About: Experienced 3-dog owner Scott Shanfeld provides reliable, loving pet care. Skilled in handling all personalities and safety-focused, I’ll treat your pup like family! Pet care fits seamlessly by structuring your mornings and evenings around routine walks and feedings, while midday check-ins or longer weekend blocks handle extended service bookings and administrative tasks. Providing in-home pet care—whether it's overnight house sitting or dropping in for visits—is all about maintaining the pet's regular routine to keep them stress-free while their owner is away. Because pets are usually most comfortable in their own environment, keeping things consistent is key. Here is exactly how a professional in-home pet care setup typically works: 1. The Pre-Service Meet and Greet Before any care begins, a crucial first step is meeting the client and their pets at their home. This serves a few vital purposes: Introductions: Letting the pets get used to a new face while their owner is there to reassure them. Routine Walkthrough: Learning exactly where food, bowls, leashes, toys, and cleaning supplies are kept. Logistics: Securing home access (keys, lockbox codes, or alarm instructions) and collecting emergency contact info for the vet. 2. Maintaining the Routine The goal is to replicate the owner's exact schedule as closely as possible. Feeding & Medication: Serving precise portions at the exact times the pet expects them. If a pet requires medication (pills, ointments, or injections), getting clear instructions and tracking doses is a top priority. Exercise & Play: Going for walks, playing fetch, or engaging in interactive play to burn off energy and keep anxiety at bay. Bathroom Breaks: Ensuring dogs get out at regular intervals or keeping the litter box meticulously clean for cats. 3. House Manners & Security Caring for a pet in a client's home means treating the space with total respect. Home Care Basics: Bringing in the mail, watering plants, taking out the trash on pickup days, and alternating lights so the house looks occupied. Cleanliness: Promptly cleaning up any pet messes, wiping muddy paws at the door, and leaving the home exactly as it was found. 4. Communication & Updates Sending regular updates to the owner is one of the most important parts of the job. A quick text with a photo or two during a visit or at the end of the day goes a long way in giving them peace of mind while they are away.

About: I have had dogs in my home my whole life. But in my professional career, I have worked in several in vet clinic setting with both boarding animals, as well as, vet tech assistant experience. My current position has me working with more exotic species but I still love the fuzzy critters the most. I work full time in Apollo Beach on Tues-Sat from 8-5pm. I would be available for early morning and evening walks and visits. I could make arrangements for mid day visits during my lunch break. My home has a fenced in back yard. We can go for long walks through the neighborhood. I have 2 of my own playful pups

Jordan was beyond amazing,a true life saver she came through at the very last minute for me .At first I was skeptical about allowing a stranger to care for my baby (Choppa)let alone in my home but we broke the ice when we did a meet and greet she met my baby and I I showed her around told her his schedule and from there on I felt comfortable and so did my baby chop .She was on time answered to all messages quickly and promptly every walk she gave and expensive update with photos which I loved because it made me feel better and knowing my Choppas in good hands . she’s very professional and respectful.Jordan followed schedule made sure Choppa had enough food water took him on nice lengthy walks and even went out her way to play with him to burn some of that energy lol. I really enjoyed Jordans service and I will definitely be rebooking her she is now apparent of the family!THANKS AGIN JORDANNN!!!!

