“Christine house sat for our 2 dachshunds and was wonderful! She kept us updated with photos and messages, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. We really appreciated how clean and well cared for our home was when we returned. She even cleaned the linens, which was very thoughtful and one less thing we had to worry about when we returned. It was also so sweet to hear how much she enjoyed spending time with our pups. We would definitely recommend her and would choose her to dog sit for us again in the future!”

“We had a great experience with Kelly! She instilled confidence from the first meeting with a very thorough questionnaire to understand our pets, their personalities, needs & routines. Throughout our time away, she texted us several times a day with photos & updates, assuring us that all was well. We returned to happy pups & a home that was spotless! We would happily have Kelly in our home again to care for our fur-babies again.”

“The best dog sitter we have ever had - with 2 large dogs it can be nerve-racking leaving them with another person. Dylan treated our boys so well like his own family. Great communication & lots of updates. My husband and I were actually able to enjoy our vacation! Will definitely be using him for the future!”

“Lori was very professional and the communication was excellent. She was wonderful with our 3 year old German Shepherd. We were very happy with Lori and will definitely use her again.”

About: I treat every pet with deep patience, gentleness, and genuine love. Animals naturally feel calm and safe around me, especially sensitive or anxious pets. I pay close attention to their emotions, routines, and comfort, creating a peaceful environment where they feel truly cared for like family… Animals have always been a deeply important part of my life and bring me a sense of peace, connection, and joy. As a photographer and creative person, I am naturally attentive, patient, and sensitive to emotions and details, which helps animals feel safe and understood around me. I create a calm and peaceful environment, respect their routines and personalities, and make sure they feel safe, loved, comfortable, and never stressed…
“Samira is just amazing! My fur babies just love her, they even cried when she left. I did not have time to do my dishes before I left and when I came home they were all washed!”

“Irene got along great iwht my dog Luna and attended to every need. She did a good job keeping me informed while I was gone. I would definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a great person to take care of their dog.”

About: I have had dogs, cared for them and adored them for most of my life. I do not have any now. I was service dog handler at the school I used work at with a student on the autism spectrum. I frequently watch friend’s dogs (even one cat) in my home or theirs and find myself looking for them when they are gone. The last dog I had was definitely a character but I loved him anyway. I hope you like photos because I am also a portrait photographer and although we won’t be doing any photo shoots, I love taking pictures to show owners what they are up to during the day. I just relocated to Parrish and missing all of “my” dogs from Michigan. Not able to host dogs at my home until I buy but love staying with them in your home. I just relocated to Parrish so I am getting my routine down now. I make sure that your dog is my priority when I am with them. I’m not sure where I am working yet so I’m loving seeing the areas near Parrish while house hunting. I use whatever rules you have with your dog just as I would watching someone’s child. I am comfortable with crate trained or non-crated dogs. If they like car rides, I have fun talking them on little outings. I like to know what commands and “words” you use to stay consistent and make sure we communicate well. I am also not a fan of feeding from the table so unless you approve that - I wouldn’t allow it. I am also very cautious about keeping dogs leashed.

“Pris stayed in constant contact through caring for our three senior dogs. She was great with them and truly cared for them like they were her own. We'll hire Pris again in a minute when needed. Very easy to work with and nearby so it was easy for all of us.”

“Kathy and Jeremy are incredible to work with. We trust very few people with our senior dog, and they are our go to sitters. This time, we had some flight trouble, and they put us at ease with their flexibility and focus on our dogs care (meds, dinner, etc). The best of the best!”

“Seth was very attentive and communicated daily about the dogs with photos. He even applied ear antibiotics and cleaned Izzy's ears daily, as she got an ear infection just prior to him dog/house sitting.”

“Lilly was such a pleasure to have! We hired her because of her excellent reviews and full background check. We have two rescue dogs so kenneling them is not an option! We decided to have a pet sitter come to our home and stay here. Lilly asked all the pertinent questions and handled everything at our home with no issues. We have two dogs (93 lb lab and a 49 lb beagle mix) and a parakeet. The house was left neat and clean! I highly recommend her!”

“Caden did an excellent job with dog and house sitting from 05/22/2026 - 05/25/2026. He was reliable, responsible, and took great care of both our dog and home while we were away. Everything was well looked after, and it gave us real peace of mind knowing things were in good hands. We came back to a happy dog and a house that was just as we left it. I would gladly recommend Caden and would be happy to work with him again.”

“This was our first time working with Jonathan as our pet/house sitter and it was a great experience. We were grateful that he was willing to stop by a second time before our trip so we could have the peace of mind that our dog would recognize him and be comfortable. He also sent us updates and pics every couple days and the house was just as clean as we left it. Couldn’t ask for more!”

“Jessica was great with our two golden retriever pups! She offered a meet and greet beforehand and sent lots of photo updates while we were away. We would absolutely recommend her and use her again in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fort Hamer
Jeremy & Kathy provided outstanding care for our two dogs; a cocker spaniel & chocolate lab (age 7 & 13). The process was so easy & they were very accommodating. We had a meet & greet and it was obvious they were lovers of pets. Our dogs loved them immediately. They provided overnight stay for 14 nights while we were out of the country. We received pictures and updates of the dogs each day. I thought it was nice that they said “you don’t have to respond to each one, we just want you to know the pups are doing great”. Upon return our home was spotless and the dogs were happy. Our dogs need medication and a little extra care and they did it all beautifully!! I highly recommend them to care for your special pets. Thank you Jeremy & Kathy!! The boys look forward to seeing you again.

Angelica provided incredible care for my puppy Beanz. She was attentive, dependable, and kept me informed with regular updates. Beanz was happy and comfortable, and I could tell she genuinely loves animals. I highly recommend her for anyone who wants trustworthy and loving pet care

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Hamer walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Hamer maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Hamer choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
