I have a very friendly but shy chihuahua who would be separated from your furry friend in my home. I can uphold any rules you may follow in your own home for your pets as need be.
About: I’ve had a dog since I was 15. She’s now 11 years old and a healthy pup. I was a certified vet assistant a few years back but could not handle the emotional pain of watching dogs pass in the medical field. I still love dogs and cats and enjoy caring for them. I work full time overnight so I am able to spend daytime with your pet! Tuesday and Wednesday are my usual days off. I can typically spend 6-8 hours with your pet before I leave for work at 9:30pm. My pets are kept indoors and on our screened patio. They keep a strict routine and enjoy sunbathing on the patio. It’s a relatively new home so the screening is strong and has never been broken. We have two litter robots and my home is always in clean condition.
“Lindsay was delightful. My dogs are not well trained. I admit it. Not proud but love them. She gave me updates daily with pictures. She left the house untouched as if she didn't stay, except for a load of sheets in the wash. The dogs were happy I was happy and anxiety free. Thanks Lindsay!!!!!!”

“Caitlyn did a fantastic job looking after our pup Tula. We trusted everything was being taken care of as she was a great communicator. From staying overnight at our home and helping keep Tula on her routine it was very comforting to us. We certainly recommend her to anyone looking for a very attentive and caring sitter at your home.”

About: I’ve been surrounded by dogs my entire life which has allowed me to care for puppies to senior dogs on a daily basis with ease. I’m currently a full-time student in mostly online courses, which leaves plenty of time to play, walk, watch, and snuggle all of your pets with enthusiasm. I will treat your pets as if they were my own and provide plenty of love and care with lots of play time and potty breaks whether that be in a fenced yard or out on a walk.
“We love Mihaela, she was very loving and patient with both our senior dogs. Our border collie is deaf and needs lots of patience and reassurance. She was awesome with him, they were taking selfies by day 2. We have already booked her for an extended sit.”

“Lily watched our pets while we went out of town for our wedding! She sent many photos and videos of our babies which made me feel happy to know they were okay and in good hands. She left the house very clean and even left a small wedding present for us which was very sweet and thoughtful of her! Lily is easy to get in touch with and very flexible. I would recommend her for sure!”

“Great pet sitter, my dog has severe separation anxiety and I can never be away from my dog too long, with Jailene, I never have to worry and I was even able to book her last second and she still came through.”

“Kaity and Sebastian were great with my cat and dog last week! We had to go out of town at the last minute and they helped us out by staying at our house and watching our babies. They kept in touch, sending lots of pix the whole time. They followed all instructions and left our house clean and tidy :) will be booking again!”

About: Dogs are the best! I’ve raised a lab, a pit bull and even a mix from puppies. My childhood dogs were a lab and cockapoo so I’m used to large and medium dogs. It’s a joy to have my home open where dogs feel right at home … on the furniture, running through the patio and back yard. Funny fact … I’ve been peed on twice at a dog park, once by a Great Dane! 🤣 My teenage son (who wants a dog of every breed!) would help give cuddles and playtime on the weekends. I used gentle training methods (and lots of cheerios) with my puppies. With our previous dog, we took the PetSmart training course with our lab mix and that was really helpful. Our home and lifestyle are best suited for larger dogs. I work from home. Dogs need play time and connection as well as their own little space. Whatever they’re feeding schedule is, I would stick to that so it feels as close to their home life as it can. We never feed human food (unless directed by you) and discourage begging from the table by keeping their food near the kitchen. Our neighborhood is safe to walk if longer jaunts are called for. The door to the back porch and to the fenced yard are open when we are home. Some dogs enjoy digging holes and chasing squirrels on the fence line! The perimeter of the fence is secure and all dogs come inside when we leave the house. They just have free reign to choose when they go out and come in if we’re here with them. We have tennis balls, a frisbee to play fetch and ropes for tug of war. Occasionally, a sock is sacrificed to the game. Whatever your dog’s schedule is, we can accommodate it and they’ll be in the cuddle pile with us anytime they want. My dogs were always crate trained so I’m confident in helping a dog have their safe space and have plenty of room to set them up. I don’t currently have extra crates, so please bring yours if your dog is comfortable with that. Dog feeding time and space will be private so there’s no sneaking food or territory issues. Basically, think of this as granny’s house. I might spoil them. I won’t send them back sugared up though! I’m home all the time as I work remote. If I’m out of the house, I’ll mark the days unavailable. I have three bedrooms so dogs can have quiet space of their own or come chill with me while I work. My fence was replaced in 2024 so it’s secured and sturdy. I keep the yard mowed so it’s perfect for the dogs. With the screen porch and couches, dogs can enjoy indoors or outdoors anytime.
About: Hi, I’m Nalisha! I’ve been taking care of dogs for as long as I can remember, and I treat every pet with the same love and respect I would my own. I’m a responsible and experienced caregiver, and I’ve even cared for a pregnant dog, so I understand the importance of patience, attention, and gentle care. As a full-time college student, I’m available most days except Sundays. My availability is always updated on my calendar, and if anything changes, I will communicate in advance so you have time to find a replacement. If a booking is made on an unavailable day but a spot opens up, I’ll be happy to take it. When caring for your pet in your home, I’ll ensure they’ve gone to the bathroom, received plenty of attention, and are in a good mood. If any accidents occur, I will notify you and clean them up to prevent further issues that could be unsafe for your pet or household.
About: Pets have always been an important part of my life. It’s easier for me to enjoy vacations knowing my furry friends are cared for by a sitter in their own home & I’m excited to offer you the same peace of mind. I have experience with cats, dogs, reptiles, & aquariums (additional fees apply—message me for rates if you have aquariums/reptiles you’d like me to check on while you are away. Also willing to water plants! I am available for in-house sitting or drop by. I do have appointments, volunteering, and occasional work on some days of the week, so let me know if you need a sitter in house at all times or if your pet is able to spend a few hours solo. For each client, I'll take into account your needs and my schedule to determine if it is a good fit for both of us and, of course, your furry friend! I am able to accommodate medication administration/particular needs if you show me what is needed. I can also keep up any training you are working on with your pet while you are away. Care can be customized to your pet’s needs during an initial visit. I am available to stay in-home for overnight stays. Please let me know if your pet needs someone on-site at all times or if they are able to be left alone at times and for how long.

Cira was a godsend. She took such amazing care of our boys. Dachshunds (esp ours) can be particular and she figured them out and had them wrapped around her finger. They had such a good time. Cira was very communicative and sent lots of pictures which kept us from missing them.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Willow walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Willow maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Willow choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Willow. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
