“Shelly is a treat! We've never gone on vacation without our dog because she can be a real handful and we didn't want to burden anyone else. Well, a trip came up where we couldn't take her and we decided to give home sitting a shot. Enter our hero, Shelly. She made the whole process easy and, more importantly, our dog loved her, which is a rarity. Long story short, we love Shelly!”
“Emily was awesome ! Very friendly and knowledgeable, On short notice she was able to accommodate my schedule. She gave me daily updates, would ask questions if anything came up . Maverick enjoyed Emily and my home was left in better condition after she left than when she came. Very conscientious about the needs of Maverick. She will definitely be requested to come back again.”

About: I've always loved animals since I was a kid: cats, dogs, reptiles, rodents, etc. I love taking care of them and learning about all different animals. making sure their needs are met and making sure they're well taken care of!! I have a part-time job. I'm able to do anything that fits my schedule. I prefer doing mornings or early afternoons!! If you need anything specific just let me know!! I am happy to meet any requirements for pet care!! Going on walks, specific feeding times, etc. Also, I can take care of any other pets, such as any reptiles and/or any rodents, rabbits, etc. I'm happy to do so; just let me know beforehand!!
“Julia was great with our two little dogs-one a senior. She communicated every day, kept our house in order, and started laundry before we returned. We would recommend her with no hesitation.”

“Stacey was amazing and went above and beyond for me and my pets. She mentioned she has 3 large dogs and her experience really showed. At one point I ran out of dog food and she offered to go pick some up. She also watched over my guinea pig and took great care of him, since she has rabbits of her own. I will definitely be booking her again and again!”

About: I've taken care of pets all of my life. From puppies all the way up to seniors. I love them all. They all need someone to care for them and feel the extra love especially when their normal family is away. I'm currently flexible and can fit pet care into my daily routine. Occasionally, I will pick up an additional job. But that shouldn't interrupt with taking care of what I love to do and that is to take care of fur babies. I would rather take care of your pets in their environment due to the fact that they are most comfortable there. I also have two fur babies of my own. But I feel as if fur babies are normally happy in their own surroundings.
“I am so glad we found Brooke! She was such a great friend to our pups and took such great care of them. She kept us updated every day and left our home the way we left it for her. We are so thankful for her!”

About: I’ve grown up caring for multiple dogs throughout my life, giving me hands-on experience with feeding, walking, playtime, and everyday care. I treat every dog like family and prioritize their safety and happiness. I am currently home from college for the summer. I do not have other responsibilities, so caring for your pet is my top priority. I am free every day to be able to feed, walk, and play with them. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize maintaining their everyday routine to help them feel comfortable and secure. Whether I’m providing walks, drop-in visits, or overnight care, I’ll ensure your pet receives plenty of attention, exercise, fresh water, meals, and any other care instructions you provide.
“Janell was absolutely wonderful! We have five pets (two large dogs and three cats) who, while all lovely, can be a lot to manage all together. Janell took everything in stride and was an excellent caretaker while we were out of town! She was extremely communicative, sent plenty of pictures, and was very conscientious about their care. She also was very respectful of our home and left everything in great shape! There’s nothing better than knowing your pets are in good hands while you’re out of town and coming home to a happy and cared for crew, and Janell definitely fits that bill. We would absolutely have her watch our pets again!”

“Ava still doesn't like when we leave, but Shawna P. has done a great job making her feel as comfortable as possible. Ava still yells at us when we get home, but she is much more relaxed and happier than if she spent the time boarding at the kennel.”

“Hannah was very flexible, meet n greet, and is kind, confident, and understanding. She clearly has experience with loud and large dogs as well. I would trust her to watch the dogs again!”
“Kimberly was so good with our little cat! She was so kind and took great care of our home and fur baby! She even gave our cat who doesn’t isn’t good with medication her meds twice a day and sent us pics of our baby while we were on vacation! Will absolutely be booking with her again!”

About: Hi! I’m Sidnie, a proud pet parent to three dogs and two cats. I know every pet has their own personality, routine, and unique needs, and I understand how stressful it can be to leave them in someone else’s care. One of the biggest reasons I joined Rover is because two of my own dogs have anxiety in boarding and daycare settings. Finding someone I trust to care for them in the comfort of our home has always been important to me, and I want to provide that same peace of mind for other pet parents. Although I’m new to Rover, I’ve spent the past eight years caring for my own pets every day. I’m comfortable administering medications, following detailed care instructions, and adapting to each pet’s individual routine and personality. I work remotely most of the week, which allows me to spend more time with pets than someone who’s away all day. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playing fetch, snuggling on the couch, or simply having a calm companion nearby, I’ll tailor my care to what makes them happiest. You’ll receive regular updates and photos throughout your booking, and I’ll treat both your pet and your home with the same care and respect I give my own. I live on the south side of Indianapolis and work remotely most of the week, with only two days spent downtown. This gives me the flexibility to serve a wide area throughout Indianapolis and many surrounding communities while offering dependable care for your pets. If you’re unsure whether you’re within my service area, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to discuss travel. Whether it’s a walk, drop-in visit, or overnight stay, I do my best to keep your pet’s routine as consistent as possible. I know that maintaining familiar schedules can make all the difference, especially for pets who are nervous when their owners are away. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. Before every booking, I take the time to learn your pet’s routine, personality, and any special instructions so I can provide care that’s tailored specifically to them. Whether your pet has medications, dietary restrictions, favorite walking routes, or simply likes things done a certain way, I’ll make sure those routines stay consistent. I’ll also treat your home with the same respect and care that I would my own, leaving it just as I found it. You can expect dependable communication, thoughtful care, and plenty of updates so you never have to wonder how your pet is doing.
About: Brandon and I have been devoted pet parents to five dogs over the past 25 years. We genuinely adore dogs and treat them like cherished family members. We're energetic and hands-on. If you have a minor home project, cleaning task, or small errand that needs attention, we're open to discussing it for an additional fee, provided it doesn't interfere with caring for your beloved pet. On weekends we run errands, have lunch or dinner plans occassionally, but will spend the majority of our time with your loved one. On weekdays, Brandon works from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM in Plainfield (Monday-Wednesday). Brittani works in Castleton from 9 AM to 6 PM (Monday-Thursday). Brandon works from home Thursday and Friday and Brittani on Fridays. We are happy to care for your baby as if it were our own. Just let us know what you prefer and we will follow your instructions.
“Heather was very communicative throughout the weekend, and did a great job with house sitting and taking care of two dogs after very short notice from us. She also left the house clean and left us a small gift, which was very nice.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Whiteland
We have two retrievers and one is vary wary of strangers but Ashley came to our house for a meet and greet and she was only the second person that Sophie has not barked at in over three years so Ashley made me very comfortable leaving our dogs with her for an entire weekend which was our dogs first time alone with a sitter. The weekend went well so we will definitely reach out to Ashley again. Thanks

Shakarra watched our 2 dogs and 2 cats for 2 weeks. I’ve never been away from them for that long. She kept me up to date and was very responsive. I appreciated having someone in our home who everyone was comfortable with. She came over 2 times before actually staying to make sure things were going to work. My dogs took to her immediately. I ran into some travel delays but Shakarra was flexible and kind enough to do an additional stop by to make sure everyone was good. She tidied up the house before she left which was icing on the cake for our arrival home. I feel so grateful to have found a great pet sitter on the first go around.

FAQs for House Sitting - Whiteland
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Whiteland on Rover is $36.63 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,507 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Whiteland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Whiteland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Whiteland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Whiteland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Whiteland. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
