About: I have been taking care of animals since I was 10. I have cared for a blind senior cat as well as a cat with hip problems, which required patience, close monitoring, and adapting the environment to keep them safe and comfortable. I currently help care for my friend’s senior dog, who also has hip and dental issues, so I’m familiar with administering gentle support, maintaining comfort, and being attentive to mobility limitations and pain cues. In addition, I have experience caring for younger animals, including kittens and puppies around 12 weeks old. This has given me practice with high-energy care, feeding routines, supervision, and basic early-life behavior management. Overall, I’m comfortable working with both senior pets and young animals, and I adjust my care style based on each pet’s specific health, energy level, and personality needs. Pet care fits into my routine pretty easily because I currently have a part-time job with a very variable schedule. Since my shifts change from week to week, I’m generally flexible and available most days with some notice. This flexibility allows me to adjust around pet care responsibilities like feeding, walks, check-ins, or overnight stays when needed. I’m also used to planning my time in a way that ensures animals are consistently cared for, even on busier days, so I can reliably fit pet care into my weekly schedule. In my home, I would make sure any pet is cared for in a safe, comfortable, and supervised environment. While my apartment doesn’t have a backyard, there is a fenced-in area nearby where dogs can run, play fetch, and get exercise. I also have a car, so if the owner is comfortable with it, I can take the dogs to a dog park for additional enrichment and activity. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize keeping their routine as consistent as possible—feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any special care instructions are followed closely. I’m also very mindful of respecting the home itself. I was raised to always leave a place cleaner than I found it, so I make sure everything is kept tidy, organized, and exactly as I found it. Communication is also important to me, so I always update owners and let them know right away if anything seems off or if there are any concerns about their pet’s health, behavior, or well-being.

“Mark has watched my pets twice and he did a great job both times. The first time, I had a dog that had recently become disabled and had to be assisted outside with a special vest on to hold him up. It wasn't an easy job, but Mark stuck it out and took care of him and our other dog for a week. The second time we hired Mark, was a year later and two weeks after we had lost our disabled dog. Our 12 year old lab is an easy dog to care for, but it was the first time we had left her without her buddy, since she was a puppy. Mark showed up reliably and spent extra time with her to help her tolerate her new life as an only dog. You can tell Mark cares about their emotional needs, as well as their physical requirements.”

About: I’ve been a dog trainer for 5 years and frequently work with animal behavior, loose leash walking, and puppy basics. I’ve also been a dog groomer and bather for 3 years and have worked at various boarding facilities, so I have a lot of hands on experience with animal care and all the everyday parts of caring for dogs. I’ve also worked on an AKC German Shepherd farm doing conformation showing and training, and I’ve fostered 6 puppies that I trained and prepared for their new families — they still keep in touch with me daily! I really enjoy getting to know each dog’s personality and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and understood while they’re in my care. I work part time, so I have plenty of time to care for and play with your pups **(Me and a roomate in the home I will be the sole and only caretaker of your pet throughout the week.)**I live just a few steps from Reaney Park and visit there frequently, so walks and outdoor time are already a regular part of my routine. I have Sundays off every week and am happy to dedicate that day to extra time and attention with your pup. My home is dog proofed and set up to be a safe, comfortable place for your pup. I have two very friendly dogs who can interact with your dog if they’re comfortable with each other, or they can be put away if your dog prefers their own space. Both of my dogs are off-leash trained, but when a client’s dog is staying with me, the door does not open unless that dog is safely leashed. We’re 10 steps away from Reaney Park, where client dogs stay on a leash or long line the entire time. We also have a fenced balcony that your dog can enjoy with supervision if you’d like them to have access to it. Inside, there are plenty of appropriate toys to chew on and cords, surfaces, and other hazards are kept out of reach. Your dog will be supervised whenever they’re not safely crated. I love giving dogs as much freedom as they can safely handle, so please feel free to tell me your pup’s expectations, routines, and requirements. I’m happy to follow them and make their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

