“Sandy is always flexible and willing to book in short notice. Her communication is excellent in making sure you are totally satisfied with her excellent drop in visits. We have asked her to provide visits before and always consider her as a top pick for dogs needs.”

“Laura does a wonderful job with our kitties and goes above and beyond by taking in our mail and even helped put away our frozen dog food delivery which is big and heavy to have to lug in from the porch and down stairs. We’re repeat customers and highly recommend her to take care of your fur family while you’re away.”

“Charlotte was on time and professional, taking care of my golden retriever Honey like she was her own! She took her out to go potty, played with her tennis ball and gave her lots of love and attention. Honey was very happy and I would definitely recommend Charlotte to watch your furry friend.”

“Thank you sooo much. Amika prioritized my dog’s care, administered his meds and cared for him with love. I felt good about leaving him with her. I will definitely book with Amika in the future.”

“I leave for my vacation a little concerned about my senior cat Lili. Lisa took the initiative to stop by between visits to check on my cat’s health without me asking her to. I really appreciate that she was kind enough to touch base and gave peace of mind during my vacation. Everything was clean and organized when I returned. I will book Lisa again next time”

“Elizabeth checked in on our kitty while I was out of the country for a week. I would absolutely book her again! She was always on time, super friendly and our shy cat loved hanging out with her. It was such good peace of mind having someone so reliable and friendly checking in on the cat, and I can't say enough nice things about her!”

“Nina did an outstanding job taking care of our bunny. She was very attentive and prompt with messages/updates. She made our first experience with Rover an excellent one, and we will definitely seek her help again in the future.”

“Mark was very patient and understanding with Zeke! It was clear that he has lots of expertise around dogs and is responsive to their needs. Mark also communicated well with me and went above and beyond to care for Zeke! Highly recommend!”

“Allison is the best! She is a great communicator - she responds quickly and clearly. She sends lots of pictures and follows directions perfectly. She took such good care of our pups and they loved her! We will definitely use her again! Thank you, Allison!”

“Colleen was punctual, courteous, and took care of my girls with no issues! She was able to accommodate a sudden change in plans with ease and I genuinely appreciated it! 💗”

“She has great communication and really cares about the pets! My cats take meds and she does everything she can to make sure they get their doses. She also cares about the house and will do nice little side things for me while we’re away. Very reliable and friendly.”

“Katrina was amazing and definitely the best sitter I’ve ever had from over! I absolutely will book her again. She gave me details about every visit and TONS of pictures which I appreciated so much!”

“Andrea has been so good to my mini dachshund. My dog is sometimes anxious, stubborn, and can lash out a bit if she is triggered. But Andrea has remained patient and given me frequent updates on her visits. She is great!!”

“Jessalyn was amazing with Mr. Donut. She came to meet him and took detailed notes of the instructions for his care. I felt calm being away from home and knowing she was taking great care of him. Thank you so much!”

About: I’ve grown up surrounded by dogs, my family has always had 4-7 large dogs at a time, so I’m very comfortable with them. I’ve had experience with dogs from day-old puppies, to blind dogs, to senior dogs who need help walking. I am currently in classes but I am available to stay overnight to take care of animals, and make frequent visits as needed. My primary availability is on the weekends as I have class during the week. I am not able to take pets into my home, but I am willing to accommodate whatever routines you have with your pet in your home! I can feed, walk, play with, or provide general care for your pet.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs for about 10 years, mostly my own (now senior) dogs. I also had a dog who was special needs (partially blind and deaf), and unfortunately passed 3 years ago. I am always open to taking care of your pets! I’m normally the most free every day but Wednesday and do not mind spending the night with your pets! I cannot currently house pets in my own home, but I’m always free to stay at your home! I drive, so only staying for a few hours at a time is also okay. Since I have senior dogs, they often “forget” they went outside, so frequent potty breaks (including in the night) is a must. I also give my dogs medication, so if your pup needs oral medication, I am 100% okay with that.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Wildbrook Acres
Morgan was great!! She agreed to let my dog Winnie out with short notice, and did a great job keeping me updated and sending me lots of photos! She also made sure Winnie was well taken care of with refilling her water bowl and checking in on her food :) would definitely recommend and will be using her in the future!!

Eric went above and beyond for my two kitties! He is great and takes phenomenal pictures!! He took excellent care of my babies and even offered help outside of caring for my animals when my home unexpectedly flooded from a severe rain storm. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Lisa did an AMAZING job watching my senior cat over 9 days. Our regular sitter was out of town, so I was nervous about finding someone new. She exceeded all expectations, including administering two types of medications (that came up at the last minute). She provided excellent, detailed updates that put my mind at ease. I would highly recommend Lisa!!

Lily was wonderful with Honey and Cali. It was our first time booking through rover and she eased the nerves of having someone else take care of our girls. They loved her so much and it gives us peace of mind to know she is someone we can rely on now! Thank you, Lily!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