About: My extensive professional training in animal handling and behavior sets me apart. While many sitters enjoy pets as a hobby, I have dedicated my career to their welfare. I am a National Animal Control Officer (Level II), which provides me with advanced training in safe animal handling for both dogs and cats, as well as emergency response protocols. My Special Skills Include: Certified Behavioral Knowledge: I hold a certification from Jackson Galaxy (since 2016), allowing me to manage anxiety and behavioral issues with a fear-free approach. Senior & Medical Care: Through my non-profit rescue work, I am highly skilled in caring for senior animals, including administering varied medications (injections, fluids, pills) and managing mobility issues. Trust & Reliability: I run a professional organization, so you can expect the highest level of communication, punctuality, and attention to detail. My schedule is entirely flexible because pet care is my professional focus. As the founder of a non-profit rescue, I have the autonomy to adjust my daily workload to ensure I am available for early mornings, critical medication times, and unexpected last-minute needs. Reliability is guaranteed. I care for every pet with the rigor of a professional rescuer and the heart of an advocate. Safety First: My background as a National Animal Control Officer (Level II) influences every decision I make. I am trained in risk assessment, meaning I proactively identify hazards (loose screens, toxic plants, escape routes) before they become problems. I am also fully trained in pet CPR and First Aid. Building Trust: Trust is built through consistency. Running a non-profit organization requires impeccable ethics and reliability. Whether in my home or yours, I adhere to strict feeding and medication schedules. A Low-Stress Environment: Using my Jackson Galaxy certification, I prioritize the pet's emotional well-being. I don't force interaction; instead, I use positive reinforcement and body language cues to build a bond. I am experienced in maintaining a sterile, healthy environment, ensuring that food bowls, litter boxes, and living areas are kept to rescue-grade standards of cleanliness.

About: I’ve had a dog since I was 15. She’s now 11 years old and a healthy pup. I was a certified vet assistant a few years back but could not handle the emotional pain of watching dogs pass in the medical field. I still love dogs and cats and enjoy caring for them. I work full time overnight so I am able to spend daytime with your pet! Tuesday and Wednesday are my usual days off. I can typically spend 6-8 hours with your pet before I leave for work at 9:30pm. My pets are kept indoors and on our screened patio. They keep a strict routine and enjoy sunbathing on the patio. It’s a relatively new home so the screening is strong and has never been broken. We have two litter robots and my home is always in clean condition.

About: I enjoy all animals, specifically dogs of all sizes! I can abide by any special instructions and take care of other tasks pertaining to other pets if need be. I can video call during the care needed and/or pictures. I am able to care for dogs or any animal who have any form of special needs if instructions are given. Feel free to ask if you need me to stay longer than 30 min or any other requests(we can work out a deal with that). If you can’t make it to a vet appointment or your schedule doesn’t allow you to have ample time to take your buddy to the greenway trails or dog parks then don’t hesitate to contact me. A little bit about myself: I am a prospective nursing student. Additionally, I have a dog of my own, and I have previously taken care of pets such as dogs, cats, and rabbits. I’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have. I have references. Due to privacy issues, I haven’t listed their contact information publicly, but if requested I’m more than happy to give the information. Edit: I will wear a mask and sanitize anything I touch. Additionally, I will wear gloves. On another note, if you need quick errands to run, then I’m here for that as well! I’m currently on the next door app and offering that for free for those who are unable to do so. We can meet for an interview (this includes a free meet and greet with your precious, so you can have a piece of mind :) )and discuss the price deals I have at the moment. I’m fairly flexible with dates, times, cancellations, and prices. Stay safe :)

About: My current rental isn’t pet-friendly, so I don’t have a fur baby of my own right now but honestly, animals have been a consistent part of my life and work! As a full-time traveling newborn care specialist (nanny), I’ve had the joy of caring for family pets while also looking after their little ones, or stepping in as the sole pet caregiver while families travel. It’s become a natural perk of my career! I love hiking, going for walks and jogs, playing fetch, and just enjoying the outdoors so active pups/high-energy breeds are very welcome. My schedule as an on-call nanny keeps me pretty flexible overall, and I’m happy to work around your needs. Im based in Tampa for the next month! I treat every home with respect: your rules are my rules! I’m a bit Type A myself, so I naturally keep things tidy and orderly. I stay alert and aware of my surroundings whether we’re inside or out, and I’m experienced with rescues and anxious dogs, so I know how to read body language and adjust my approach. At dog parks or on walks, I stay vigilant so your pet is always safe.

Karley was very pleasant and handled my dog very well. She took her on a nice walk and sent lots of pictures. I only used her one time while I was in town. She was very accommodating and flexible. She also showed patience and persistence in accessing the property. If I am back in town I will use her again.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy.