About: I have a Rottweiler/Husky mix of my own who is absolutely spoiled and loved! I’ve also cared for a Sphynx cat who needed some extra attention, Bulldogs with their regular eye-care routines, and my childhood dog who struggled with anxiety. Those experiences have taught me that every pet has their own personality, routine, and little quirks! Whether your pup wants to run around and play, your kitty prefers to nap in a sunny spot, or your pet needs a little extra patience and reassurance, I’m happy to meet them where they’re at. 💕 I’ll keep you updated with pictures, cuddles, and plenty of love while you’re away because I know how hard it can be to leave your fur babies behind. My goal is simple: you get peace of mind, and your pet gets a fun, safe, and loving time while you’re gone! 🐶🐱✨ I have a flexible routine and do my best to work around each pet’s needs and schedule. I make sure to set aside time for walks, playtime, feeding, and plenty of attention and cuddles. I understand how important consistency is for pets, so I always aim to keep them comfortable and stick to their usual routines while their owners are away. I provide pet care in my clients’ homes so their pets can stay comfortable in a familiar environment. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs. I take the time to learn what makes each animal feel safe and happy. My care includes following regular feeding schedules, providing fresh water, going on walks, and taking pets out for potty breaks. I also make time for play, exercise, cuddles, and companionship. I want every pet to feel loved and comfortable while their owner is away. I’m comfortable caring for both cats and dogs, including pets that need extra attention or have specific care routines. I’m happy to follow instructions for medications, grooming, and other special needs. I know how important patience and consistency are, especially when pets are adjusting to their owners being gone. I’ll also be respectful of your home and keep your pet’s space clean and tidy. My goal is to give you peace of mind while you’re away. You can feel confident knowing your pets are receiving attentive, loving care and plenty of attention until you return.

About: I’ve had pets my entire life and currently have two dogs, along with past experience caring for cats. I’ve been dog, cat, and house-sitting since middle school, so I’m comfortable caring for pets and making sure they feel safe and loved. About: My experience ranges wide from puppy training + care, all the way too administering medicine for senior dogs and caring for their special needs! I pride myself on ensuring the individual needs of each different pet are met, no matter what they may be! I currently attend Washington State University at the Pullman campus! I have classes M-F in the afternoon, but am extremely flexible in my scheduling otherwise! Safety & client relationships are a top priority in how I care for pets. I believe open communication between a sitter and client is crucial for peace of mind when allowing for someone else to care for your babies. I provide updates, pictures, and messages to ensure comfort on both ends. Honesty is key! I also take home safety seriously when visiting clients' properties. Locking all exterior doors, windows, and garages are a primary focus post-visiting your pet. I understand it may be nerve wracking to invite someone into your space with your furry companion, and I want to ensure I am treating your environment with the upmost respect and care.

About: I’ve grown up with animals of all kinds in my home. While I currently only have a cat, I’ve been the owner of several dogs, a couple snakes, a bearded dragon and I’m not afraid of really any type of animal. I have a pretty open schedule, single mom to a couple of boys and pet mom to one sweet cat. I love snuggling any animal. So I live in an apartment but very frequently go out to trails and parks with my kids, I would have no problem including your pet!

About: I’ve taken care of a variety of animals since I was young. Anything from guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs, cats, etc. My family has had a variety of dogs, so I have extensive experience in caring for dogs of all ages. I have taken care of senior dogs with special care required regarding seizures and numerous medications. I’ve also assisted in training for younger dogs for basic tricks and potty training. I’m currently a PhD student, so I’m on campus around half the week! Weekends are very open/flexible for me, and I’m also available in the mornings/mid-day/nights. I would generally keep pets separate from my own, aside from other cats. They’d have their own space to decompress, but they would still receive lots of love!

I love animals ~ Rover is a must for me since I don’t have any pets of my own. I’m a certified animal reiki practitioner, helping to facilitate deeper connections between pets and their people! Reiki services are optional as an add on for pets during their stay with me (price is not reflected in my nightly rate). I would love to host the animal in your life in my home! I give every animal all the attention I can with lots of walks! I work remotely so have a lot of flexibility when it comes to your pets needs. I have lots of breaks during the day to go on walks or play! I live in an apartment located 1 block from a large park. I have no pets myself so no worries if your dog doesn’t get along with others. FAQs for Pet Sitting - Whitlow

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
